Chapter 1: don't have to know everything right now

Chapter Text

"It's selfish, isn't it?" Anne asked.

She was sitting on the ground with her back against one of the nearby trees w hile Sasha rested comfortably in front of her, a blanket draped over her lap.

There were few clouds visible in the sky that night and a few stars, despite the lack of them though the full moon shone brightly overhead.

Sasha hummed as she turned her head to look at Anne, giving her an inquisitive look.

"What's selfish?" she inquired.

Anne didn't meet Sasha's gaze at first but when she did, her eyes showed how lost she felt.

"I-It just..." Anne sighed before continuing "I-it's.. nevermind, it's stupid to think about it anyways" Anne muttered.

"You know, sometimes you can't help but just think of things" Sasha explained slowly "And if you ever need someone to talk about them, you know I'm always here for you right?"

Sasha smiled gently at her.

Anne couldn't help but return the smile shyly, albeit blushing slightly.

"Thanks, Sash" Anne replied, still smiling.

"No problem" Sasha replied with a wink, making Anne giggle a little. She could feel something warm spreading across her chest that made her heart flutter happily.

"Tell me, Boonchuy" Sasha began talking again "What's on your mind?"

Anne took her time thinking about what she would say next, unsure whether to even say anything.

"... I just... I guess I've been wondering about someone recently" Anne confessed, not looking Sasha in the eyes as her cheeks flushed bright red for a moment.

A part of her regretted telling Sasha about this now but she figured that if anyone could understand her, it was Sasha.

"Is everything okay?" Sasha tilted her head slightly in concern.

"Did this person hurt you? I swear I'd beat them up if they did" Sasha continued.

Anne let out a small laugh in response to the sudden empty threat coming from her best friend, Anne can't believe she almost forgot how caring the blonde was towards those she cared about.

"...No, no it's nothing like that, it's just...." Anne paused before taking a deep breath "You're gonna think I'm being really weird with this...."

Sasha raised her eyebrows questioningly.

"...I've been having these strange feelings lately" Anne mumbled softly "about someone"

Anne turned to look at Sasha in the eyes.

"What kind of feelings?" Sasha asked.

"..the kind of feelings where you'd want to kiss someone" Anne confessed, now looking away from Sasha out of embarrassment of what she'd just said.

Sasha blinked for a while, processing what Anne had said as she and her remained quiet for a while.

"Oh" was all the blonde could say.

Anne turned her head to look at the blonde, tilting her head to the sides in confusion "Oh? What do you mean, oh?"

"Sorry! It's just..." Sasha trailed off, Anne noticed her blushing slightly "--surprising, I guess?" Sasha added.

Anne cocked her head to the side in curiosity once more "Surprising, how?"

Sasha averted her gaze for a second, biting down on her bottom lip nervously before responding "You rarely like involving yourself with romance these days sooooo-- I just kinda assumed it was something else entirely"

Anne chuckled lightly, scratching the back of her neck.

"I could see why you thought that" Anne admitted "I mean I've only dated eight people, afterall"

"Most of them had been out of curiosity and boredom" Anne added.

Sasha gave Anne an understanding look because just like her, she'd also had relationships out of her own curiosity and boredom.

"But this is different" Anne stated, confidently.

"This is different than the others" Anne clarified.

Yeah..." Sasha replied, hesitantly.

"So, who's the lucky guy?" Sasha questioned, smiling teasingly at Anne.

"Well, for starters it's not a 'he' actually" Anne smiled sheepishly at Sasha before scratching her chin, Sasha's eyes widened slightly at that.

"Not a he, huh?" Sasha repeated.

Anne nodded "Not a he" she confirmed with a smile "It's a girl instead"

"Oh well, who's the lucky girl then?" Sasha questioned in amusement, leaning forward to Anne slightly.

Anne rolled her eyes playfully "Well, i-it's-- uhm..."

Anne stopped herself, not sure how Sasha would react with what she had to say.

"You don't actually have to tell me who they are" Sasha stated "I'm fine with you not telling me or just giving me hints" Sasha assured Anne before giving her another playful look, this time with a bit of excitement in her eyes "I don't wanna force you into spilling your guts here"

Anne shook her head "No, it's fine"

"I don't mind" Anne added with a smile.

