Chapter Text
"This show's soo stupid."Megumi mumbled under his breath.
"It's not a show, but a movie series!" Yuji argued with his eyes locked on the screen.
"It's still bad." Said Nobara already on the verge of leaving "Why do we have to watch this worm guy?"
"It's romance, you just have to keep watching!"
I see enough romance when with you two. Ugh. Kugisaki was done with their bullshit, they were so obvious. She wouldn't be surprised if the upperclassmen knew too.
"I'm getting tired, maybe that's enough for tonight?" Megumi asked even if he just want to be left alone.
"Yeah, maybe you're right." Yuji agreed and got up to head to his dorm ""K'mon Kugisaki! Let's leave him alone!"
"Finee..."
Megumi looked alone in his room. He was happy to hang out with his classmates but they can become annoying sometimes, especially Itadori. Whenever he started talking it would probably be something stupid. Yet Fushiguro still liked him, he had helped him him so much that they could very well rely on eachother all the time. Megumi cherished both his friends equally, that's for sure.
"Maybe I should go to bed for real."
Their relationship was...complicated, that's what Nobara says at least. It's not that she was jealous, she was frustrated having to watch her best friends clearly like eachother and still not getting it.
Maybe I should just tell or Will the idiots figure it out were one of the main things she ever thought about. Well aside from her studies and work.
"Hey Kugisaki!" Yuji's voice broke her out of her thoughts.
"Hi, what's up? Something wrong?"
"Do you wanna train a bit with me?"
Of course he had to ask when she was hanging out with Maki "Sorry, I'm busy. Go ask Fushiguro or something! The idiot's probably still in his room."
"M'kay.. I'll go see him. Have a nice date!" he chuckled.
"We aren't-" Maki tried to argue.
"Don't bother." Nobara put her hand on the girl's shoulder with an annoying look in her eyes. A date? It wasn't that bad to hear.
Megumi was standing outside his room pretending to care about what Gojo was telling him. It was something stupid, nothing beneficial or even funny. No one really his talks as much as Itadori but Itadori liked everything if it was coming from a loved one.
"Hey, Fushiguro! Oh hi Gojo! Sorry for interrupting your conversation." It was Yuji "Fushiguro, you wanna train with me and Inumaki? We can just hang out after since Nobara's with Maki again." His eyes were focused on Megumi's way more on his teacher's.
"I'll leave you two to it, I'm sure I'll be able to finish the story some other time." And the man left like he came.
pathetic if you ask Sukuna who was wandering around his domain. This was the so called strongest? Being stuck in the body of a young boy that can hold his control was torture. Not to mention being able to know what the brat's thinking every so often. It's normal for a boy his age but was still annoying. Girls, fighting and his friends were most of it. Saving people and Megumi were on the front lines though. Sukuna couldn't figure out why. The king was interested in the boy because of his power but Yuji couldn't care less about that in his daily life. It wasn't important tho, these kids were useless to him right now.
"Yeah, we can train for a while." Fushiguro answered.
"And then hang out?"
"Okay. Fine by me." He would be glad to hang out with a friend he valued so much. A friend has to be valued.
The boys finished training and started wondering around the school grounds. Talking about things they saw online and in real life, all of it was on the list. Then Yuji looked at his friend. He liked looking at him from time to time, he found that pleasure weird. Why did he like looking at his friend like that? Aprreciation? It was different, more personal. He couldn't figure it out for the life of him. He liked when they were close, when Megumi trusted him with secrets, when Megumi would help him. He liked it, he liked him.
He liked him.
That was something he knew but couldn't accept so he searched for other possibilities. Attachment issues? Had never experienced it before. He was willing to accept the idea of obsession. He didn't think he can be inlove with a man. Let alone one so different than him. He had nothing against the idea yet it didn't make sense.
"You okay?" Megumi asked turning his classmate's gaze away "You zoned out."
"Yeah, don't worry about it." he even liked his voice, it was calm yet affectionate. What was wrong with him. Why couldn't he get it? "Fushi, do you sometimes just... feel like something is too complicated to figure out when it's not supposed to be?" What was he saying?
Megumi looked at Yuji "I get what you mean. But there is only one truth, you have to find out what it is even if it doesn't seem possible." he really got what his friend was asking him, but there wasn't much he could say as he himself didn't have an answer.
