When in life you have the chance to have a career at the top and a perfect relationship, there are always trials to know if your couple is made to last. Nami had to go through this a few months ago, when she got an offer to work abroad for a year without the possibility of returning home, in exchange for the promise to become vice-director of her company if she agreed. The proposal is enticing, but she hesitated on the moment given how perfect her relationship with his girlfriend was at that time, proposing to Luffy that if she ever waits for him, the two will get engaged as soon as she returns, by telling her that she doesn’t have to wait for him, that she can live her life very well, but if feelings are still present after a year, the two will prepare their marriage, receiving a positive response from Luffy.
In fact, the biggest risk between the two is that with their time difference they can no longer even communicate properly, to the point that, without wanting to, they would become perfect strangers to each other. But when she left, Nami was hopeful about her relationship, telling herself that after all five years of being a couple, it didn’t just go away in a snap, with Luffy assuming that it was just a long-distance relationship, sending her lots of silly videos and slightly stupid messages on WhatsApp just to show that she still loves him, although over time she still sends a few fewer messages.
The year ended up going perfectly for Nami, who is always afraid when she comes home to learn that she will be left behind, telling herself that nothing in life is guaranteed, but keeping the possibility that Luffy really waited for her and that her fewer messages are just due to the fact that she managed to find a daily newspaper. Nami bought the biggest ring she could afford before leaving for the airport, keeping hope at all times.
During the ten-hour flight, Nami never managed to have peace of mind, going through all possible emotions, knowing that at least she will be able to move forward in her career, so at best she wouldn’t have lost anything, by coming back to the city in the middle of the night and going to sleep at her sister’s so she can rest.
The next morning, in order to see if this year will have been beneficial for their couple or not, Nami went to Luffy’s house, who immediately welcomed her by hugging and kissing her, as he missed Nami so much, confirming to both women that they are made to be together. Upon entering the apartment, Nami is surprised to see a ton of gifts for her, with Luffy explaining that whenever she found something nice, she had bought it for her return.
"So you agree to become my wife? Do you want to marry me and live with me? Do you really want to?" Not hiding her joy, Nami is happy to say that she has waited for her, finding that she really has a perfect life.
Nodding, Luffy wants to be his wife as long as she loves him, not wanting to be with anyone other than his current girlfriend. " Yes! Yes, I want us to be women and women because I love you too much! I love you even more than the sun!"
"Do I have to kneel or not to put a ring on your finger? What do you prefer?" Really wanting to do things the right way, Nami feels like it’s the best moment of her life for now as long as everything is perfect.
Not even knowing, Luffy just wants to have the ring around his finger. " I don’t know, that way it’s perfect! Yes! That way, it’ll be better to kiss you! But if you want to be on your knees, I don’t mind!"
"Alright! I’ll just take the box out of my bag, so don’t move, it won’t take me more than a minute, and I hope you like the ring!"
Both of them feel quite stupid at the moment, not knowing what to do, but that doesn’t stop them from being happy, with Nami making an official and shaky marriage proposal, not really knowing how to put herself together or what to say, making Luffy laugh who, Of course, accept by kissing him before reaching out his hand to receive the ring.
The two then begin to prepare their wedding, not really knowing what they want, if it is that they want something very colorful, so they imagine a ceremony surrounded by all their friends. After two years of daily decisions and other preparations, they end up uniting in a secular ceremony on the theme of the rainbow to have as many colors as possible, to the delight of their guests who have done everything to be in the theme. After a while, Luffy joins his wife during the party to have a little moment just for them, between the meal and the opening of the ball.
"I love you... You don’t even know how much I love you, you are the woman of my eternity! Even death won’t separate us." Giving him a drink while telling him that, Luffy has been on cloud nine since the beginning of the evening, wanting to stay in this happiness forever.
Drinking from the glass she gave him, Nami agrees with her, saying that both of them really organized the best wedding ever." You are also the woman of my life, never doubt it."
"I promise, I’ll be back as soon as we meet!"
If both Nami and Luffy have to take care of their guests, as soon as they can even a few minutes, they come to spend time together, knowing that this is the most important thing for both of them. They are lucky that from the moment the cake is offered to guests, they no longer have to take care of others, so they can see each other more, enjoying eating the cake on the same plate, being certain that this kind of small moments will often happen to them until they become little old women.
