Summary:

bucky barnes is desperate to get sam's attention, even if this means annoying him to no end

Work Text:

Bucky was hopelessly in love with Sam, he'd do almost anything to get his attention. Including annoying him.

"Who left all the dirty dishes in the sink, again!?" Sam called out, clearly irritated already.

Sam didn't have to ask really, of course it had been Bucky. Sam had no idea what had gotten into Bucky lately, it was almost like he wanted to be annoying him. Sam knew Bucky was doing it but he couldn't for the life of him figure out why.

"Sorry, Sam," Bucky called back, a faux guilty expression spreading across his face. "I got caught up, total accident. I'll fix that now." And that grin, that stupid grin.

Sam knew the guilty expression was fake, he'd seen it before. When Bucky tried, and failed, to guilt trip enemies on a mission. He was always horrible at lying.

"Accident huh? Just like you 'accidentally' leave all your mission reports in my room?"

"Exactly."

It was infuriating! And Sam could never even prove that Bucky was doing it on purpose because he was the only one that could see that shit-eating grin Bucky got whenever Sam told him off. And Bucky was perfectly tidy every time the other Avengers were around. "And you definitely haven't done this on purpose?"

"Now why would I do that? You really think so little of me? I'm hurt," Bucky joked, rolling his eyes and starting to clean the dishes.

"God, you are so oblivious," Natasha muttered as she walked by, giving Sam that knowing look of hers.

"Hey! What's that meant to mean?" Sam wasn't having that, he shot Bucky one last dirty look before following Natasha to her room. "What did you mean by that?"

She just rolled her eyes. "He's annoying you so you'll notice him, idiot. That's what Bucky does when he feels neglected, turns into a little shit."

Sam's eyebrows shot up "Bucky feels neglected?"

"Well, what did you expect? The two of you have been so busy with missions that you haven't even gone out on a proper date in months."

"Oh, oh.. Really?"

Natasha sighed, "Yes. Have you not seen those puppy eyes he's been giving you? Go get your man,"

Sam smiled to himself, secretly feeling a little pleased, and turned back to walk to the kitchen. But Bucky wasn't there anymore, and the dishes were done. Sam sighed and looked around the common room, only Tony, Steve and Wanda.

"Has anyone seen Bucky?" Sam asked, looking down the hallway.

"I think he went back to his room,"

"Oh, thanks, Wanda." Sam groaned and started to talk the long walk up the stairs to get to Bucky's room. Why did it have to be the top floor? So, so many flights of stairs.

"Buck, can I come in? I'm sorry that I've been so distant, you know how I get when I'm swamped with work? Wanna cuddle all night?"

"Come in," Came Bucky's voice, Sam was not expecting to walk in and see Bucky sat at his desk in just his boxers.

They hadn't been.. sexual at all yet, but that didn't mean Sam didn't notice things. "Holy shit." Bucky had already been muscular before the super serum, he'd told Sam that, so now with the effect of that he was pretty much massive and Sam was definitely a big fan.

He tried hard to pry his eyes away, to stop them from going lower and lower.. but Bucky was gorgeous, it was impossible to not look. "My eyes are up here, Wilson,"

"Right, yes, sorry," He stammered, cheeks flushing already.

"Are you ok? Why are you here?"

"I love you, Buck. And I'm sorry that I've made you feel neglected recently, I've been busy with missions and haven't given you time, that's my fault. But annoying me isn't the way to go about it, hun, you know I love when you're honest with me. We need to have these hard conversations sometimes, ok?"

"You came all the way up just to get me to talk about my feelings?"

"Yes,"

"Ok, but not tonight. I'm too.. tired."

"Wanna cuddle until you fall asleep?" Sam asked, smirking. He didn't know if it was his presence that stopped Bucky's nightmares or the physical aspect of just having someone next to you, but they slept together almost every night. It seemed to helpzs

It was never nice to wake up to Bucky screaming or whimpering about his time as the Winter Soldier, so Sam always complied. Even if it meant waking up to a 6ft. super soldier using you as a mattress.

Bucky nodded and patted his bed, Sam followed his lead and the two of them fell asleep wrapped up around eachother like pretzels.