Sasha looked at Anne with gentle loving eyes before letting out a big sigh, seemingly preparing herself to ask Anne her questions.

Before saying it though, Sasha leaned in.

Much closer than before, placing a hand over Anne's own where they laid on top of grass.

Sasha locked her eyes with Anne, both of them feeling very aware of how close they were now.

"So, what she like?" Sasha whispered softly, not wanting to break their eye contact.

Anne bit down on her lower lip, her cheeks tinting a dark red "Like? She um--she um..."

"She's really pretty" Anne blurted out, letting out a shaky chuckle.

"She's nice, really nice" Anne continued, embarrassed by how bold she sounded.

"With almond blue eyes, it's like I'm looking at a dream whenever I look at her" Anne continued "her eyes are blue like the ocean"

Not having the blonde speak, Anne asked in nervousness "Um, is that too much information?"

Anne gulps.

She expected Sasha to make fun of her or to tease her for being sappy but that's not what happened.

Instead, Sasha's eyes softened as she looked intently at Anne with a comforting expression.

"That's not too much" Sasha replied, taking Anne's hands in hers.

"Tell me more" Sasha tells her.

"Her hands are so soft" Anne admits, staring down at her hands which seemed to be shaking slightly, not knowing why.

She looks back up to find Sasha staring at her in adoration

"and she wears her blonde hair down, waist length" Anne continues "Even when she laughs, she's still really prett-"

"Okay, Boonchuy" Sasha puts a finger on Anne's lips to silence her, looking rather amused.

Anne immediately stops talking, feeling embarrassed and confused.

Sasha takes Anne's hands in her own.

"If I'm hearing you correctly, you're in love" Sasha explains simply.

Anne looks away awkwardly, unable to meet Sasha's eyes anymore.

After a while of silence between them, Anne spoke up softly "Sasha?"

"Yeah?" Sasha responds.

"You know who I'm talking about, right?" Anne asked, quietly.

Sasha smiles softly at her.

"You're not really good at hiding it, Anne" Sasha chuckles.

Anne bites her lower lip, not really sure how to respond.

"So... what do you want me to do about it?" Sasha asks, giving Anne a gentle smile.

"I...I don't really know?" Anne replies honestly.

Sasha gently rubs Anne's knuckles with her thumb, smiling tenderly.

"Then what do you think is appropriate to do about it?" Sasha asks.

"Uhm... kiss her?" Anne suggested weakly, her cheeks heating up at the idea of kissing Sasha.

Sasha's smile widens.

"Good choice" She agrees with a nod of approval, squeezing Anne's fingers gently before pulling them closer to her and resting her left palm against Anne's cheek before pressing her lips onto Anne's.

Anne's blush got darker at Sasha's touch and she lets out a quiet gasp in surprise when Sasha wrapped her arms around her, holding her closer to her.

For the longest time, there wasn't any sound but eventually, Sasha pulled away, leaving Anne flushed and panting heavily.

Her cheeks were still tinged dark red and she found herself unable to look Sasha in the eye.

Anne cleared her throat softly.

"So um...what now?" Anne asked with nervous laughter.

Sasha didn't reply for a while, seeming to consider what to say.

"..I don't know, I was kinda hoping you'd know" Sasha answered truthfully.

"Well, besides that" Sasha took Anne's other hand into her own.

"We don't really have to know everything right now, right?" Sasha smiled.

Anne slowly nodded her head "Right"

Sasha's smile grew wider and she moved forwards to place a chaste kiss against Anne's cheek.

"I can still tell there's a lot on your mind" Sasha says while caressing Anne's cheek affectionately, making Anne blush even more.

"Well, whatever it is" Sasha starts "Whatever happens between us, whatever you feel, just know that I'll always be here for you, okay?"

Anne nods.

Suddenly, Sasha's stomach growls and she lets out a slight groan "Okay, let's go eat something"

"I haven't eaten yet since lunch" Sasha added, with a slight blush.

Anne giggled "Oh? I wonder why"

Sasha stood up and offered Anne a hand to help her get up as well, the brunette gladly accepted it.

"I'm starving for McDonald's" Anne says.

Sasha chuckles "Well, too bad for you I was kinda hoping for Thai Go right now"

Anne smiles "That makes me more hungrier now"

Sasha smiled back brightly at Anne before linking their arms together.
