Chapter Text
"Sauronnnnnnnn." Wei Wuxian let the name drawl out.
Sauron was once again ignoring him. The man was so rude. Always angry, always bullying him. It's not his fault that they were now stuck together. He didn't even know he was going to come back to life.
"Fine. Ignore me." He took to relaxing by a river. Laying his head down on his arms folded behind him. He closed his eyes for a moment. He hadn't slept since his awakening, right now he desperately needed that but at the same time he feared leaving his eyes closed for long.
Despite that, his exhaustion seemed to win the struggle against the fear and soon he found himself drifting into darkness.
…
Everything was so quiet. Extremely quiet.
Worryingly quiet.
Then there were these flashes of a great battle. The screams filled the quiet so quickly and overwhelmingly. He wasn't unaccustomed to the bloodshed but it wasn't really something he wanted a refresher on.
But the more he watched. The more he realized. This battle was extremely unfamiliar. Nothing was right.
Was he seeing Sauron's memories?
At the sudden thought he found himself from watching the battle to being in the battle. He was taller than everyone there, as if he were a giant. His, whatever it was, definitely not a sword, slashed through the other men like they were nothing.
'They were nothing' he thought for a short second.
All of a sudden, the battle was over.
Only his armies, and himself remained in a field of corpses.
The memory shifted, and in his hands, no longer clad in armor, was a beautiful yet simple ring. But then suddenly, the ring burned. He dropped it. And then he was falling.
In darkness.
Voices echoed all around him. So many whispers. They were just as overwhelming as the screams.
He closed his eyes.
He wanted them to stop but these whispers were not the ones he was used to. Not ones under his command. They got louder with every second. Until he couldn't take it anymore.
"STOP!"
He opened his eyes a few seconds after they stopped and what stared back at him was a burning eye. In the iris, a figure.
"...Sauron?" Was all he could manage to say.
and then Wei Wuxian woke up sweating, trying to catch his breath.
A low voice in the back of his mind spoke, 'You should be careful where you wander, Mortal.'
"...Why- what..I don't even know what just happened? I was just trying to sleep."
'Perhaps our connection is more than just sharing a mind but even..'
"Memories." The demonic cultivator concluded before continuing, "So, that battle. The person I became, Was that you?"
'Yes. Did you like it? One of the more enjoyable battles. No survivors needed.'
"..I- Well..It was..impressive with how quickly you took them down. Why are you so tall though?"
'Why not?'
Deciding that was that from that question, "So. What did they do?"
'What?'
"Well- you killed them for a reason right?"
'Hm.'
"...Right?"
'I suppose, though I doubt you'll agree.'
"Even if I did, it wouldn't really matter."
'Perhaps you are smarter than you look.'
"I AM smart. Didn't you see all my inventions these cultivators are using. They killed and despised me but hey, go ahead and use my inventions while you're at it."
'Hypocrites.'
"Wow."
'What?'
"Did you just agree with me?"
No response came.
"Sauron?.."
Still no response.
"Oh come on we were having a moment!"
