Chapter Text
{Scene shows Marley walking into her empty music room in her apartment as she sees the guitar sitting there. She looks around and she walks over to the chair and takes the guitar in her hand. She sits down and she starts tuning the guitar before playing it and looking at the empty room, feeling a sense of sadness as she's about to close a chapter on her life}
[Marley]
A chapter begins, the pages turn in the wind
The story's so unpredictable
But the best is yet to come, whoa
I open my eyes and I can see the horizon
And the thrill's indescribable
In the California sun, it shows
You never know which way the ride could take you
Or how a breeze can make you start down a brand new road
You never know what place you're gonna end up
Even better than you dreamt of, right where you're meant to go
You never know, know
You never know, know
This summer is mine, I'm gonna give it a try
Another season, a life for me
And I don't know what happens next, no
But I'll embrace the mystery, see the forest for the trees
Cause branchin' out, there's no telling how much I can grow
You never know which way the ride could take you
Or how a breeze can make you start down a brand new road
You never know what place you're gonna end up
Even better than you dreamt of, right where you're meant to go
You never know, know
You never know, know
(You never know)
So this is eighteen for me
There's something waiting for me
So this is eighteen for me
{Marley keeps singing and she doesn't notice that Puck is slowly coming in the room with his crutches and walking boot as he watches her sing}
You never know which way the ride could take you
Or how a breeze can make you start down a brand new road
You never know what place you're gonna end up
Even better than you dreamt of, right where you're meant to go
You never know, know
You never know, know

Marley was taken out of her thoughts when she heard a repetitive clap, causing her to look up from her guitar and spot her husband there giving her one of his signature smiles. She took in the fact that Puck was standing there, which prompted her to get up from her chair and motion him to sit down in the spare one since he wasn't supposed to be moving around that much.
"Hey, what are you doing? You're supposed to be relaxing and not putting weight on your foot," Marley situated Puck in the chair as he gave a chuckle, appreciating how doting his wife was being.
"I was relaxing, but I realized that you were nowhere to be found, especially since we threw this party to say goodbye to our friends," Puck reminded her as Marley put the guitar back on its stand. "I figured you were saying goodbye to the house in your own way."
"Yeah, Nina wanted me to write her something for her debut album, so I thought it was fitting," Marley chuckled as she looked around the room that was once her little music office, where she wrote some of her best music and where she stored her Grammy's to remind her that she was one of the best in the industry.
"Are you gonna miss it?" Puck used his finger to motion to the entire room. Marley stared at the empty walls, almost as if she was reminiscing.
"The apartment?" Marley turned her head to him as he got her out of her thoughts. "In a way, yeah. We moved here right after we got married. It was our first grown-up apartment after living with my brother in the loft in Brooklyn."
"Yeah. As much as I appreciate Finn letting us stay in the loft, I think us getting our own place was the moment we both grew up," Puck admitted. "I mean, we had our children here, we raised Jessica and Samantha here. This was pretty much where we became who we are today."
"Also those huge windows in the living room are amazing," Marley thought as Puck laughed slightly. "It has sentimental value to me."
"It does to me too," Puck admitted before he clapped his hands together. "That's why I was able to talk to the landlord."
"What?" Marley wondered what Puck had meant as Puck gave Marley a warm grin.
"The landlord is willing to sell the apartment to you," Puck revealed. "I know you were kind of sad about leaving the apartment behind, so I thought maybe we'd keep the apartment for when we come back here with the kids during the summer. I wanted to work my magic one more time for you."
"You did that for me?" Marley felt tears well up in her eyes, Puck nodding his head insistently. "Noah, I…I don't know what I would do without you."
"I don't know what I would do without you, Marley," Puck wiped the tears that she had on her face, but Marley noticed Puck had some tears of his own. Fortunately for both of them, they were happy tears. "Thank you. I haven't been the easiest person to deal with and there are times where I know you want to rip your hair out when I do something stupid…but, I am so appreciative that you love me, flaws and all. And I am so glad that you and I are able to weather whatever storm comes our way. The best decision I've ever made was choosing you."
"Even with everything we've been through? Because you know it hasn't been easy," Marley nonchalantly shrugged her shoulders as Puck put his arm around her with insistence.
"Why do easy with someone else, when I can do hard with you?"
At that moment, Santana walked past the room and in her Santana fashion muttered, "Wanky," which caught Marley and Puck by surprise. After Santana had already passed, the both of them laughed, causing them to snap out of their bubble and deciding to head back to the party. But there was something Marley wanted to say before they joined their friends.
"I hope you know that matter what, I'm going to love you forever," Marley appeared determined as Puck gave her a heartwarming smile.
"I'll love you forever, my little songbird," Puck grabbed her hands and squeezed it. "I promise."
