Work Text:

It's been six months since Garth kissed Benny and things couldn't be better. Garth finally feels like he has this monster thing down to a science, confident he's in control of himself again.

Benny couldn't be more proud of him.

Garth is the most incredible person he's ever met. Endlessly kind and the human (werewolf, really) embodiment of sunshine. He thanks his lucky stars every day that this amazing man chooses to stay with his grumpy old ass.

They've really settled here. Garth's made it a home rather than just a place to live. With every run into town, he brings back some decoration or furniture piece to add to their place.

No one bothers them. On the rare occasion Sam and Dean check in, they call first. They haven't told anyone yet about their romance, feels good to keep it private. Something just for them.

Though, really everything up here at the cabin is just for them. Their own little world of peace and isolation.

Benny hasn't been this happy in a long, long time.

He and Garth are snuggled up on the couch in front of the fire one night, watching something on the television called 'The Golden Girls'. One of Garth's favorites.

Garth has been silent for so long where he rests on Benny's chest that he thinks he's sleeping. Until he speaks suddenly, startling Benny. "We should go see Sam and Dean's new place."

Benny rubs his arm. "Oh yeah? The bunker?"

"Yeah!" Garth chirps, sitting up to look at him with a big smile. "We could stay for a bit, cook for 'em. Like a housewarming!"

"That's a great idea," Benny says. "I could make a big pot of gumbo, so they can live off the leftovers for a bit."

"And I could make brookies!" Garth jumps up, goes to the kitchen where he left his phone on the table. "I'll call, ask when a good time is for us to make the trip."

Turns out a good time is tomorrow. Garth is too excited, Benny can't tell him no, so they're going tomorrow.

The drive is going to take about twelve hours. They get up at 4 am to pack and then head off.

"First road trip together," Garth says from the passenger seat, grinning widely. "Can you believe it?! I thought my life was over when that werewolf bit me and here I am taking a road trip with the man that I lo- that I'm dating!"

Benny grabs his hand, brings his knuckles to his lips for a kiss. "I share the sentiment, mon cheri."

Benny so badly wants to say those three words, but he's too nervous. What if Garth isn't there yet? What if he never gets there? He thinks he could be okay with that. Maybe this is good enough as is without going further.

Garth sidles up to Benny and he's never been happier to have a truck with a bench seat.

They make it to Lebanon by sunset. It's hard to find the door to the bunker, but eventually Benny does. He pulls his truck off the road into the cover of some trees, throwing it in park.

Garth stretches, coming out of sleep. "That was quick."

"Only cause you were sleepin' nearly the whole time," Benny chuckles, kissing the side of his head.

Benny goes to get out and Garth stops him with a hand on his thigh. "Wait a sec."

"What-?" Benny's cut off when Garth pulls him into a kiss.

"What was that for?" he asks when they part, cradling Garth's face.

Garth just smiles, eyes flicking back down to Benny's lips. "I dunno. Felt like it. Just thinking about how we've been all by ourselves for six months and now we have to behave in front of other people."

Benny smiles, kisses him again. "Who says we gotta behave, sweetheart?"

Garth wraps his arms around Benny's neck, kisses him harder. Benny grabs his hips, hoists him onto his lap.

"This feels like we're being bad," Garth says, resting their foreheads together.

Benny laughs. "You could never be bad, honey. No matter how hard you try."

Garth glances to the side suddenly and yelps in fear. Benny immediately puts Garth behind him, looks out the window at the threat, ready to bear his fangs.

"Woah, woah!" Dean says as he and Sam hold up their hands. "It's just us, man!"

Benny throws the door open. "What the hell?"

"You scared the bejesus out of us!" Garth yells, clutching his chest.

Sam and Dean look amused, hiding smiles. "Since when is this a thing?" Dean asks, motioning between them.

"None of your business, that's when," Benny says, walking around to the truck bed and pulling out his and Garth's bags.

Garth hops out, slams the door. "Since six months ago. It was our six month anniversary yesterday."

"Congratulations," Sam says, smiling warmly and hugging Garth who already has him enveloped in one. "I'm so happy for you guys, really. That's amazing."

Dean keeps his eyes on Benny, a smug look on his face. "Bet you wanna thank me, huh?"

Benny rolls his eyes, slamming his truck bed shut and grabbing the bags. "Just take us inside."

Sam and Dean laugh, leading them to the door. Garth nudges Benny with his elbow. "Cheer up, they could've found out in a worse way. We could've been naked."
