Chapter Text
Tired. Hungry. Tired... Hungry... Tired...
I stumbled after the two boys in front of me, my hands in the pockets of my uniform and my bag slung across my slumped shoulders. It was late at night, so the subway station was completely deserted, making our footsteps echo as we made our way to the train waiting with open doors for us.
"Can't believe we made it in time with how slow you two were," Bakugou gruffed, ducking his head while walking into the train (even though he didn't need to duck) and was quick to slouch onto one of the seats nearest to the automated doors.
Todoroki hardly even blinked at the tired insult, settling on Bakugou's right with his bag politely on his lap and his head leaning back against the window behind him. Bakugou's bag was between his legs on the floor.
I, on the other hand, huffed in annoyance, stopping in front of Bakugou and kicking his shin with as much force as I could muster. Which wasn't a lot at the moment, but the thought was what counted. I was never too tired to get offended by Bakugou's mindless insults.
He scowled back at me, kicking my shin right back. "Shut up and sit down before you fall. 'Cause I ain't catching you, Oreo. You'll look pretty stupid when the train starts and you lose your balance."
"I will catch her then," Todoroki mumbled, eyes half-lidded and head still tipped back as he looked to me. I grinned slightly, pointing at the heterochromatic male and giving Bakugou a smug look.
"See? At least, he's on my side-" I started, about to kick Bakugou's shin once more in retaliation, but it was then that the train started to move and I lost my balance since I was only standing on one foot at the moment, nearly toppling over. I would have properly fallen if both of them didn't reach towards me, Todoroki catching my bag as it slipped off my shoulder and Bakugou gripping my bicep to steady me.
In the same second he grabbed my bicep, he maneuvered me to the seat on his left, forcing me to sit down as he grumbled, "dumbass," under his breath about five times.
I flushed, embarrassed, but I cursed and curled up in my seat, leaning away from Bakugou and towards the divider glass on the other side of me. Suddenly, I was too tired to be annoyed at Bakugou or be surprised at their reflexes.
I did mumble a thanks under my breath though.
The silence then returned between us as the train sped over the rails. Todoroki kept my bag atop his on his lap and Bakugou had let go of my arm, returning to crossing them over his chest as he closed his eyes. Their shoulders were touching, but neither of them moved away. Heck, Todoroki, who had pulled out his phone a moment ago, didn't even consider to tilt the screen away from the blond who could have seen what he was doing. Not that Bakugou cared to, but still. It showed that either the heterochromatic was too tired to think of that, or he was too tired to care.
We were all clearly exhausted. But who would succumb to it first?
"Midoriya sent me a text," Todoroki suddenly spoke up, holding up his phone in gesture and scrolling through something. It tugged both our attention to him, with the blond scrunching his nose at the mention of Deku.
I stifled a yawn, not wanting to seem the most tired out of us three. "What 'bout it?"
"He says there's no dinner left for us," he mumbled, frowning at his screen while me and Bakugou groaned in unison.
"Of course those dipshits wouldn't have saved any," Bakugou sneered, tugging out his own phone to send multiple angry paragraphs to his not-friends. "I make them 5-star meals every single day, but they can't make me anything for once-"
"Us," I interjected, correcting him. "They didn't make us anything."
Bakugou just glared at me in response and I held my hands up in surrender, curling back into myself now that I'd made my point. I drew my legs up to my chest, leaning back against the divider glass while my sneakers settled next to Bakugou's thigh on the seat. Which he, obviously, had a problem with.
"Oreo," he scowled, pushing my sneakers off his thigh, and so, off the seat, "can't sit normally for once in your stupid life?"
I grumbled, cursing, but shifted around anyways, knowing there wasn't much to gain from arguing with an exhausted Bakugou. So I pulled my legs back to my chest and kept my sneakers away from Bakugou, turning around completely. This time, I was facing the divider glass, my shoes pressed lightly on it, so my back was practically resting against his side.
Surprisingly, he didn't say a thing about my new position.
Instead, his left arm moved, wrapping around my middle and resting over my hip. "Stupid... Oreo..." he mumbled half-heartedly, pinching the skin on my hip, that was exposed when my U.A. uniform rode up slightly from all my movement, as though that would make his actions slightly more in character.
I barely even noticed the pinch.
"Getting comfy, Spiky?" I teased, and he smacked my hip in response, huffing.
"You wish. This is just so you won't lose your balance again and slide off the seat. I'm not catching you twice."
I snorted, leaning back against him and adjusting myself in his hold. "You said you wouldn't catch me the first time either. And we all saw what happened-"
Another smack to my hip, yet this one felt lighter, like his exhaustion was surfacing once more.
"Stop hitting her," Todoroki muttered, glancing over at me with a slight frown in his expression. To which I nodded along, tipping my head back to peer at Bakugou and give him a pointed look.
Bakugou scowled yet again, but he directed it at neither me nor Todoroki this time. Instead, his red eyes stayed on his phone, texting what looked like Kirishima if I had to guess by the profile picture. The three of us basked in silence then, with Bakugou texting Kirishima with one hand, Todoroki glancing down the train to the other occupants and me fighting sleep.
Bakugou was warm and I was exhausted. The silence along with the lull of the train was dragging me to sleep and I didn't want to be the first to lose, so I kept blinking awake any time my head would loll to the side.
Thankfully, I wasn't the loser.
Todoroki, probably the most overworked out of us three, slumped sideways suddenly, laying his head onto Bakugou's shoulder as his eyes fluttered shut. The blond bristled in obvious annoyance, but made no move to push Todoroki off for whatever reason.
"Ha, he lost," I snickered, but the yawn that left my mouth right after showed that I was just as much a loser as Todoroki was.
"You clearly about to lose too," Bakugou huffed, pinching my hip once again, though it didn't feel like a pinch. More just like... a hold of sorts. "So just sleep already. You're annoying when you're awake."
I giggled sleepily, shifting in his hold one last time. "Keep us safe, Kacchan~"
"I'll kill you."
But he didn't kill me and I succumbed to sleep, my head falling onto Bakugou's other shoulder while my arms stayed wrapped around myself, shivering slightly in the subway's cool air conditioning. Bakugou tched at both of us, annoyed that he was now the group's unofficial pillow.
He wasn't one to take things just lying down though. So, deciding to take advantage of the moment, he held up his phone and started to take multiple pictures of me and Todoroki, with the later even softly snoring, much to Bakugou's delight. For blackmail, of course. Not for any sort of personal collection. Definitely.
It wasn't every day that two pretty idiots fell asleep on his very broad and muscular shoulders, after all.
Bakugou snickered quietly at the photos he got of us, before going back to texting Kirishima about how much he hated us. His actions weren't lining up, but that was okay, since neither me nor Todoroki were awake to point it out.
After a few more minutes, he glanced at the screen displaying train routes, a frown pinching his tired brows. Their stop was the last one. And it was eight stops away.
How annoying, he thought to himself, huffing under his breath as his arm tightened around my middle. That was the last thing he remembered before he drifted off too, his head slumping against Todoroki's.
If only there was someone to see the adorable sight.
My head on Bakugou's shoulder and my body curled into his side, with my legs half-stretched over the seats. His arm around my middle and his other hand on his lap, loosely holding onto his phone. Todoroki on his other side, head also on Bakugou's shoulder while Bakugou's was atop his. And my bag was with Todoroki's, on his lap.
Just three rivals cozying up to each other after achieving pure exhaustion.
