The Prydonian, a Doctor Who fanfiction archive, and its subsite Human Nature, a Doctor Who RPF fanfiction archive, are being imported to the Archive of Our Own (AO3).

In this post:

Background explanation

The Prydonian, a Doctor Who Fanfiction archive for fanworks focusing on the relationship between the Doctor and the Master, was created by Versaphile in 2008. A Doctor Who RPF subsite, Human Nature, was added in 2009.

Open Doors will be working with Versaphile to import The Prydonian and Human Nature into two separate, searchable collections with their own identities. Eventually the links going to the old site will re-direct to the collections on AO3 so the works can continue to be found with their old URLs. We will begin importing works from The Prydonian and Human Nature to the AO3 collection in January 2016.

What does this mean for creators who have work on The Prydonian and/or Human Nature?

This is the part where we ask for your help!

1. If you already have an AO3 account and have posted your The Prydonian and/or Human Nature works there, please contact Open Doors with your The Prydonian and/or Human Nature pseud(s) and e-mail address(es), so that we won’t import your works. (Please include "The Prydonian" and/or "Human Nature" in the subject heading.) For instructions on mass-adding works to the new The Prydonian collection or the new Human Nature collection please see the Open Doors website.

2. If you don’t already have an AO3 account but would like one to import your works yourself, please contact Open Doors with your The Prydonian and/or Human Nature pseud(s), and the preferred e-mail address to send the AO3 invite to. (Please include "The Prydonian" and/or "Human Nature" in the subject heading.) For instructions on importing works and adding them to the new The Prydonian collection or the new Human Nature collection, please see the Open Doors website.

3. If you don’t already have an AO3 account but would like one, as well as assistance importing your works, please contact Open Doors with your The Prydonian and/or Human Nature pseud(s), and the preferred e-mail address to send the AO3 invite to. (Please include "The Prydonian" and/or "Human Nature" in the subject heading.) Once your account is set up, let us know your AO3 name, and we can transfer your works to you once imported.

4. If you would NOT like your works moved, please contact Open Doors with your The Prydonian and/or Human Nature pseud(s) and e-mail address(es) so that we will not add them. (Please include "The Prydonian" and/or "Human Nature" in the subject heading.)

If you would not mind your works being preserved but do not want your name attached to them any longer, please let us know that too--we can orphan your works instead of leaving them behind to be deleted.

All works archived on a creator’s behalf will be attributed with the creator’s name in the byline or the summary of the work. As we import works, we will e-mail notifications to the address associated with the work. When all works have been accounted for, the Open Doors committee will set up the URL redirects, and we will permanently close down the site.

All imported works will be set to be viewable only by logged-in AO3 users. Once you claim your works, you can make them publicly-viewable if you choose. After 30 days, all unclaimed imported works will be made visible to all visitors.

If you no longer have access to the email account associated with your The Prydonian and/or Human Nature account, please contact Open Doors and we'll help you out. (If you've posted the works elsewhere, or have an easy way to verify that they're yours, that's fantastic; if not, we will work with Versaphile to confirm your claims.)

If you still have questions...

We'd also love it if fans could help us preserve the story of The Prydonian and Human Nature on Fanlore. If you're new to wiki editing, no worries! Check out the new visitor portal, or ask the Fanlore Gardeners for tips.

We're excited to be able to help preserve both The Prydonian and Human Nature!

The Wolf and Hound, a Sirius Black/Remus Lupin pairing-centric archive, is being imported to the Archive of Our Own (AO3).

In this post:

Background explanation

The archive was originally created in 2003 to make works posted to the Sirius_Black_and_Remus_Lupin Yahoo! mailing list easier to find, and the mods have been proud to host the many amazing stories that the list has woven over the years: around 800 works by over 200 creators.

Although the current mod, Lassenia, still loves the fandom, they are no longer active in it and unfortunately do not have time to maintain the archive. To ensure The Wolf and Hound Archive's works are not lost, Lassenia will be working with Open Doors to import the archive into a separate, searchable collection with its own identity. Eventually the links going to the old site will re-direct to the collection on AO3 so that the works can continued to be found with their old URLs. We will begin importing works from The Wolf and Hound Archive to the AO3 collection in December.

What does this mean for creators who have work on The Wolf and Hound Archive?

