"MERRY CHRISTMAS!"
Seokjin felt the bed dip, due to the immense weight suddenly dropped onto his body, and the next thing he knew, he was wheezing his lungs out.
"Taehyungie."
"Seokjin-hyung."
"Can't. Breathe."
"Oh, sorry!"
Taehyung crawled off Seokjin, proceeded to sit next to him on the bed, and gave his hyung a bashful smile.
"Merry Christmas, hyung."
"Merry Christmas, Tae."
"Do you have a present for me?"
"Maybe."
"Maybe?!"
"Taehyungie, you just have to wait and see!"
"But Seokjin-hyung! This is unfair!" he said, as he held Seokjin by the shoulders and shook him.
"What? Do you have a present for me?"
"Of course I do! But now you'll have to wait and see too."
"Fine, fine."
"Now get out of bed before Namjoon-hyung decides to cook breakfast. We don't want to contract food poisoning on Christmas."
"Happy birthday Jesus and may you bless us with good health."
-
After the delightful breakfast prepared by Seokjin, Taehyung approached the older one again and asked for his present.
"How about now?"
"Nope."
"Seokjin-hyung!"
"Patience is a virtue."
"You sound like Yoda."
"I am one with the force and the force is with me."
"Don't remind me of Rogue One, I'm still suffering from the pain of it."
Running out of witty things to reply, Seokjin just chuckled and booped Taehyung on the nose, then ran off to his room to change his clothes. They were going ice skating soon with the rest of the boys.
As much as Taehyung hates having his patience tested, his love for Seokjin's antics weighs out everything.
-
Because Seokjin is Seokjin, the amount of times he fell on his ass wasn't surprising. Snowboarding he can do, but ice skating? On this ice? Unprofessional ice? Not so much.
The first time was because he got distracted by a squirrel in a tree when Hoseok pointed it out.
"Oh, Jin-hyung, look! There's a squirrel!"
"HOBI, I AM TRYING TO SKATE."
The second time was because he tried channeling his pork-cutlet-bowl-esque Eros skating with Jungkook.
"TRIPLE AXEL!"
"JEONGGUK, NO!"
The third time was because Namjoon was talking too philosophically while skating around the rink.
"Okay but the fact that humans found joy in being on ice-"
"No offence Joonie, I love you and your brain, but if you continue that thought I'd have to be in awe over it and fall on my ass-"
"Congratulations."
"Thanks."
The fourth time was because he let go of Yoongi's hand. Needless to say, Yoongi wasn't happy, because he fell too. They were both quite awful as they made the bright decision of adjusting to being too dependent on each other.
"SEOKJIN-HYUNG!"
"YOONGI!"
The fifth time was because he bumped into Jimin right after getting up from his fall with Yoongi.
"Your timing is perfect."
"And I thought Namjoon-hyung was clumsy."
"Jimin, we're on terrible ice, this is different!" he wailed.
Taehyung watched all these scenarios with a grin etched on his face.
Shaking his head, he skated towards the distressed boy, and helped him up.
"You have to be more careful, hyung."
"I swear I'm trying."
"Are you still willing to continue skating?"
"As long as my butt stays far away from the ice, I'm fine," he giggled out.
"Then I won't let you fall." Taehyung smiled.
"Promise me."
"I promise."
-
Taehyung was lain on his bed, staring at the dark ceiling above him.
He wasn't sure of his feelings towards Seokjin.
Everyone loves and appreciates every member of their group, but not in that way.
At least he thinks so.
But he started thinking more.
Sometimes, Jeongguk stares at Jimin way too long and Yoongi does the same to Hoseok. Whenever Yoongi does anything cute, Jimin and Hoseok loook too content with life, and Taehyung catches Namjoon glancing at Jimin or Seokjin a bit too fondly to be considered friendly. He hardly sees Seokjin looking at anyone that way, apart from Namjoon on rare occasions, and sometimes he feels like Jeongguk and Jimin grab his attention longer than they should be.
Okay, maybe, his friends were a bit in love with one another. That's not so bad, right? They all went through thick and thin together, but why did he feel like his stomach did somersaults whenever he looked at Seokjin?
It felt different with Seokjin, and it confused him to the ends of the Earth.
