Chapter Text
Since he is able to know what it means to be in love, Koby assumes that he can have feelings for anyone, no matter their differences, by ticking all the boxes of what is called pansexuality but without knowing the name, just not understanding how it is that some people limit themselves in their love by simply being what many consider to be "a satisfied idiot" never complaining, even managing to remain friends with his exes as long as he is a kind man, even giving them advice on getting back into a relationship, although sometimes his view that everyone is attracted to all genders prevents him from being useful.
Helmeppo, who is gay, often laughed when Koby tried to give him advice when a woman was attracted to him. The fact that he knows it’s involuntary amuses him, knowing that thanks to him, Garp discovered his bisexuality by being delighted to have a student who doesn’t bother with gender norms, but he likes it less when Koby looks at his little girl a bit too much for his taste.
Seeing that Luffy is a bit too complimented by Koby who also brings him food isn’t really what Garp prefers, who thinks she’s too young to have a boyfriend and those, although Luffy is a twenty-one year old woman who was never married in her life.
For Luffy, the person who will have the chance to have her as a girlfriend is the one who will be able to cook to perfection, no matter the gender of the other, she likes to eat, she wants a person who will cook for both of them without having any other criteria of life! The fact that Koby manages to get food without her having to ask him is enough for him, simply because he wants to be in a relationship with Koby and wants to have advice from his grandfather so that he can do things right for once.
Not having time to ask her for advice, not because she is overwhelmed, Luffy works in a food store part-time and has not found anything better, but it’s Garp who has a ton of meetings at the University right now, refusing to be disturbed in the little free time he has, nevertheless finally having the right to rest, Garp buys enough to make homemade tacos and is finally willing to talk to Luffy, wondering why she needs his help, not having to insist that she tells him while not knowing if he should help her or play the role of protective grandfather... Choosing the second option.
"My chops... You know that Koby likes men? That he’s pansexual... Imagine he’s tired of the pretty woman you are?" Having no other ideas, Garp hopes that it will be enough knowing well that Koby has no flaws in being the friend everyone can dream of.
Not knowing the term, Luffy leans his head to the side without understanding, not knowing the meaning of the word. "Pan what? Pancake? The pancake is good... Will you make some for us tomorrow morning?"
"I would do it to you, but pansexual means being able to be in a relationship with a man, a woman or any other human being, no matter their gender or how close they are between their legs..." Giving him the definition, Garp realizes that anyway... His little daughter doesn’t know much.
Nodding, Luffy wants to be in a relationship with Koby even more by telling himself that the definition is good." I’m a pancake too, so he’s really the man of my life! Koby is so amazing!"
"But I want you to stay my chop, you don’t have to get into a relationship with him, you’re young so enjoy life with your friends instead."
Making head nod, Luffy really wants to make a relationship with Koby by talking to him regularly about pancake to the point that he thinks she wants him to make it for him while watching a YouTube video in order to make some, it’s Helmeppo desperate who explained to him that for Luffy, pancake also means pansexual, teaching his friend the term by telling him that since he checks all the boxes, Garp told him he was with Luffy who happens to be also pansexual.
Taking three days to learn more about the subject by finding that it suits him as a term, Koby accepts it being happy that the flag is also beautiful.
Once this short period passes, Koby understands that Luffy wants to be in a relationship with him by making pancakes and writing with chocolate "do you want to be my pancake?" By going to see her, taking care that the message remains intact and asking her to read before eating, Koby doesn’t have time to turn around, as he feels two arms embracing him with lips kissing his cheek.
"Yes! I want to be your pancake! Are you my pancake too?" Being happy, Luffy didn’t think he would be the one to make the first move but it suits him.
Nodding and turning to better embrace her, Koby finds her even more adorable than usual." Obviously, we will be the cutest of the pancakes, filled with love and rainbow colors!"
"It makes me hungry to talk about pancake... Can I kiss you and eat what you brought back?"
The two kiss each other, feeling like they’re on cloud nine before tasting what Koby brought back from starting a simple relationship. Not to worry, having simply learned that their broad visions of love have a name for being happy with each other, naively thinking that it will last all their lives as long as their relationships are healthy, and even managing to make Garp happy for them over time by telling himself that Koby is a good boy so his "côtelette" is in good hands.
