Contradictions. Chen Kuanjui is made up of nothing but contradictions.
Kuanjui tells their sister to sleep earlier at 4am in the morning. Kuanjui is a boy but also not a boy. Kuanjui is overjoyed to the point of tears when Hao wins Boys Planet and still wants to take a long walk off a short pier because it wasn't them on that stage.
They've never lost before. Not like this.
Kuanjui is a fucking narcissist. They know they dance well — exceptionally well, in fact. Which other contestant can do the splits, much less an airborne cartwheel?
So they're definitely not lacking in that department.
If they were, Kuanjui would have just killed themselves. Because what else were the twenty plus years of training for? Maybe it's the star power they're missing, whatever that is; they've been training together with Hao for years now.
If he can make it but they can't— it just means they're not enough. Kuanjui can train until they wear grooves into the wooden floor and still won't have the kind of innate talent needed to debut. It's something they can't control.
So why?
Why try?
Just give up at this point.
They will never be Hao.
