The morning at the skatepark was warm, the sun beaming through the foliage and buildings that otherwise shielded the light. A tiny breeze squeezed between Coil and Boombox as they trudged through the park, scanning the small groups of people nearby for any sign of their two particular inphernals.
As they entered a part of the park where the sun glares was especially unforgiving, Coil raised her left hand up to her face into a salute position to shield her eyes.
After a bit more walking, Boombox slowed down and nudged Coil to stop as well.
"Do you think Skate and Vine are even here yet?" Boombox asked.
"This is our usual time..." Coil's eyes continued darting around, her brow furrowed in annoyance as she continued, "I wouldn't put it past Skate to have overslept though, especially after all of those noodles she practically inhaled yesterday..."
Boombox smiled awkwardly. "Yeah, maybe. What about Vine, though?"
"Probably being held back by Slin-" Coil started to say before pausing, her eyes practically exploding with shock, tapping at Boom's shoulders and pointing to their left.
There was Skateboard, their red inphernal, around 20 meters away from them, resting on a bench. Each of their snores rumbled through the air as their whole body was sprawled out on every top surface of their seat, their face to the sky as if absorbing the sun's rays.
Boombox's eyes also widened. They turned and started running in Skateboard's direction. "Oh finally! Come on, Coil, lets go-"
"Wait-wait-wait-wait." Coil grabbed onto Boombox's hat brim, stopping them in their tracks while they continued running in midair. Coil scratched her head with her other hand. "I have an idea... Why don't we prank Skate?"
"Oh, are we gonna scare them awake??" Boombox stopped running in midair. "... Okay, sure!"
Coil let go of Boom's hat while beckoning them over as she crouched underneath a nearby bush.
Boom followed suit, "So then, what's the plan?"
"We could wait until they wake up and start looking for us, jumping up when they turn around this corner, but Skate could literally be asleep *forever*..." Coil raised her hands up underneath her chin in thought. "We could also sneak over to them and improvise from there, though I worry that one accidental sound could startle Skate awake... they're not a very deep sleeper..."
"Options, options..." Boom stared at Skate through the bush, deep in thought.
"So then, what do you think?" Coil asked.
"I think we should wait first and see which method ends up being better!"
Coil and Boom's faces wrinkled in confusion, realizing that the last sentence was not from either of them. They both spun their heads behind them and *screamed* in terror.
Vine Staff towered before the both of them, more so thanks to Coil's and Boom's croutching position as well as the shadow he cast on them making him look even taller.
Despite Vine Staff's menacing stature, he was taken by surprise by Coil and Boom's screaming and too started screaming.
The three screamed at each other for 5 seconds before Coil shut up and quickly grabbed Vine's hand and pulled him next to her before clasping that same hand over Vine's mouth.
Vine and Boom stopped screaming before all three of them snapped their heads to look at Skate. Skate remained unmoving and still snoring loudly.
Coil released her hand from Vine's mouth and let her speak.
"Sorry, sorry, I'm so sorry!" Vine cried. "I thought you guys knew I was there!"
Coil resumed putting her hands underneath her chin. "No, no, *we're* sorry, Vine. We completely forgot you were coming with us, thats *our* bad."
Vine shook his head. "No, no, that's alright! ...So, we are going to "prank" Skateboard?"
"Yup," Coil replied. "Mx. Skate over here didn't pay her part of the noodle bill last night, so we're doing a little payback."
"Okay! Yay!" Vine quietly clapped his hands together, before pausing and glancing at Skate. "... Do you... think she's noticed us, though?"
"Nah," Boom piped in. "She hasn't moved at *all*. If she had reacted to something, we would have known. Kind of weird..."
"I mean, screams happen every day at the skate park," Coil said. "It's probably background noise to her at this point."
"Still..." Boom muttered something else under their breath before shaking themself out of their trance. "I suppose that is true."
"This is true!" Vine agreed, also shaking herself to copy Boom.
"Okay, I'm thinking we go with waiting and seeing what Skate does before deciding on the final method," Coil thought out loud. "I wouldn't want us to sneak midway to the bench only for Skate to get up and start looking for us farther away."
"That sounds good," Boom said.
Vine nodded in agreement.
For a few minutes, the three spied on Skate, watching for any sign of consciousness or awareness on Skate's side. However, Skate remained unmoving. At one point, Vine muttered, under his breath, a concern about whether Skate was even alive, but was reassured by her constant snoring.
After a bit, Coil beckoned for the others to follow after her and whispered, "to the left". After a bit of confusion about which left Coil was talking about, they all tried to make sure their heads were below any objects that blocked them from Skate's view as they snuck around the path to the bench, though any passerby would have still seen the trio's horns poking out like spikes out of the bushes and fences.
The trio were about halfway to the bench when Skate abruptly sat up and opened her eyes wide, her chest heaving with each breath. Coil stopped and raised her arms to the back to stop the other two from moving, though they made several rustling noises in the process.
Everyone held their breath as Skate's eyes darted around, at one point settling near the spot where Coil and the others were sitting behind a solid fence, but then continuing to move around before she closed her eyes and slumped back on the bench again. It was only after Skate started snoring again that Boom and Vine let out a sigh of relief while Coil silently resumed breathing.
A few minutes later, the trio finally arrived at a bush behind Skate's bench, and watched their inphernal carefully.
Once Skate showed no hint of waking up, Coil began to rise, Vine and Boom following after her. Their shadows spread across Skate and the bench as the three towered over. Under her breath, Coil started to count down.
3... 2... 1...
"Yo guys!" Traffic said. "What's up?"
The trio screamed and spun around to stare wide eyed at Traffic, who was waving at them geekfully.
"T-Traffic!" Boom whimpered, "where the *swords* did you come from?!"
"I was like, gonna check on Skate to make sure they weren't dead or whatever," Traffic said, "but then like, I saw you guys and I got so surprised! Like man, what are you guys doing?"
"BOO!!!" Skate shot up and grabbed onto Coil, who started screeching in terror, scaring Vine Staff, Boombox, and Traffic, who also starting screeching. Their section of the skatepark was a cacophony of screams for a moment before everyone finally calmed down.
"Ugh..." Coil muttered. "Did you know we were gonna scare you this *whole time*?!"
"Yeah man," Skate said, "since you and Boom started talking about scaring me. You were only like 6 inphernal meters away from me dude."
Coil facepalmed while Boom and Vine bowed their heads in sadness. Traffic just continued standing there with that dumb smile on their face.
"Well..." Boom said, "we tried...?"
"Yeah yeah, whatever," Coil sighed. "Skate, you got us good, y'know."
"Heh!" Skate grinned. "Sorry you guys didn't get me, though... You know what, here!"
Skate swiftly grabbed Coil, Boom, and Vine and wrapped her arms around them in a sudden hug.
"GAH! Okay, okay! We get it!" Coil stammered, closing her eyes in embarrassment.
"Aww!" Boom squealed, their visor eyes changing to a heart emoticon.
"Yay!" Vine cheered, smiling gleefully.
"Man, this is so sweet," Traffic said, standing off to the side while wiping a tear from their eye.
The four inphernals all stood there hugging each other until they pulled away, resolving to have the best day at the skatepark. They all lived happily ever after in a normal gay way while Traffic went to go smoke weed or something. The end.