3. If you don’t already have an AO3 account but would like one or assistance in importing your works, please contact Open Doors with your The Wolf and Hound Archive pseud(s), and the preferred e-mail address to send the AO3 invite to. (Please include "Wolf and Hound" in the subject heading.) Once your account is set up, let us know your AO3 name, and we can transfer your works to you once imported.

4. If you would NOT like your works moved, please contact Open Doors with your The Wolf and Hound Archive pseud(s) and e-mail address(es) so that we will not add them. As we import works, we will e-mail notifications to the address associated with the work. All imported works will be set to be viewable only by logged-in AO3 users. Once you claim your works, you can make them publicly-viewable if you choose. After 30 days, all unclaimed imported works will be made visible to all visitors.

In this post:

Background explanation

The Seamus/Dean Forever Archive was a Harry Potter archive which was active from approximately 2002-2005. It held fanfiction and fanart focussing on the relationship between Seamus Finnigan and Dean Thomas.

Open Doors will be working with Miss Cora, the moderator, to import Seamus/Dean Forever into a separate, searchable collection on the Archive of Our Own. As part of preserving the archive in its entirety, both its fanfiction and fanart will be hosted on the OTW's servers, and embedded in their own AO3 work pages.

What does this mean for creators who had work on Seamus/Dean Forever?

This is the part where we ask for your help!

3. If you don’t already have an AO3 account but would like one to import your works yourself, please contact Open Doors with your Seamus/Dean Forever pseud(s), and the preferred e-mail address to send the AO3 invite to. (Please include "Seamus/Dean Forever" in the subject heading.) For instructions on importing works and adding them to the Seamus/Dean Forever collection, please see the Open Doors website.

The Hermit Library, a Blake’s 7 fanfiction archive, is being imported to the Archive of Our Own (AO3). In this post:

Background explanation

The Hermit Library is a Blake's 7 fanfiction and fan art archive hosted at the Hermit.org site. Founded and run by printzine publisher and author Judith Proctor in 2000, it was among the earliest multi-author archives in the fandom, and was for some years the largest online B7 archive. It includes many stories and novels which first appeared in zines, particularly those published or agented by Judith.

During an outage of Hermit.org in 2014, a fan by the name of Aralias contacted Judith to find out whether the site was gone forever or could be resurrected. Although the site did return, Aralias was anxious to ensure the fics hosted on Hermit would never be lost again, and asked if they could be imported onto AO3, where they would be safe (and searchable by pairing at last!). Judith agreed. She was also keen to move the rest of the Hermit.org content (including zine reviews, the Sevenclopia and Gareth Thomas’s complete career history) onto either Fanlore or another archive and then close the site.

Open Doors will be working with Judith Proctor and Aralias to import the Hermit Library into a separate, searchable collection with its own identity. Eventually the links going to the old site will re-direct to the collection on AO3 so the works can continue to be found with their old URLs. We will begin importing works from the Hermit Library to the AO3 collection in July.

What does this mean for creators who have work on the Hermit Library?

This is the part where we ask for your help!

1. If you already have an AO3 account and have posted your Hermit Library works there, please contact the moderators (hermitlibrary.archivist [at] gmail.com) with your Hermit Library pseud(s) and e-mail address(es), so that we won’t import your works. For instructions on mass-adding works to the new collection on the AO3, Hermit Library, please see the Open Doors website.

2. If you don’t already have an AO3 account but would like one to import your works yourself, please contact the moderators (hermitlibrary.archivist [at] gmail.com) with your Hermit Library pseud(s), and the preferred e-mail address to send the AO3 invite to. For instructions on importing works and adding them to the Hermit Library collection, please see the Open Doors website.

3. If you don’t already have an AO3 account but would like one, as well as assistance importing your works, please contact the moderators (hermitlibrary.archivist [at] gmail.com) with your Hermit Library pseud(s), and the preferred e-mail address to send the AO3 invite to. 4. If you would NOT like your works moved, please contact the moderators (hermitlibrary.archivist [at] gmail.com) with your Hermit Library pseud(s) and e-mail address(es) so that we will not add them.

If you would not mind your works being preserved but do not want your name attached to them any longer, please let us know that too--we can orphan your works instead of leaving them behind to be deleted.

