Chapter Text
Peter was really tired.
Between patrolling, boxing classes with Matt and all his homework combined, he was certain he will die within the next few minutes. He was also in a really bad mood and Ned noticed the change immediately.
“Dude”, He said. “You, ok?”
Peter groaned. “Just stressed out.”
“Spiderman stuff?”
Peter glared at Ned. “Not so loud.” He hissed and sighed. “Yeah, plus all the homework we got and my defense lessons.” He suddenly sneezed. “Sorry.”
Ned gave him a worried look. “Dude, are you really, ok? I think you might be coming down with something.”
“No, I’m fine!”
OOO
He was not fine.
“Ugh... May, I feel awful!” Peter complained as soon as he got home from school.
May, who was currently finishing dinner, looked up. “Peter! You look like a truck ran you over!”
He was not going to tell her a truck almost ran him over on the way home. IN his spidey suit. Though, it would be a funny story to tell Matt. He can already see the headline on the Daily Bugle. SPIDERMAN SICK UP HIS ASS! ENDANGERS TRUCK DRIVER THAT ALMOST RAN HIM OVER. Yeah, he would see it already.
“Like you wouldn’t believe...” He answered instead.
May placed the back of her hand on his forehead. “Oh God, Peter. You have a fever, you’re burning up!”
“I know I’m hot, May.” He had no idea why he said that. He knew that sometimes people would say stupid shit when they had a fever. Fevers made funny thing to your head.
May looked down at her watch and sighed. “I have a shift now and God knows we need the money. Can you handle yourself for a few hours?”
“Sure thing!” He gave her a thumbs up.
May gave him a look.
“No, I can’t. I want to die...”
“I’m calling Matt.”
“Don’t you think he might be a bit busy?”
“No, I’ll call him. I would drop you off at his place, but you look like you’re about to drop dead.”
“I feel like I’m about to drop dead.” Said Peter as he sat down on the couch with a groan.
One phone call and half an hour later, Matt Murdock was standing at the entrance of the Parker residence. He had a bag from the pharmacy with different medicines for Peter.
“Matt, you didn’t have to.” May said as she picked her purse and her keys. “There’s medicine on the bathroom cabinet.”
“It’s expired and one of them smell like rotten egg.”
Mat gave him a look. “But I smelled it before.”
Matt winced. “Well, it’s gone bad. Trust me.”
May sighed. “A nephew who’s ten years younger than me and another nephew that looks about to drop dead. Both with superpowers. Of course, It’s an everyday thing.”
Matt chuckled as he left his cane on the table and started to take out the medicine. “Don’t worry, I'll take care of him until you came back. I’ll also take out the expired medicine.”
May smiled. “Thanks, Matt. Call me if you need anything.” Then she left.
Matt grabbed a cup of water from the kitchen, the medicine and headed for Peter’s room. He knocked on the door. “Peter?”
The teen simply groaned. Matt chuckled and took that as an invite. He opened the door and walked inside to find Peter wrapped in blanket from head to toe. The teen looked up.
“I have a fever.”
“I can tell.”
“You’re blind though.” Said Peter. If the teen had been in a clearer state of mind, he probably wouldn’t even mention it. Matt took it as the fever simply messing with his head.
“I know. I can still tell. Remember? Enhanced abilities?”
Peter took a moment to digest what his cousin said before sighing. “Oh, right...”
Matt sat down at the edge of the bed. “Come on, I brough you some medicine and water. Drink up.”
“I don’t want to.” Peter groaned and further buried himself into the blankets.
“Don’t you want to get better?”
“Mmh...” Peter was dozing off. “I don’t know.”
Matt chuckled. The kid was not talking coherently as of now and he would do what a good cousin like him would to snap him out of it.
“I heard MJ is going out with Flash Thompson.” He stated.
Peter shot up from his blanket fortress. “WHAT!?”
Matt laughed. “The look on your face!”
Peter simply stared at him. “Matt... you can’t see.”
Matt simply smiled at him.
“Oh, I walked right into that one, didn’t I?”
“Yes, yes you did.”
“Fuck you...” Peter cursed at him as he in his fever haze attempted to bury himself again in the blankets.
Matt grinned. “A lot of ladies have.”
“Ew! You’re gross!”
“No, YOU’RE gross with all that sniffing and buggers falling off. Here.” Matt handed him the glass of water and liquid medicine. “Drink up.”
“No.”
“Take them.”
“I don’t want to!”
“Are you stupid?”
“I’m a genius, YOU are stupid.” Peter answered back.
Matt placed the glass of water and pills on the nightstand. “The way I see it, I see a stupid little boy who doesn’t want to drink his grape juice flavored medicine.”
“Do I look like a little kid to you!? I can drink pills!” Peter glared.
“With the way you’re acting, it doesn’t surprise me if you were.”
He sighed. It was going to be a long night.
He chalked down as fever messing with his cousin’s head. Yep, that had to be it.
