"I regret whatever I did last night."
That was the first thought that Shadow had when he woke up and felt like the weight of the world was currently beating him down. His head was pounding with such force he wasn't sure if he could even open his eyes. Once he was able to, the hybrid gazed around the room that he was currently in. Everything seemed to be new and smelled of pine.
"Where am I?"
Shadow pushed himself up from the bed and groggily looked around. The room gave off almost cabin vibes. Unsure on where he was, the hybrid decided the best course of action was to get up and survey his new surroundings. His body felt heavy as he got his feet underneath him, looking around to see if he could spot his shoes. As he opened the door, Shadow bumped into something soft and fell backwards with a soft 'oof'.
"I was just coming to see if you were alive yet," Sonic said, helping Shadow back onto his feet.
"Yeah, head really hurts," he told him still looking about the place, "Where are we?"
"Oh this?" Sonic answered, "This is the cottage. I'll explain everything during breakfast. It's eggs...because that's all we got right now. Oh and Rouge gave me some pills for your head."
"Eggs are fine," Shadow told him, "You're also going to have to fill me on what happened last night."

Breakfast was had and Sonic couldn't stop from blushing as Shadow praised him for making the best scrambled eggs.
"So about last night..." Shadow asked, passing a plate for Sonic to dry.
"Oh yeah," Sonic said, "So I finished packing for the big move in when Rouge called us to come over to her place."
"Her place...we never went to her place. We had a mission to check out one of the Doctor's bases and then the Doctor..."
The moment that he mentioned about the doctor, the flood gates opened.
"The Doctor knows about us," Shadow told Sonic urgently, "We broke protocol and went back to Rouge's where I got in...to...her..." He slapped his hand to his face, slightly regretting it when his head pinged with more pain.
"How much did I drink?"
"When the three of us got there Rouge said you'd downed two bottles. When we entered you proclaimed to have found your best friend Jose."
"Not the tequila," Shadow groaned.
"Oh Rouge took that away before you could drink it. You then told Rouge that I shouldn't have been there because I would think you were an indecent person, which I didn't. Then you told me about Eggman and Rouge convinced you to take some pills so wouldn't be sicker today with 'vodka'. It wasn't vodka, it was totally water."
"Which explains why I'm more mobile than I should be," Shadow pondered, "But it doesn't explain where we are and how we got here..."
"This," Sonic sighed heavily, "is the cottage. It's been in my family for years, but since everything with Eggman started, I'm probably the only one left to know about it. I used it as a home for Tails and I when he was young, but we got onto the mainland and I never looked back."
"So...where is the cottage located," Shadow asked as he pulled the plug to drain out the sink. Sonic laughed nervously.
"On an island in the middle of a lake."
"What?! Sonic you can barely handle a shower!"
"Now you're sounding like Tails!" Sonic scoffed. He grabbed Shadow's shoulders and stared into rubies eyes, "I would have never have chosen the cottage if I didn't think I couldn't handle it. It's also one of the rare locations Eggman doesn't know about. I also have you here with me, so please trust me on this one Shadow." He could hear the other's defeated sigh and felt his hand lift his chin into a kiss.
"I trust you," Shadow told him as the parted which had Sonic sighing in relief.
"T hanks Shads."
"Now how did we get here?"
"Oh that was easy," Sonic laughed, "I took the Emerald from you last night and Chaos Controlled us here! "
"You used Chaos Control," Shadow said, his mouth agape causing Sonic to laugh harder.
"I know right?!"

"Where have you been?!"
"Well hello to you too Topaz," Rouge said dryly to the woman in front of her. Steel blue eyes seemed to stare daggers into the bat.
"One hour! You told me you two would be back in one hour Rouge! Towers is having a fit! And where is Agent Shadow?!"
"Chill out. I'll give you details on what happened," Rouge told her as she cleared her throat.
"After we got off the call with you, one of the computer screens came alive and Eggman's voice rang through the room. He threatened Shadow's partner's safety. Shadow went on a downward spiral and I decided to break protocol. We headed back to my place where we contacted his partner, in which they are now safe in an undisclosed area. There, ya happy. You're caught up."
"Shadow's partner...I thought you were his partner?" Topaz questioned.
"Well yeah I'm his work part---wait, do you all think that we're dating?"
"Well...kind of..."
"That would be like dating my brother!" Rouge shrieked, "So wrong on so many levels."
"Well who is his partner then?" Topaz questioned.
"The Hero of Mobius," Rouge mused as she watched Topaz's facial features go from wonder to shock.
"How in the hell did he get Sonic the Hedgehog?"

"...we couldn't get the taste of burnt cookies off of our tongues for weeks," Shadow concluded with a sigh, "The Professor was so mad, but in typical Maria fashion, we got away with it."
"She sounded like quite the handful," Sonic laughed, looking up at the Ultimate Lifeform who was deep in thought of memories of old as they laid on the couch together. Peach hands draped round the other's shoulders, head on his chest.
"She really was. I can't imagine what antics she got into before I was there," he told Sonic, letting his bare hands running along the side of the cobalt coat of his lover.
It was then when finally felt one.
Shadow paused at what he had just felt under his hand. He put his thumb over the spot in question and rubbed it ever so gently causing the hero to suck in air.
"T hat one I think was from a Motobug," Sonic mumbled out as he exhaled, "I don't remember what happened, but yeah. My body's full of scars."
Shadow tenderly traced his finger around the hero's body, feeling the scars one by one until he came up to the left side of his chest where he found one that was deeper than the rest.
"Yeah...that one wasn't fun," Sonic admitted, "The Erazor Djinn shot me with an fire arrow of sorts that was kinda like a fuse and I was on fire and if the fire went out I would die so I had to go around the Arabian Nights stories finding these World Rings in order to get the arrow out of me so ya know I didn't die with my genie friend Shahra." He looked up to see Shadow's face completely confused.
"There were dinosaurs in one of them!"
"What?! No!!" Shadow protested.
"Hold on it gets better! So we get all these World Rings right, and plot twist: Shahra hands the rings over to The Erazor Djinn!!! She and him had a thing a long time ago I guess and he was making her work for him? Anyways, I had a magic ring because she was the genie of the ring and I wished for her to do what felt right to her and because I collected all these magical rings, I was deemed as sacrifice. SO The Erazor Djinn was going to kill me to become all godly like and ruin all the stories of the Arabian Nights or something, but Shahra sacrificed herself for me! Big fight happens. I win. Shahra is back alive and feels bad for backstabbing me, I use my last wish to give her some tissues and to live her life and BOOM I'm outta there!"
"Alright," Shadow said rubbing his temples, "Two things are going to happen here. One: You're learning to swim."
"What? No! I--" Sonic started but was quickly over talked by the hybrid.
"Two: No more of these ridiculous stories!"
"If I stop telling weird stories, I don't have to learn how to swim right?" Sonic asked. Shadow laughed at his desperate plea and kissed the top of the blue one's head.
"Not happening," he told him causing the hero to pout.
