Chapter Text
7 years had passed since Holly Wheeler’s “imaginary” friend had sent a monster to kidnap her to a place called Dimension X.
Holly hadn’t exactly had the best childhood even before she knew monsters and magic existed, with her father not caring about her and siblings always elsewhere. When she found out her dear friend Mr. Whatsit turned out to be basically the devil himself, Holly thought that’s where her life would end, but she lived anyway.
Now, she was a bright 10th grader living with her mom. Mrs. Wheeler divorced Ted a bit after the whole incident, and Holly’s siblings got married and moved out. The house was very quiet most of the time, but she didn’t mind.
“HOLLY! PHONE!” Her mother screamed from downstairs.
Holly rolled her eyes and sat down her pencil. Years of practicing with Will really paid off. Hopping down the stairs, she grabbed the phone from her mom, twirling the cord around her finger and shooing her away. A familiar voice came from the other line.
“Holly?” Debbie whispered.
“Debbie! Hi! What did you need?” Holly chirped, not catching Debbie’s tone.
“Oh- uh..” She hesitated for a moment, “My mom found out that I- um..”
She stuttered, trailing off.
“That you?” Holly questioned, slightly concerned.
“That me and Mary are y’know.. together.” Debbie muttered, voice quivering.
Holly held in a gasp. “Oh, Debbie! Come over! Now!” She urged, hanging up.
Debbie’s mom was always the most passive-aggressive, unloving, and terrible woman Holly had ever met. She could tell by Debbie’s voice that whatever happened was not good.
