Chapter Text
The ink black waters are icy.
The only warmth you can feel is that of the body beside you, struggling to swim up. But there is no up. No matter how much he tries, he will never surface, because you’re both too far underneath the crashing waves to ever see daylight again.
Your body, in comparison, is frozen and rigid. You don’t bother to struggle alongside him, because there’s no point in it now. You don’t have the time- but Dismas does.
He scratches at the ocean of black around you, slashing through air bubbles and ink and anything that dares to stand in his way. He needs to breathe, to remove himself from this situation as fast as possible before he loses consciousness.
You yourself are feeling lightheaded, but only because you’ve accepted your fate long ago.
Another scratch, another whoosh of unsliceable water. He’s desperate to claw his way out of the inky depths, out of this unknown territory that you and he both know will only lead to disaster.
There’s too much harm, too much hurt.
A string around your finger, a rope around his neck.
Your consciousness fades to the desperate sounds of a man who you dragged under.
