The Marauders’ dorm, 5:00pm
Regulus has been avoiding James since they’re last interaction and he decides that enough is enough. It’s going to have to be planned and it might take a while, but Regulus Black will become his friend, even if it takes the rest of his life.
“Moony, I have an idea for a prank!” Sirius exclaimed.
“I swear if you suggest we kill Ms. Norris again-”
“No, it’s even more brilliant!” Sirius cuts him off. “We put hair dye in the Slytherin’s quidditch change room showers!”
“That’s really dumb Sirius,” James starts. “I’m in!”

Corridor, 4:22pm
“Okay, so I created this spell so there’s no counter-curse.”
“Good, let’s do it.”
“ACHOO!” Sirius sneezes loudly. The rest of the Marauders look at him warily. “Sorry.” He whispers.
“Who’s in here?” Filch’s voice startles all 4 of the Marauders.
“Shit!” Peter whispered.
“Pete, take the cloak, the rest of us will split up.”
As Filch was turning a corner, he turned the other so as to not get caught.
“GO!”
James didn’t have to run for long before finding Regulus of all people.
“REGULUS! REGULUS!” James Potter yells.
“What do you want?” Regulus turns around looking annoyed.
“I NEED YOUR HELP TO HIDE.” James whisper-yells, breathing heavily.
“DON’T YOU LITERALLY HAVE AN INVISIBILITY CLOAK?” Regulus whisper-yells back.
“PETE HAS IT.” James says frantically.
“WELL THEN WHAT CAN I DO?”
“I DON’T KNOW? HELP ME HIDE?”
“WELL-” Regulus looks around. “WE CAN HIDE IN THERE.” He points to a broom closet.
“OKAY.” James responds gratefully.
They enter the room quickly.
“What happened Potter?”
“Prank gone wrong.”
“Great, what went wrong?”
“Filch almost caught us.”
“What was the prank?”
“Oh yeah, we tried to put magical hair-dye in the showers of the Slytherin changerooms.”
“How’d you almost get caught?”
“Sirius sneezed.”
“You’re joking.”
“Me?” James says dramatically. “Never.”
“Shut up Potter.” Regulus said with a hint of a smile.
“So mean for someone so small.” James teases.
“So bright for someone so big.” He retorts. He’s really funny.
“Ah, you wound me Reggie.” He says, pretending to be stabbed.
“Well, since you, and everyone around you apparently, sees you as the centre of the universe, someone must tell you otherwise.”
“That someone being you?” James is smiling wildly now.
“It appears so doesn’t it?”
“Well I wouldn’t mind, as long as it means you’re not ignoring me for the rest of our time at Hogwarts.”
“Fine.”
“Awesome!”
Regulus promptly rolls his eyes and leaves.
