Chapter Text
It was the first day of her new school, and Min Yoonji was a bit… Well, not scared, that’s for sure. She had been through this too often now to become scared on her first day, but she certainly didn’t feel nothing either. It was a hard feeling to describe, and she never had been the type to convey her feelings too much.
Adjusting her backpack, she let out a small sigh. With more effort than there should be, she pulled open the heavy doors. Right now, the halls were empty, as all students were already in their classrooms, waiting for their teachers to enter in.
In her small hand, she looked down at the piece of paper that she held onto, showing the layout of the school. Yoonji was to report to the office in order to gather her schedule and find out who her homeroom teacher would be, as well as other information. However, looking at the map, she began to frown. It was hard to read... Geez, what kind of idiot made this map?
The sound of someone clearing their throat caught her attention, slowly raising her eyes to look up. In front of her was a boy about the same height as her. A lot of his features were soft and he instantly gave off the aura of kindness.
He smiled at her, causing his eyes to become half moons. “You seem a bit confused on something,” he spoke. Gosh, even his voice was gentle sounding. Yoonji wasn’t sure if she wanted to pinch his cheeks or throw up…
“A little,” she finally answered, her voice showing no emotion except for irritation as she once more looked down at the map.
“Where ever it is you’re going, I can get you there. My name is Park Jimin, I’m the class president.”
So, that was the type of person he was. Of course. However, it definitely wasn’t bad, and Yoonji figured the help was better than getting hopelessly lost on her first day. “ I’m Min Yoonji, I’m a transfer student,” she introduced herself finally, looking back up at the boy fully this time.
At hearing she was a transfer student, Jimin seemed to brighten up and smile even wider. “Ah! I’ve heard a lot about you,” his face turned a noticeable shade of pink, rubbing the back of his head, messing up his blonde hair a little. “I’ll show you to the office,” he said before he started walking in front of her.
Yoonji followed a few steps behind, putting away the map after she figured it was completely useless now. She felt relieved and thankful that this boy was so willing to help, it was no wonder that he was class president. Most of the time they are that way.
Their walk was silent, but it also was a short one. “Here we are,” Jimin said once they reached the door and held it open for her. After Yoonji walked inside, he followed quickly after and shut the door. “I’ll take you to your homeroom, so wait for me, okay?”
She didn’t know what to do. Part of her wanted to tell him that she could take care of it, but the other half knew she wouldn’t get anywhere on her own. Finally, she let out a sigh and nodded. This caused Jimin to smile happily, and Yoonji was glad that she didn’t break his heart.
Jimin disappeared just as Yoonji heard another voice speak to her and brought her into another, smaller room. It was there that she was given her schedule and given other additional information that she paid no attention to, absentmindedly nodding along. She had heard this over and over again in different forms, but it all was basically the same thing.
Luckily, in no time she was allowed to leave and let out a small sigh of relief, flipping her short, black hair back a little. Jimin was already waiting for her, leaning against the wall by the door. Looking up and seeing her, he again smiled. Man, was it possible to smile that much?
“Can I see your schedule?” he asked politely, holding out his hand. They looked so small. Yoonji was surprised. How can anyone have such tiny hands? Even her own hands were larger than his! Silently, Yoonji handed over the piece of paper, keeping silence in case she accidentally let out something about his hands.
Jimin studied the paper closely, before he lit up, handing it back to her. “Looks like we have the same homeroom, so we can walk there together,” he said cheerfully.
“Lead the way,” Yoonji said as she took back the paper, folding it and keeping it in her hand this time, figuring she’ll look at it more closely later. Just like before, Jimin held the door open for her and once more took the lead.
This time, he apparently didn’t want the walk to be completely silent, after a while he finally spoke up, looking behind at her as he did so. “From your file, I saw that you were older than me, so I guess that means you’re my noona,” he said with a shy smile.
No wonder this kid seemed so pure, he was younger than her, but she didn’t know by how much, and she really didn’t care either. As long as he showed respect to her there wouldn’t be an issue. Normally, small talk wasn’t something she was good at, but Yoonji did her best to give him a small smile in acknowledgement. “I’ll do my best then.”
This response seemed to have made Jimin happy, as a light blush appeared on his face once more, turning away. Just like before, the walk was short, which Yoonji was grateful for. She never was energetic and didn’t like moving around too much.
“Stay here,” Jimin said to her, a hand on the door. “I’ll let you know when to come in and introduce yourself.” Yoonji gave a shrug and nodded, already so used to this sort of thing. Without another word, Jimin disappeared into the classroom. Yoonji was able to hear some shuffling and muffled voices, but nothing she could distinctly make out.
Doing as told, she stood outside the classroom, for how long she wasn’t sure, but it didn’t take long before she heard the click of the door and looked over. Jimin appeared, smiling as he waved her in.
“Class, give a warm welcome to our new transfer student,” she was able to hear the teacher speak to the class, and as she walked in she was able to hear gasps and murmurs of conversations. Yoonji stood before them, flipping back her hair in a swift motion before putting her hands behind her back.
“Hello, my name is Min Yoonji. It’s a pleasure to be here,” she said, having gotten so used to the words leaving her mouth. Jimin was standing in the space between her and the teacher, looking at her with a wide smile. There was a loud yell from someone in the back of the class, which Yoonji ignored.
The teacher turned their attention to Yoonji, speaking to her. “Take a seat over there, behind Jeon Jungkook. Jimin, be sure to help her out if she needs it.” Jimin nodded enthusiastically.
Yoonji looked over to the seat she was instructed to sit in, which was behind a boy who looked like he had much better things to do than be here. Didn’t everyone? With long strides, she made her way over to the desk and sat down.
She watched as Jimin looked over at her, giving her a quick smile before sitting down in his seat, which was in the front row. This wasn’t so bad so far…
