Chapter Text
Minutes later, they were all sitting in the police station, medics having decided that Izuku had only been drugged with a mild sedative.
The police had originally attempted to question them all in separate rooms, but Mari and Tim had caused far too much chaos and had said they wouldn’t stop unless they were all put together. Izuku blushed in embarrassment the whole time, apologizing for his friends.
Finally, they all sat in a conference room. The various teachers sat in front of them waiting for Tsukauchi while the kids messed with random stuff in their pockets (Tim and Izuku) or did increasingly elaborate attacks with the staff. (Mari)
Eraserhead sighed into his coffee mug from his sleeping bag. Beside him stood Present Mic, watching open mouthed at Mari’s performance. Midnight also watched, clapping any time she felt was appropriate. Ectoplasm stood guard at the two doors, clones watching the inside and outside of them while also having three extras.
All Might walked into the room in his puffed out form. ”My boy! I am here! I apologize for not being there in time!”
And suddenly a flash of silver flew out at All Might.
“Argh..!” All Might choked as Mari’s staff hit him in the stomach, causing a coughing fit.
“Mari!” “Yeah!” (Izuku and Tim, respectively)
“You!” Mari shouted at him, pointing at his face. She stalked up closer until she was right in front of him.
Somehow, she was staring him down even though she was half his height and size.
“Young Miss! What did I do?” All Might asked, incredibly confused and hesitant.
She hissed. Her staff appeared back in her hands and she pointed it at his throat. “Quikless can’t be heroes?”She said mockingly.
All Might’s eyes widened and he paled. “H-how did you hear about that?”
“Mari, it isn’t his fau-” Izuku tried to say, but Mari interrupted him, eyes blazing.
“How did I hear about that? How did I hear about that?!” She took a deep breath in, and let it out slowly.
The other teachers eyed her warily. When she first threw the staff, they had all jumped up to stop her, but she had dodged them. They stopped when they realized she wasn’t hurting him, but were also curious what caused such venom towards the Number 1 Hero.
Izuku groaned, covering his bright red face in embarrassment. Tim just laughed darkly and reached over to pull Izuku into a hug.
All Might’s eyes flickered around the room.
“Nuh uh! Eyes on me Mister, I’m talking to you!” Mari said loudly, poking All Might between the eyes.
When his eyes returned to hers, she continued speaking. “I have known these two for years! We taught him how to fight! And you, the ‘Number One’ hero decided to make the dumbest decision of your life by telling a fan, a CHILD, that they were weak because they don’t have a quirk.” She was seething.
While Midnight and Mic gaped at her words, Eraserhead only shook his head and glowered. He had heard parts already (the confirmation that they taught Izuku was nice) but it didn’t make him feel any better.
All Might audibly gulped. “I-I didn’t realize!” He said, ashamed. As he should be.
Izuku groaned. “Mariiiiiiii whyyyyyyyy leave my teachers alooooone…” He whined, still hiding his face.
Tim snorted. “Let her have her fun Zu, we’ve been wanting this for years. Why don’t you introduce me to your other teachers? We’ve heard so much about them.” He gave the wide-eyed teachers a smirk.
Izuku pouted. “No. I’m tired. You go talk to them yourself.” And promptly fell asleep.
Tim turned to the teachers and smiled. “Hi! I’m Tim. Me and Mari over there started training Izuku martial arts when he was 14. We’ve been friends for two years now.”
Aizawa raised his eyebrow. “How come we haven’t ever heard of you or seen you?”
Tim laughed. “Oh man, I bet you’ve heard of us and didn’t realize it. Did he ever talk about whoever taught him to use the bo staff? That was me.”
Aizawa froze and looked him over slowly. “You… You are the one who taught him the staff?” His tone was neutral and his face was cautiously blank.
Hizashi jumped and stared wide–eyed at Tim. “But you said that it was a crotchety old man that trained him!” Hizashi yelped.
Tim burst out laughing. Mari stopped her lecturing to look at him before he waved her off. “You-you thought I was an old man?!” Tim wheezed out.
“The way he spoke about his teachers led us to assume that they were retired pros.” Aizawa said, barely a hint of defensiveness in his tone.
“Oh, I’m not retired.” Tim said with another laugh. He could maaaaybe see how they would have assumed that, however.
Nemuri finally spoke. “You are a pro hero? But you are so young!” She cried out.
Tim raised his eyebrow at that. “Hey, I’ve been protecting my area since I was 13. Gimme some credit here!”
Hizashi stared at him. Actually, they were all staring at him. Huh, maybe he should have kept Zuku awake to help explain. But, to be honest, this was pretty fun.
Aizawa spoke up, voice low. “Who made you the protector? Who made a child be the one to protect things?”
Tim winced slightly. “I made myself the protector. My mentor was killing himself in grief, so I came to keep him from doing that. I did that by making myself the protector. The… hero.” He finished with a sardonic grin.
Nemuri spoke up, watching him carefully. “Where are you from? What ‘area’ were you protecting? I have never heard of a hero like you.”
Hizashi piped up. “Your costume is similar in style to Midoriya’s, and you say you’ve known him for years, but how come we have never seen or heard of you before?”
Tim shook his head, still with a smirk. “Nope, we’re waiting for the good Truth Detector before answering those questions. Any others?” And then he jumped up and interrupted before they could even respond. “Wait! I’ve been wanting to do this forever, but Eraserhead, do you want to spar?” Tim said with an excited glint in his eye.
Aizawa felt apprehension rise up, but responded anyway. “What about your friend?" He gestured to Mari, who had seemed to find a white board and was using markers to draw out some kind of presentation.
Tim laughed. "She's fine. Probably going to be a little embarrassed later, but she has been wanting to lecture him for years."
They watched as she used her staff as a pointer as All Might sat in a seat (did she tie him???) following along intently.
Aizawa winced sympathetically at the sight. "Sure. Ground rules are, stay in the room and no unnecessary property destruction." Then he gestured for them to go through a door on the side of the room.
Tim raised his eyebrows and glanced at him quizzically.
Aizawa snorted. "It's a sparring room. The police have a few around for when the heroes need a break." Usually after a bad mission, but he didn't say that part.
Tim nodded, cheerfully smiling as he walked through the door and into the small sparring room. It was still a pretty large room, just not the kind of room you'd want to use an especially destructive quirk in.
Hizashi yelped as Nemuri grabbed his arm and tried to pull him after the two. "Come on! I have GOT to see this!" She said excitedly.
Hizashi agreed, if the longing look he shot the door was any indication. But he shook his head after a particularly loud thump came from where the cat girl and All Might were. "Tell me about it after, I'm gonna supervise this end." He said, gesturing to the two.
Nemuri nodded with a smirk. "Alright." She ran off after Aizawa and the other hero(?), who just watched her cackle.
