It's been a month since Xiao Zhan got to know who was Wang Yibo, a month since he comes to accept that the dog he brought home was actually not a dog at all. It's been a month since he and Yibo become officially together. A lot may question him for choosing to be with someone who he didn't even fully know, for loving someone as dangerous as Yibo, for choosing a life with a person who isn't human at all, and for all honesty, Xiao Zhan can't explain why either, neither himself know why choosing to be with Yibo was as easy as breathing despite their differences.
But loving someone who you know for years still got you questioning why you even love that person in the first place, right? Even if you know that person for a decade there are still some instances where you wonder why you choose to stay with that person, isn't it right? So loving and choosing to stay with that person doesn't have to do with how long you two know each other, or how deep you know each other, because at the end of the day what matters is your feelings towards one another.
Xiao Zhan might have only known Yibo for a month, but even so, he feels like he has known Yibo for a long period. They may have a lot of differences and a person's attitude and mood aren't always the same each day, Xiao Zhan knows there are still a lot of sides of Wang Yibo he's yet to discover, but the thoughts of knowing Yibo and discovering his lover, either it is bad or good never fazes him, he would embrace it because he chooses to be with him.
But ever since the first day of their meeting Yibo didn’t hide his scary and intimidating sides to him, instead, he shows it like it was who he truly is, Yibo in his wolf form was still Yibo, and in those times Yibo was in his wolf form, he didn't once show Xiao Zhan of fake attitude or personality for Xiao Zhan to like, what he shows to Xiao Zhan was the complete opposite to it. He shows Xiao Zhan different sides of him in his wolf form, his annoying sides, his playfulness, his short patience, his competitiveness, his bad temper, and his domineering side, he shows him all of those sides of Yibo without hesitant, Yibo shows them all of those as if trying to test him.
Ever since then Yibo gives him a choice, he remembers Yibo asking him if he was willing to stay with him for the rest of his life despite all the bad sides he had shown him, and Xiao Zhan without missing a beat answered 'yes'. Xiao Zhan couldn't be happier that time, for the first time he had witnessed yet another side of the person he choose to love, he smiled widely remembering how Yibo shed a tear hearing his answer, Yibo hugged him tightly and lift him off the ground before spinning him all the while saying 'thank you' to him which he uses his lips to shush Yibo despite his embarrassment for him to know there was no need to thank him because choosing to stay with Yibo more than anyone else was worth his lifetime.
For the whole month, he has been with Yibo, he comes to realize that the Yibo he fell in love with was more than just the Alpha Prime Wang Yibo everybody feared about, Wang Yibo is more than just the scary and intimidating Alpha Prime, more than just the ruthless King everyone puts him to be. He is just Wang Yibo, his sweetest, caring, protective and loving lover, who he wouldn't regret choosing over and over again.
Wang Yibo shows him the different side of the world, he shows him his very own world, although the world Yibo comes from was far more different than the world Xiao Zhan was born in, they both fit in both worlds just fine, like they were both made to be with both world each of them belongs. Xiao Zhan doesn't care though, he doesn't care which world he needs to live in for as long as Yibo was with him, everything will be fine.
And now, staring in the eyes of the very hybrid wolf vampire Alpha Prime Wang Yibo, his one, and only person, his everything, his lover, his life, who he can proudly call his husband was worth everything Xiao Zhan had sacrificed for. He was no longer the famous celebrity Xiao Zhan, no longer known as the former X-nine member, no longer called the most talented actor, he was no longer the face of the entertainment industry because now, he was just Xiao Zhan, Wang Yibo's husband.
"What are you thinking, love?"
Smiling widely at the person lying next to him, Xiao Zhan snuggled closer to Yibo and bury his face into his chest, he can feel Yibo shift and maneuver both of them so that Yibo was lying on his back while Xiao Zhan lies on top of him, Yibo's right hand encircled his waist protectively like any minute someone will enter their secluded room and snatch him away while his other hand was busy combing Xiao Zhan's hair.
Xiao Zhan sighs happily.
His morning always goes to Yibo waking him up with kisses or hugging him tightly while whispering sweet words in his ear or sometime Yibo just combing his hair gently, his husband doing all of these just only proves that Xiao Zhan's decision to stay was never wrong.
"I was thinking if we can stay like this forever"
He hears Yibo chuckle, and Yibo's hand on his waist was now drawing soothing circles on his back. They were silent for a minute, thinking individually before he heard Yibo speak.
"There's no such thing as forever, everything has its limits, nothing last forever, have you heard of that saying?"
Xiao Zhan nodded, he waits for Yibo to continue.
"We could be nothing if you want us to last forever"
He can hear the playful tone of Yibo's voice which causes him to snort at his attempt of saying cheesy words. He lightly slap Yibo's hard chest before looking up, seeing Yibo already looking down at him with a smile plastered on his face, he can't help but be mirrored.
"You want us to be nothing?"
Yibo shakes his head before raising the hand he was using to comb Xiao Zhan's hair earlier, he used it to cupped Xiao Zhan's face and caress his cheeks with his thumb.
"No. Even if nothing is the only thing that lasts forever, I don't want to be just nothing to you. Although I'm immortal I know I have my limits too, who knows if someone kills me tomorrow, right?"
Xiao Zhan doesn't want to think of that scenario, but he nods regardless.
"So, for as long as I live, be assured that I will love you 'till then"
Xiao Zhan feels himself teared up, Yibo smiles at him and wipes the tears that had fallen from his eyes before leaning to kiss his forehead, he closes his eyes, feeling Yibo's warm lips against his skin.
"Be prepared then"
He teases, Yibo raises an eyebrow at him which he giggles at before continuing his words.
"Because you're stuck with my undying love for the rest of my lifetime"
He laughs out loud when Yibo snorts, pretending to be not amused at his cheesy statement but unable to contain the smile that formed on his lips, seconds later, he hears Yibo's amused laugh join his own, and then in a blink, he was being pressed against the bed and that Yibo was peppering his face with kisses, he can't help but laugh harder.
The future is unpredictable and they never know what's going to happen to them, they don't know when is their last breath, and Xiao Zhan was aware of the fact that he was not an immortal like Yibo and that the span of his lifetime was shorter than his husband and he was aware that Yibo knows that too, but if there's one certain thing, it would be that their love for each other will prosper and will last longer than their lifetime as they continue to choose and embrace each other for every tomorrow to come.
Their story might not be the best story that has ever been written, their confession might not be the sweetest and their first meeting might not be the time-stopping thing that everyone defines how they met their partners, but Xiao Zhan would be happy to say, that bringing the grumpy dog he found in a dark alley that night, bleeding but still has the audacity to glares at him, was the kind of decision he would never regret.
And as he felt Yibo's lips pressed against his, he can't help but smile. Now, he wouldn't need to be scared of the future that awaits him, he wouldn't need to wonder what his life would be like in the next decade to come, and he wouldn't need to ask himself if someone would love him enough to choose a life with him. Because now, he has Wang Yibo, he wouldn't need to worry about anything. Why would he?
He was the Alpha Prime's chosen mate, after all.
