It wasn’t even that humiliating. Not really. Harry had lived through much more humiliating things in his life.
Maybe it was the fact that he thought that everyone knew already that he lived with his sister’s family and that they were utter twits. Still, when he had been forced into doing occlumency classes with Snape, he hadn’t really expected Snape to throw himself violently out of Harry’s head and stare at him with such an inscrutable expression.
Okay, so maybe it was a little humiliating. Maybe Harry didn’t want people to know that he had been chased up a tree by his uncle’s sister’s dog, and that his aunt and uncle treated him like rubbish.
Maybe it was a lot humiliating, actually.
Snape released him quickly after that, and Harry raced down the hall until he ran directly into Luna, who was… Harry had no idea what she was doing, actually.
“Luna? What are you doing?”
“Harry!” She said in excitement. “Oh it’s so good to see you! Here, sit down, I’ll show you.”
Harry smiled at the easy acceptance and sat down next to Luna as she excitedly showed him how to weave magical flowers together into what Harry thought was a cardigan.
His ‘cardigan’ wound up being exceptionally lopsided and consisted more of holes than whatever the magical flowers that Luna apparently grew, but it was a fun task that took his mind off Snape.
“It’s beautiful, Harry,” Luna told him with a smile. “Here, let’s trade.”
Hers was much more beautiful than his was, but Harry couldn’t have felt more loved when he saw Luna wearing his cardigan the next morning.
