Chapter Text

Mike is currently laid on top of Will Byers’ bed. After a series of kisses, they both decided to ditch school altogether. Will had convinced Mike to tell him the rest of what happened after Will had fallen asleep on his lap last weekend.

He remembered carrying Will inside of the Byers’ home. Jonathan opened the door for them as Mrs. Byers was already asleep by the time they got there. He placed Will on the boy’s bed at the same time informing Jonathan that El would be home soon too. He left the brothers after getting permission to stay over and borrowed their bathroom for that damn long overdue shower.

He returned to Will’s room and saw that he’s wearing fresh clothes. He’s brother must have took care of that. It’s wasn’t really part of his plan to get in the bed and cuddle with Will. Originally, Mike was just going to steal a quick kiss and sleep on the floor. All of that evaporated when Will grabbed his arm, Mike’s resolve immediately crumbled as he laid beside Will. At first, Mike intended to stay for a few minutes only then he’d be back on his spot on the floor.

He underestimated Will’s clinginess, as the boy practically was on top of him. This was the first time in years that Mike had shared a bed with his friend. Try as he might, there’s no getting out of his situation now that Will was draped over him. Mike would just enjoy it best as he could. He carefully took off his shirt to bathe more in Will’s body warmth.

“That’s why you were shirtless?” Will asks him as he looks down catching his gaze. Mike’s lying on the bed, his head pillowed on Will’s lap.

“Yep. Gotta seize the opportunity literally laid over me.”

He sees Will shakes his head as though disappointed but the smile on his lips says otherwise.

“What about when you called me baby as soon as you woke up?”

“Ah, that.” Frankly, Mike just said the most natural thing he could think of back then. In his head, Will was always baby. It’s honestly surprising it hasn’t slip Mike’s mouth before. He doesn’t say any of this to Will though. Instead he replies, “I thought you’d like it. And with the reaction you gave me last time, you bet I’ll be calling you that all the time.”

Mike laughs when Will mildly flicks his forehead.

“You should get drunk more often now.” Mike jokes, pulling Will down to lay beside him so they could cuddle. Will easily obliges, hugging him tightly. Will puts his head above his chest. Mike is suddenly reminded of that night in his car when Will was on his lap. He smiles at the memory.

“You were really cute that night, you know. I really liked you being overly clingy. I swear if we left you for even a second there, we would have found you attached to some stranger. Now that I think about it...maybe consider getting drunk only when we’re with you.”

“Mike.” Will sounds exasperated as he calls him. “I only drank so much that time because I was stressed.”

“And now you’re not?”

He feels Will shakes his head. “That’s good.” Mike lifts his hand to stroke Will’s hair. “I’d be offended if you’re feeling stressed while I’m cuddling you.”

Will lightly pinches on Mike’s side earning a yelp from him. For a while, it is silent, the sound of their breaths the only thing one could hear. Mike silently observes Will whose eyes are closed but he knows he’s not asleep. Yet, at least. He brushes a few astray hair from Will's forehead, noting the overgrown length of the bangs. Just because he can, he gently boops his friend’s nose. Or should he say boyfriend?

The nose boop makes Will’s eyes flutter open. Mike locks gazes with him. “Hey, we’re boyfriends now, aren’t we?”

He watches as a pink tinge steadily colors Will’s cheeks. Mike’s stare lingers even after Will buries his face on his chest. “I mean...if you want?” Will shyly whispers.

Somehow, this demeanor affects Mike making him feel bashful too. He endures the blush growing on his own face. “Of course I want to.” He replies in a whisper too. Will raises his face and smiles at him sweetly. Mike tilts his head down, swiftly pecking Will on the lips.

Mike picks up the sound of a door opening followed by the voices of their friends. He has half a mind to get up but it seems Will doesn’t want to move either.

“Who wants to bet they’re fucking?” he catches Dustin’s poor attempt at whispering.

“I don’t think it would be this quiet if they are.” Lucas replies a bit quieter.

“We can hear you dipshits!” he shouts at the others to which Will—who’s his boyfriend now, just to be clear—giggles at.

The bedroom door swings open a second after Mike’s yell. The whole party enters the room, inspecting the two. Seeing their very clothed bodies, they dismissed their appraising looks. The two girls however, squints their eyes at the two still cuddling on the bed.

“Don’t mind us go on—” Max starts before she’s cut off by El’s question.

“What exactly are we looking at?” El asks, her hands are on her hips. Mike gets the impression that it’s meant to intimidate them, or Mike specifically, it’s her brother after all who’s caged within Mike’s arms at the moment.

“You’re looking at a newly established couple.” Mike proudly utters, tightening his embrace on Will to back up his claim.

Mike’s ears were abruptly flooded with high-pitched screams as their friends celebrate their relationship. He laughs at their joyous energy.

All of a sudden, Mike and Will found themselves in the middle of a cuddle pile. All six of them were crammed in Will’s poor bed. They were a mess of limbs yet they still delight in the comfortable atmosphere filled with their giggles, some congratulations for the recently revealed boyfriends, a few insults here and there when an elbow digs painfully on a mass of body. All in all, Mike considers hanging out with their friends isn’t so much a bad way to spend his first moments being a couple with Will. It’s almost domestic just as how being Will’s newly confirmed boyfriend is all but a familiar feeling. Like it was always meant to be. Like they were always bound to end up together. Maybe that’s how fate works. Mike cringes internally at the thought but was ecstatic about it all the same.

Notes:

Notes:

for those who clicked this fic for a break in byler angst (we're drowning in tears lol) then don't worry this would be pure fluff :)

this was supposed to be a one chapter fic with 1-2k words only... i'm pretty sure this wouldn't exceed 5 chapters. i'll keep it fairly short, still. sorry for the typos or grammar mistakes, english is not my first language.
