Chapter Text
Chad didn’t get any sleep that night.
After speaking with Benjamin, he’d marched down to the library and took the book on mythical creatures.
Chad flipped past the pages on griffins, chimeras, centaurs. He gave pause on the chapter about dragons, thoughts of Morgan floating into his head, but he kept going.
Finally, he found what he was looking for. Kitsunes.
Chad poured over the book until the information was seared in his brain. Tricksters, protectors, lovers— all things a kitsune could be.
Chad had his theories, all of varying degrees of severity. Benjamin seemed to forget the strength of the palace barriers— or, he had less faith in them than Chad did.
Chad knew Rex was the kitsune. He had to be.
The only question was what Rex’s motivation was.
There wasn’t enough time in the day. Chad had been on his way back to his chambers when he caught sight of the sun through the window.
He was strong. He was a prince. He could survive the day without sleep.
This may be worse than the kitsune.