Didn't think you actually liked the boy. Sukuna thought. Idiot. Complete idiot. He wouldn't mind interfering but there was really no amusement in doing so, they were kids. Stupind kids who don't know what they are doing. They picked a path that will get them killed and they still wasted their time in stupid conversations like this. The reason Fushiguro Megumi was n't dead was because The king of curses wanted him alive.
"Itadori."
"Yes?" The kid answered trying to pull himself together as his eyes were already closing while literally walking.
"Do you want to go back to the dorms? You seem way too tired to be wondering around." he was worried but who wouldn't be in his situation? Yuji was acting really weird by his standards. Often zoning out and staring.
"Yes, maybe. But we have to finish the movie! we're only at the start you know."
"I'll see if i can get Kugisaki so we can watch the movie together." he wanted to go home, he was too done with walking even if it was with Yuji. He enjoyed being with Yuji almost as he did with his sister. Almost...
The boys headed for the dorms and Yuji pulled out his phone out of pocked. He picked Kugisaki's number and waited for her to pick up.
"What?"
"Were wondering if you wanna watch Human earthworm 1 with us. You know, me and Fushiguro."
"Can't we watch something else? You really have no taste!" she said already already remembering the boring beginning of the movie."Where are you two anyway?"
"We were just hanging out. Outside."
"Wow, how romantic.." che chuckled a bit
"You gotta stop with it dude," his ear tips got pinkish "it's getting annoying.""You're annoying too but I don't say anything.
"No, you deffinetly do!" He argued before his voice got quieter "So are you coming?"
"You two can watch it, I'm not wasting my time."
"You lose." he ended the call. Yuji never understood how his friends don't like the movie.
"This movie is so good!" Yuji yelled while turning his head to Megumi sitting behind him "Do you not like it?"
"It's not that bad." It was ridiculous but the story was decent. Yet the only reason he would ever watch it, was for Yuji. He had no reason declining but it's not like he had anything else to do.
Yuji yawned "Oh man, I'm getting tired."
'We can stop if you want to.'
"No, I just..." The boy moved next to Fushiguro "Is it okay if I fall asleep for you to pause the movie?"
"It's not a problem"
A few minutes passed and Yuuji was already asleep on Megumi's hand and shoulder. The black haired boy just waited for him to fall asleep deeper so that so that moving him won't be a problem, yet it felt good. Having Itadori rely on him for something simple felt nice. Being close with him felt great, but Fushiguro already knew why. He had known for long enough.
What am I doing... I have to stop the movie. He's just asleep, nothing more. It was selfish yet it wouldn't stop. Megumi got up, carefully laying Yuuji down on the bed and putting a blanked on him. He stopped the movie and turned the TV off. His gaze shifted to Itadori right before he walked out the door and heading to his room.
"So what are you guys going to do?" Nobara asked as the three of them were heading to the city.
"Not sure, I want to hang out with you two but only if you're free." Yuuji said turning his head from Kugisaki to Megumi.
"Ï'm down." she answered with a grin.
"Me too, I have nothing to do." Megumi said, he seemed like he was in a good mood. He laughed more than usually and his voice was way softer ""Where are we going then?"
"Well there's a concert from 8 PM in Yoyoki park, we can go there!"
"It's early tho."
"Do you guys wanna drink something?" Kugisaki said turning her head over to the boys listening to the band get ready for the concert "Could be alcohol too."
"Get me a small beer, don't want anything heavy!" Yuuji answered while turning his eyes to Megumi's. "Will you get anything, Fushiguro?"
"No, I don't feel like it." he mumbled shifting his eyes to Nobara.
"You lose." she yelled with her back towards the boys and moving towards the crowd.
The two of sorcerers liked listening to music and their tastes were pretty similiar. Megumi looked at Yuuji after Kugisaki was lost in the pile of people behind them "Since when do you drink anyway?"
"A while." the pink haired boy's cheeks got warmer. He kept looking up at Fushiguro's dark eyes who's colour he couldn't figure out, always wondering between green and blue. He was beautiful that was for sure. Yuuji's entire head was turned to him while Megumi was only following him with his eyes and still facing the stage. They enjoyed looking at eachother, not in a weird way it just made their heartbeats go faster.
"That's a bad habit." Megumi said as his gaze moved away from Yuuji.
"Are you worried about me or something~?" Itadori teased before getting hit in the head "Ow-!"
"No, I'm just stating a fact."
"Ph, sure." he mumbled tilting his entire body to the other side.
