Chapter Text
“Good night Mr.Wayne,” you basically squeak before exiting Wayne Enterprises. It’s not very often Bruce Wayne decides to come into work, let alone stay until nightfall. You don’t think he even heard you with all the commotion around him but your parents had taught you manners, even though the man on the receiving end was the man responsible for all your problems.
It was a particularly bad day in Gotham; the rain tumbling down bucket by bucket, and your umbrella nowhere in sight. You take a deep breath before you step outside the buildings double doors, immediately getting drenched in the process.
Cabs were far too expensive for your measly assistant’s assistant salary, and it was too late and dangerous for the metro. Guess you were walking home tonight. It’s going to be a very long walk.
By the time you reach your tiny crime alley apartment you’ve caught a cold. You’ve also witnessed two convenience store robberies and one (potential ?) murder. Just your average day in Gotham right?
The thing about crime alley is that it’s dangerous sure, but it’s also got the cheapest rent. Plus, you’ve built a bit of a community here over the years. Your next door neighbor Mrs.Rami has been practically looking after you since you moved here all those years ago, and bodega owner even knows your order by heart. It’s not too bad out here basically. Except when people try to break in…
As you shut your apartment front door behind you, sliding off your boots as your soaked socks touch the cold hardwood floor, you hear a click.
There’s a big figure looming outside your balcony prying open the window hatch you thought you’d successfully superglued shut. This is it you think. This is where you die, and your only legacy will be a short eulogy in the long list of deaths in the Gotham times. As the man outside works his way into your apartment, limb by limb squeezing through the small hole, you slowly reach for the gun that lays peacefully in your kitchens junk drawer. Wow you really should keep this thing on you more.
Just as the man hops down into your apartment, your gun is in the air, pointed at the masked stranger.
“Get out!” you try to hide the terror in your voice, your hands only mildly shaking.
The intruder is not just any common thief, no, he’s something else entirely. Instead of the black ski mask, he dons a red helmet, the rest of him covered in black gear. A red bat logo appliquéd onto his chest.
His expression seems to falter under the mask before he crosses the room in two steps and before you know it, your gun is across the room and your arm is pinned behind your back.
“Try again” his voice is cold.
Your Gothamite instincts kick in as you grab whatever seems to be the closest to your free hand, later you see it was a vase that your friend Miranda had given you before she moved away to metropolis, and smashing it into what you believe is his helmet.
Red hood stumbles back a bit before regaining his composure,
“Listen. Despite how threatening this situation might seem, I’m only here for your assistance.”
You think you gawk. What could THE Red Hood possibly need your help for?
“I need you to hack into Wayne Enterprises for me,”
