Extenuating Circumstance Chapter 2
"Did it hurt when your wings came in?" Tommy asks as he sits down next to Purpled, loudly enough the latter would have worried about being overheard if they weren't sat at the back corner of the cafeteria.
In any movie, apart from maybe a superhero one, they are the extras.
"Yeah they did, like, a lot," Purpled answers through the mouthful of the cookie he had just bitten into.
Tommy winces slightly at that and Purpled almost asks why the sudden interest before Ranboo and Tubbo are joining them at their table.
"We're getting married," Tubbo announces.
"Cool," Purpled answers almost emotionlessly when a month ago that sentence alone would have given him a headache.
Unsurprisingly it is Tommy who kicks up at this.
"What the fuck?!" He yells. "Why are you getting married to the tall bastard?"
"Tommy, compared to me all of you guys are tall bastards," Tubbo deadpans.
To which Purpled responds quickly, "just grow?" Only to be met with one of Tubbos death glares. He doesn't need to worry for his life though, because it is clearly one of the playful ones, the actually scary ones are usually reserved for Tommy specifically.
"We're getting married-" Ranboo interrupts before the conversation can get even more off track, "- so that if my brothers deal with Nightmare falls through I won't have to move back to AE."
"Oh, you used to live in AE?" Purpled asks.
Another of his friends' weird quirks are their fucked up family dynamics. Tubbo refuses to talk about his family, Ranboos brother gets kidnapped a lot and is fake dating a superhero (he's not supposed to know that part but Ranboo tends to overshare a lot) and Tommy is surprisingly the most normal of them all, him and his sibling all being adopted by a loving father.
"Mhm," Ranboo hums, "my brother managed to convince my dad to let me move here with him, bet he's regretting that now."
"I want to be a flower girl at your wedding," Tommy announced suddenly, the weird yet somehow so normal, for them, conversation switching to the details of their wedding though despite their high energy, their conversation began to lull slightly.
It was then Purpled remembered what Tommy had said to him before this entire conversation. "So why the sudden interest in my wings?" He asks.
Tommy startles, body language stiff and uncomfortable. "Apparently my biological dad had wings and I'm at the age they might start coming in," Tommy answers hesitantly.
"Pog," Ranboo says and continues drinking his caprisun.
"Do you know what kinda wings he had?" Tubbo asks, left hand moving to press at his head, something Purpled's noticed he's been doing a lot recently, both his dad and brother have horns and Tubbo's been hoping to get his soon too.
Tommy shrugs. "Feathery ones." He answers.
"Not nearly as cool as mine," Purpled says smugly.
"Well excuse me, not everyone can breath fucking fire! Fucking scaley."
"But have you tried? Also that is so rude, I might just tell Sam about that," Purpled threatens.
Tommy's answering dirty look makes Purpled crack up.
"So does this mean I'll be the only one without a hybrid mutation?" Ranboo asks.
"Well I'm the only one who's not adopted so we can be outliers together," Tubbo answers, grabbing Ranboos hand.
Purpled and Tommy look at each other.
"Cringe," they said simultaneously.
They all go back to eating, a rare silence between them before Purpled can't stand the quiet anymore and asks. "So what's our new plan?"
"What do you mean?" Tubbo asks.
"Well our last plan kinda went to shit so…" Purples trailed off looking between his frie- acquaintances, all

Purpled figures out Tubbo is Schlatts son because they go to a safe house after the bank heist and then Tubbo has to tell Ranboo he knew about Dream being nightmare
Punz is purpleds brother and is working for a new supervillain on the rise called The Crimson and he has Punz, Bad, Skeppy, Sam (a retired hero but no one knows that) under his control because his whole power is like manipulation n stuff and Tommy and Purpled realise their parents r acting weird, decide to investigate it and stumble across what I will call a cult meeting because… have you see those eggpire guys? Anyway, they call a meeting, meet up at Techno's house because he's the only person who knows about them and they all try and figure out what to do before the "Red Banquet" because that sounds fucking ominous. Awhile layer Tommy and Purpled are out patrolling and one of The Crimsons henchmen takes Hannah hostage so they go to rescue her but she's badass and defends herself but somehow they realise blue fire is the Crimsons weakness so with this information the try and decided if they should bring this up with Nightmare, cue the huge reveal (to some people (tommy)) that Tubbo is rich and nightmare is his brother but anyway nightmare gets an anonymous type that the up and coming vigilantes techno sacrificed himself to save want to meet with him and Dream had no clue about the crimson stuff so goes to investigate himself (like an idiot) and gets kidnapped and when techno hears about it he fuckin flips and bring tommy and puroled with hum to rescue him (oh how the tables turn tabled… that's how that goes. Yeah.) Along the way they run think Blaze and 404 doing the same thing and 404 and Tommy look at eachother and just kinda [Spiderman pointing meme]
And once they finally rescue dream they all have a sit down and talk and work together to stop The Crimson and save everyone :)
