Chapter Text
Going out on dangerous missions against "supervillains" and coming back exhausted while getting a shower of criticism from half the media isn't really Bob's thing.
So, while the Thunderbolts* go out there and "fight crime," he's left to take care of the huge tower.
He doesn't complain about it, it's actually comfortable to be able to worry about the bathroom grout dirt instead of fighting and smashing things into assassins out there.
Bob has a routine and follows it diligently, after all it's 10 whole floors (even if he doesn't even go to some of them). He keeps himself quite busy taking care of the local cleaning and keeping everything in its proper place.
The rest of the team thinks it's a good idea that he has something to keep himself occupied, since he remains alone for hours or even a few days.
Bucky is doubly grateful, without him that tower would be chaos.
But John... He would never confess it, but his favorite part of the day was arriving at the Tower and hearing Bob tell him about every silly bug he found, where he took longer to clean and what stupid show he would be watching at night, after all that.
That helped the blond to distract himself from any shitty day he might have had. And, besides all that, Bob's hugs were the most comfortable on the planet - another truth he would never comment on.
Well, that was the exact situation at the moment. John's mind hovered among these thoughts, but soon got lost in the comfort of Bob's animated voice, which vibrated against his chest.
"Do you have any idea how many spiders I found in the training room? Three! Which is extremely funny, considering how hectic the coexistence there is.."
John arched an eyebrow.
"What kind of spider? You didn't touch them, did you?"
He didn't even bother to ask about the spiders' lives, he knew Bob wouldn't kill them.
"They were kinda green and black... I looked them up on the internet! Joro spider, I think..."
Bob comments, trying to remember exactly the spiders he found hidden behind some dumbbells.
"You didn't kill them, did you?"
John wanted to confirm. He wasn't afraid of insects, but who wouldn't be startled to come face to face with three giant spiders while trying to train?
"Of course not! How cruel, John..."
"I give up discussing insects with you.."
"Technically, they're not insects... And they're harmless-"
"Nerd."
John interrupts him, the insult as a disturbance worked well, since Bob shut up and rolled his eyes, before snuggling against Walker again.
"Jerk... And I'm trying to be nice and teach you something new so you don't fill that blond head of yours only with 'training and military honor'."
Bob returns in the same tone, unable to contain a satisfied little laugh when he saw John's face slightly frowning.
"Go fuck yourself, Bob."
"Don't even try, Walker... You're totally into me and my amazing skills at making you shut up."
John grumbles.
"What kind of skills? All you do is insult me and laugh."
Bob doesn't even deny it, he just does exactly as predicted and lets out a laugh.
"I have many other ways to make you shut your mouth.."
Bob slightly changes his tone, lifting his head from John's chest, with an ironic smile.
"I highly doubt they're functional, Bob."
John scoffed, but was really silenced by Bob's lips, in a kiss that didn't last long, interrupted by a low and accidental laugh.
"See? You shut up! - Bob celebrated. - I told you it was foolproof!"
John looked away, muttering low some senseless things, with a slight blush growing on his face and on the tips of his ears.
"Go to sleep before I knock you out. - John replies, in a tone that should have been harsher than it really was.
"You love me, I know, you don't need to rub it in my face - Bob teased him more.
John let out another grumble, pushing Bob's face, who was laughing, to the side.
"Good night, Bob. - Walker ends the subject, clearly embarrassed.
The forced distance didn't help, because Reynolds soon dodged the barrier created by John's hand to throw himself against the blond again.
"Good night.."
Sleeping was not an easy task for Robert, but distracting himself next to John was definitely the best recipe for a perfect night's sleep.