It felt like he was in love with the moon, something that would never love him back, because he was just a microscopic speck of dust doing wishful thinking, compared to the giant stars glowing along and surrounding it with light in the vast vacuum of space.
He needed to stop staying up late at night talking about things like this with Namjoon. How does Namjoon even stay calm with these kinds of thoughts whirring in his mind everyday?
Oh, right. He writes them down for us to sing.
Taehyung heard a knock on the door and grunted as he got up to open it.
"Seokjin-hyung," he breathed out.
"Hi."
"Do you need anything?"
"Yeah, we need to talk."
"About?"
Seokjin ignored him and entered the room. He sat down on the edge Taehyung's bed with folded hands, making Taehyung question the past twenty four hours he was with him. He didn't do anything wrong, did he?
"I don't actually have a present for you."
Taehyung's brain-to-mouth filter decided to stop working at that exact moment.
"What?"
"I know, I'm sorry! I shouldn't have lied and-"
Taehyung smacked himself on the forehead.
"No, no, Jin-hyung, I didn't mean it like that, you can stop rambling now-"
"-I just didn't have time to get you a present, you know, with all the busy schedules and I was afraid you wouldn't like anything I'd get you, so I'm really sorry-"
"Jin-hyung."
"-and I thought I'd have time to buy you a present after ice skating but-"
"Jin-hyung."
"-we were all so tired and-"
"Jin-hyung!"
Seokjin looked up at Taehyung wide-eyed and his mouth agape.
"Sorry" was what he could get out meekly after all the waffling he had just done.
"You should get a part in the next cypher track, you could do it, because I don't think you breathed."
"Shut up," Seokjin laughed.
"Is that all you're here for? To apologise I don't have a present from you? Because I lied, too. I don't have a present for you, either."
"Wow Taehyungie, I'm hurt."
"Is my irresistible charm not a great enough gift for you?" he said as he sent Seokjin a wink.
"Hmmm, I don't know, I'll have to think about it since I am the most handsome."
Taehyung only rolled his eyes and snorted in response.
"But to answer your earlier question, no, I had another thing to say."
"Okay..."
Seokjin took a deep breath in and Taehyung held his breath.
"Taehyung."
He was able to croak out a small "yeah?"
Seokjin's voice dropped to as low as a whisper.
"I think I like you."
Huh?
"..."
His ears were fine, right? He just went to have them checked the other day, they should be fine.
"..."
"Tae, please say something."
"Uhhh."
"Oh my God, I'm an idiot," Seokjin mutters as he fell back onto the mattress, covering his eyes with his hands; but thankfully, Taehyung finally managed to swiftly regain his senses.
"No, no! You aren't!" he blurted out.
"Huh?" Seokjin peeped at Taehyung through his fingers.
This time, it was Taehyung's voice that lowered.
"I- I think I like you too."
"And you said you didn't have a Christmas present for me."
"Stop ruining the moment, hyung!" he yelled, lightly punching Seokjin's shoulder, which made him giggle. He sat up and looked at Taehyung with bright eyes and a shy smile.
Seokjin was being awfully giggly today, and Taehyung wanted to punch him again for being so cute.
"Sorry."
Taehyung joined Seokjin on the bed, and sat beside him, then held his hand.
"I don't know for how long, but it just kind of came to me that I may be a bit in love with you," Taehyung said softly, looking down at their intertwined hands.
Seokjin lifted his chin up with his free hand and beamed at him.
"Well, you're in luck, because I maybe a bit in love with you too."
Seokjin started to shift closer to Taehyung, but because Taehyung is Taehyung, he was famous for blurting out.
"Do you stare at me for long whiles?"
"Tae, I'm literally about to kiss you, you can't just ask-"
"Just answer!"
Seokjin sighed fondly and looked into the younger one's eyes with a sheepish twinkle in his.
"Yes, all the time, now can I-"
However, before Seokjin could even complete his sentence, Taehyung pressed a kiss on Seokjin's nose.
"Merry Christmas, hyung."
Seokjin's doe eyes looked at Taehyung in surprise.
"You're annoying."
"You love it."
Seokjin pulled Taehyung towards him and mumbled against his lips, "I do. Merry Christmas, Tae."
"Merry Christmas, Jin-hyung."
Seokjin finally decided to press their lips together.