A silence fell between the two of them. Not an awkward one, just silence.
"Itadori, I'm glad I met a good person like you. You're really kind." Megumi's ears and cheeks became a redish pin, very visible in the light of the sunset.
"Where did that come from>?" Yuji's heartbeat grew but he wasn't focused on that. It happened often when he was around the black-haired boy ""Fushiguro?"
"It's nothing, I'm just being honest. You're kind and strong. And handsome, It's not a big surprise so many girls like you, not a big surprise." Megumi turned away with embarrassment clear in his expression. It sounded so weird yet the boy couldn't really help it.
Yuji blushed from how awkward the complement felt, he was never that ggood at taking them "Same goes for you if you think about." Megumi was really pretty in his opinion and Kugisaki always agreed with him on that so it wasn't much of a debate.
"Yeah, it's not my first time hearing you say that." he was flustered to say the least. He liked hearing Yuji's voice when it was calm.
Itadori's head was tilted and his gaze was turned towards nothing "Well from what I can get your hair is a good length and your eyes are like blue mixed with green. People like your appearance a lot." his eyebrows moved further from eachother and his voice gre more confident "You would have noticed if you got your eyes off the ground!"
"Not funny."
"It's funny."
Kugisaki ran up the them holding the two cups "Here's yours, Itadori! This one's for me."
"Thanks!" Yuji said as he lifted the cup up to his lips. The music was already on. It was a rock band and a good one at that "It's not that bad of a song, huh?"
"Yes, I really like it." her hair was well styled in her usual bob "It would've been better if Maki-san was here..."
Megumi grunted "Can you stop talking about her for a while?" he complained rolling his eyes.
"Can you stop talking about that idiot?" she pointed towards Yuji.
"You talk about me a lot Fushi?" Itadori chuckled with a wide grin.
"Are you drunk? That's what your voice's telling me." Megumi deadpanned looking Yuji up and down.
"No!" he yelled waving his arn infront of Megumi's face "I'm just teasing, don't worry."
"Can you two do your flirting somewhere else? I want to listen to the band, we bearly go to any concerts."
"We aren't doing that." Megumi argued. His hair was already unstyled and the few lights of the stage were reflecting in his eyes.
"I'm just kidding! Calm down!"
Yuji grabbed Nobara's shoulder from next to him "Kugisaki, Fushiguro, don't argue now!"
"Yes, it's not worth it." Megumi mumbled.
"You're down bad..." Nobara whispered turning her head to Megumi.
"Am not." Kugisaki sighted, Megumi wasn't sure of how she knew about his feeling for Itadori and he had never really asked "How do you know anyway?" he whispered moving a step away from his classmate and facing him with his back.
She shrugged humming to herself, there wasn't a specific reason for her to assume Megumi has a crush on Yuji but it was just obvious. The way the boys' tones always felt softer when they were together the way Fushiguro always listened to Itadori first, just their behaviour when they were together wass enough for her to catch up. She turned away looking at the people laughing next to them. After a few seconds her small smile faded getting replaced with annoyance a sMegumi started talking with her again.
"Do you think he knows?" he whispered.
"If you mean Itadori, then no." she answered "He didn't even notice that Ozawa liked him!"
Yuji turned to the other side and thn back at his friends. He looked exited and opened his mouth shaking "C'mon guys, we gotta go to that stance over there!"
Sukuna, can I ask something? Well I don't need your aprroval. You are really old so what were the sorserers back then? He didn't really get and answer before he asked something else And what the hell do you want with Fushiguro?
A mouth suddenly appeared on his hand "I can't spill my plans to you, brat."
"Why not? You think I will stop you?"
"i don't but I still need to be careful."
"Fine.." Yuuji said rolling his eyes to look around his room "I won't let you hurt him, I don't care what it takes."
Sukuna hummed and then let out a quiet chuckle "You really love than bum, don't you?"
"You think?"
"It's obvious, brat." this was idiotic. He was annoyed, this is one of the only emotions Yuuji ever brought to him, he had no interest in how the friendship would end.
"Don't call me that." the boy shifted his weight to his other side "I won't let you get in my head!"
"Do whatever you want. I won't waste my time!"
The mouth disappeared and the student let out a sigh. He thought about what the king of curses said, him loving Megumi seemed like something impossible but he supposed it made sense. But even if he did it was nothing but a high school crush, it wasn't important.
