While The Walls Grow Hands And Teeth

Summary:

(Republished, originally published 9/22/26)

Hi guys!! I've considering posting this because this part was originally the ending to my first fanfic (As You Drag The Lake And Pull Me Out), but since I wrote this first I got confused and diverged it completely from the story. This is how it would have ended if Tony developed romantic feelings for Jaime :D

Notes:

Sorry if its low quality I've been writing fanfics for a month and this was my first attempt :3

Work Text:

No...this couldn't be happening. This couldn't real. The bathroom smelled faintly of the incense Tony had placed it in a few days prior, burning it in an attempt to ground himself back to humanity. It didn't fucking work, because......he wasn't human anymore. The tub was cold, but the discomfort was exacerbated as the handcuff around his right wrist clinked against the shower bar. He emitted a growl (as if anybody was there to hear him), yet it was mainly an attempt to....ground himself back to humanity.

......He wasn't human anymore.

Oliver...Oliver had somehow convinced Jaime and Vic to somewhat turn on him, which gave him the BRIGHT idea to drag him to his bathroom and cuff one of his wrists to the shower bar. Sure, his mental explanation left quite a few important details out, but he wanted to shy away from his stupid actions.

He didn't want to think about how he confessed to Jaime, met with platonic rejection and shock. He didn't want to think about how he would spend hours of this time, away from practice (and ultimately Jaime) daydreaming about how his best friend's blood would flood his mouth as if he were to let the vampirism take hold.

And...he had let it take hold. And it all fell down from there. Although Tony was too far gone now, Jaime was constantly swimming in his thoughts. All the good memories before vampirism and homosexuality, before his best friend looked at him with shock and absolute terror.

The bathroom door opened, and there entered three people, two of which he knew well. Tony instinctively snarled at the newcomer, wiping the snarky expression off the dude with black hair and blue eyes. "Don't you growl at him, you monster!" Oliver chided (with cruel amusement,) stepping aside to let the younger man stride forward the tub. "He's mostly no bite Kellin, but he couldn't if he tried."

Oliver glanced back at Jaime, who winced against the frame of the door. He was obviously referencing the bite and its victim. "Shut up." Jaime responded with a feeble edge of defensiveness, reserved for himself and the feral boy confined to a shower bar. Oliver just rolled his eyes, mocking the "shut up" before locking eyes onto the back of Kellin's head. "Just don't get TOO close, y'know? Because he might take a chunk out of your arm."

Tony recoiled from the degradation, the growls now ceasing as he became so painfully aware of his nature. It wasn't like he had attacked Jaime because he wanted to..the vampirism had literally driven him to CRAVE his blood. Words to defend himself were seemingly non-existent, dominated by the instincts that raged within his body.

Kellin slowly exchanged suppressed laughter with Oliver at the sound of the vampire's pathetic whimper, getting close enough to grasp Tony's hair. "Look at you..the former lead guitarist of Pierce The Veil. I've already replaced you, and I'll experience stardom while you rot in this fucking apartment like the miserable creature you've become."

He glowered and bared his teeth at Kellin, barely concealing the urge to SINK them into his neck and rid the earth of a prick whilst satiating his hunger. Oliver pulled Kellin back, obviously doubting what he said earlier.
It wasn't factual, because Tony COULD bite if he tried. He had before anyways.

"Okay Kel, I think you've hammered that into his dense mind!" The drummer joked, giving the vampire a nasty look before turning to Jaime. "Don't tell me you're scared of your vampire best friend now. Come here." The answer was exasperated, an exclamation as Jaime drew close to Tony. Begrudgingly. That stung alot more than being replaced and called a miserable creature. He stayed probably two feet away from the tub, reluctant to be near the person that had been his best friend since high school.

Tony's nostrils flared, Jaime's blood being specifically sweet to him. The fucking vampirism..it had "ruined" his perception of him. He reached out with his uncuffed hand, brushing Jaime's shirt for a millisecond before the bassist gasped and pulled away. "What makes you think you can touch me after you mauled my arm?!" His friend shouted hoarsely, already overwhelmed by terror. ..Jaime was right. What was he thinking? Maybe that he didn't hate him.

Tony whined, half-curling into the tub as if hiding from the sheer rejection. It didn't help that Oliver and Kellin were STILL amused by his primal behavior. He wanted to sob now, but not in front of people who only saw him as a creature. Not even in front of his best friend, who....no longer loved him even platonically, it seemed. The earlier defensiveness must have just been pity.

"How could you have such audacity to think I'd LOVE you back, especially if you were a vampire who tried to kill me? Even if I was gay, I wouldn't consider you." More hurtful words. Tony was not enjoying this whatsoever. He had been SO fucking stupid to let himself gain feelings for Jaime, vampirism-induced or not. So stupid to let the occasional suggestion of love evolve into a roar from a whisper.

He shook from head to toe with suppressed sobs, facing away from all three people. Maybe if he stayed like that for long enough then they'd leave him for another 5 days, but the vampire hadn't even been fed yet. Tony heard a muffled snicker and the slight crinkle of a zip lock bag. He hated how quickly his composure solidified again, wiping his eyes and sitting up for the blood bag.

He extended his arm once more, but not to touch Jaime. To touch the zip lock bag that would stave off his hunger. Jaime reacted as if he were trying to touch him again, which somehow resulted in him opening and pouring the contents all in the tub. "Oops." He stifled a laugh himself, dropping the bag into the tub and taking a few steps back with his hands up in mock guilt.

Tony just stared down at the tub's floor, feeling the shame mix with bloodlust. He could embarrass himself further by licking it up in front of three people, or he could just....not drink the blood at all (or atleast until they left.) The latter was more appealing, so he continued to stare at the blood puddle despite the lengthening of fangs at the tempting sight.

"Lick it up, you bloodsucker! Or starve, for all we care." Oliver commented with a smile and an exit of the room. Kellin followed him, but Jaime was the only one to linger for an extra minute or so. It seemed like he was regretting how he was treating what used to be his best frined, yet he scoffed and walked out the room. "Bye bye, Tony." The door closed behind him, locked from the inside. Tony heard the front door lock about 20 seconds later, which signaled they were gone and had left him locked in his own apartment.

He resorted to licking the tub floor, of course. He was a miserable creature, a bloodsucker...that was all he'd ever be now.