All works archived on a creator’s behalf will be attributed with the creator’s name in the summary of the work. As we import works, we will e-mail notifications to the address associated with the work. When all works have been accounted for, the Open Doors committee will set up the URL redirects, and and the original Library will be permanently closed.

All imported works will be set to be viewable only by logged-in AO3 users. Once you claim your works, you can make them publicly-viewable if you choose. After 30 days, all unclaimed imported works will be made visible to all visitors.

If you no longer have access to the email account associated with your Hermit Library account, please contact the moderators (hermitlibrary.archivist [at] gmail.com) for assistance in verifying your identity. The OTW's Content Policy workgroup is responsible for drafting and updating language for our Terms of Service and other policies involving our projects.

Recently Content Policy has been working with the policy for our Open Doors project. The proposed changes reflect several years of experience with the Open Doors process, and are intended to make our policies simpler and easier for collection owners and Archive administrators to apply. They do not affect individual users.

Per OTW policy, today begins a 2 week comment period from users. The proposed changes are available for viewing in HTML, PDF and Word document formats.

Please leave comments or questions about the changes here. Once feedback has been gathered, Content Policy will use it to make further changes. They'll then seek Board approval for the new policy and make it public as part of the AO3 Terms of Service.

Banner of two men and a woman in an embrace with the title 'Table for Three a Triofic Archive'

The Archive of Our Own (AO3) welcomes Table for Three, a Harry Potter archive dedicated to the Harry/Ron/Hermione ship!

In this post:

Background explanation

Table for Three was founded as the definitive archive dedicated to the Harry Potter Trio Ship, featuring stories in which Harry, Hermione and Ron are involved with each other romantically. (This may be best summed up by a note on the homepage: If you're looking for the three primary characters of “Harry Potter” in a great writhing puppy pile, you've got to the right place.)

In recent years, traffic and submissions to the archive have dwindled to near-non existence, and it’s become difficult for the mod to justify the considerable expense of keeping the archive open. To prevent these works from being lost, he contacted Open Doors to give them a new home on the Archive of Our Own.

Open Doors will be working with Jonathan Andrew Sheen, the archive mod, to import Table for Three into a separate, searchable collection with its own identity. Eventually the links going to the old site will re-direct to the collection on AO3 so the works can continue to be found with their old URLs. We will begin importing works from Table for Three to the AO3 collection in March 2015.

What does this mean for creators who have work on Table for Three?

This is the part where we ask for your help!

1. If you already have an AO3 account and have posted your Table for Three works there, please contact Open Doors with your Table for Three pseud(s) and e-mail address(es), so that we won’t import your works. (For instructions on mass-adding works to the new collection on the AO3, Table for Three, please see the Open Doors website.)

2. If you don’t have an AO3 account but would like one to import your works yourself, please contact Open Doors with your Table for Three pseud(s), and the preferred e-mail address to send the AO3 invite to. (For instructions on importing works and adding them to the Table for Three collection, please see the Open Doors website.)

3. If you don’t already have an AO3 account but would like one, as well as assistance importing your works, please contact Open Doors with your Table for Three pseud(s), and the preferred e-mail address to send the AO3 invite to. (Once your account is set up, let us know your AO3 name, and we can transfer your works to you.)

4. If you would NOT like your works moved, please contact Open Doors with your Table for Three pseud(s) and e-mail address(es) so that we will not add them. (If you would not mind them being preserved but do not want your name attached to them any longer, please let us know that too--we can orphan your works instead of leaving them behind to be deleted.)

All works archived on a creator’s behalf will be attributed with the creator’s name in the byline of the work.

If you no longer have access to the email account associated with your Table for Three account, please contact Open Doors and we'll help you out. (If you've posted the works elsewhere, or have an easy way to verify that they're yours, that's fantastic; if not, we will work with the Table for Three mod to confirm your claims.)

If you still have questions...

If you have further questions, visit the Open Doors FAQ page, contact the Open Doors committee, or leave a comment on this post and we'll respond as soon as we can.

We'd also love it if fans could help us preserve the story of Table for Three on Fanlore. If you're new to wiki editing, no worries! Check out the new visitor portal, or ask the Fanlore Gardeners for tips.

We're excited to be able to help preserve Table for Three!