"Good," Marley leaned in and gave her husband a passionate kiss. After a few moments, Marley parted the kiss and got up from her chair, holding her hands out so that she could help Puck out of his chair. "Come on, we gotta get back to the party. We left everyone alone too long, and I'm afraid Sam might take this as an opportunity to swipe one of my Grammys and sell them on eBay."
"Okay, but I gotta go at my own pace here," Puck grabbed the crutches and got up from the chair. "Who knew being a cop would literally kick my own ass?"
"Says the guy who got shot and tortured how many times during his tenure?" Marley raised an eyebrow. "Besides, this is nothing. You'll heal just before you're slated to become Sergeant."
"Yeah, six weeks from now," Puck sighed, slowly heading out of the room as Marley patted his shoulder.
"Yep," Marley grinned. "Now you'll slow down a little bit."
"As long as Joey and Serena are in jail, then I can slow down," Puck motioned to the living room with his crutches as Marley closed the door to the room.
"Brittany was supposed to give birth three weeks ago, but our little girl just does not want to come out," Santana sat on the couch with Mike, Tina and Artie as she took a swig of wine. "And I don't know what to do. I mean, when my water broke, I was completely stressed because Brittany was leaving for Los Angeles and my grandmother wanted to bring chickens into the delivery room."
"How did you convince her not to?" Mike questioned, Santana shrugging her shoulders with interest.
"I had to tell her she wouldn't be allowed in the delivery room, and if there's one thing that can soften my grandmother's heart, it's babies," Santana replied. "I normally can't handle babies but as long as they belong to Brittany and me, I will not hesitate to cut a bitch to protect them."
"That sounds like you," Tina chuckled as Mike gave an endearing chuckle of his own. Santana raised an eyebrow as she saw Mike and Tina sitting closer than she anticipated, which caused her to point at the both of them with interest.
"So…what…what's going on here?" Santana motioned to the both of them.
"What?" Mike and Tina simultaneously looked at each other before gazing back at Santana.
"What are you talking about?" Mike added. However, Artie also shared Santana's gaze, which they both knew there was something going on with Mike and Tina.
"Don't play dumb," Santana chuckled. "We know that there's something going on here between the both of you. I have a Psychic Mexican Third Eye, or did you both conveniently forget? So spill, what's happening here?" Before Tina and Mike could answer, there was a knock on the door, causing Artie to unpark his wheelchair as he started wheeling across the room.
"I believe that's for me," Artie said.
"Who…who's at the door for you Artie?" Tina was glad to get the conversation away from Santana prying about her love life.
"Oh, that's my date," Artie said from over his shoulder as he made his way to the door. As she swung the door open, he saw Kitty standing on the other side, seeing that she was giving him a warm smile. "Hey, I'm glad you could make it."
"Marley blackmailed me into coming here," Kitty smirked even though both Artie and Kitty knew better. "Who told her she had the right to leave New York City?"
"I know, right? It's just like Puckerman to up and leave at the last minute and wanting us to say goodbye," Artie teased in return as Kitty leaned closer to Artie's face. "I'm glad that you're here though."
"I'm glad that I'm here too," Kitty leaned and gave Artie a kiss, one that Artie was glad to reciprocate. After a few moments, they parted the kiss and Kitty started making her way to the kitchen. "So, Mr. Director, I heard that you were nominated for an Oscar for best Documentary."
"I heard you won a Daytime Emmy for your work at ABC Boston," Artie followed Kitty as she got a drink from the fridge. "Your coverage of the Presidential Election was flawless."
"As was your documentary about the Presidential Election," Kitty complimented in return. "By the way, did you hear that Russell Fabray is spending the next 25 years in a Federal prison."
"And because he's a felon, he can never run for office again," Artie exclaimed. "So the bad guys actually lose this time instead of continuing their corruption." Kitty chuckled as she ran a hand through Artie's hair.
"You know, I can't say that it was all bad," Kitty nonchalantly shrugged her shoulders. "If it wasn't for the Presidential Election, we wouldn't have found our way back to each other. But, there is one thing I wanna know. Is Tina okay with us, because you know how Tina can be a little meddler." Artie turned his attention to Tina, who was still sitting a little close to Mike, before his eyes darted back to Kitty with a nod of his head.
"I think Tina is going to be just fine," Artie said. "Besides, I think she finally worked things out with Mike."
"Well, in that case," Kitty sat in Artie's lap as Artie unparked his wheelchair, Kitty motioned for Artie to wheel her to the living room. "Wheel me, baby."
"Ooh, I will do more than that," Artie winked as Kitty laughed and he made his way to the living room.
Brittany exited the bathroom as she walked past Artie and Kitty, trying her hardest to ignore the feeling she was having. She was extremely tired, and she felt a little off, but she didn't want to ruin Santana's fun at the party. She also didn't know when she was going to see Marley or Puck again since they were leaving New York, and she didn't want to miss her chance to say goodbye to either of them. Santana noticed Brittany coming towards her, all while Brittany placed her hand on her over-pregnant stomach.
"That's the tenth time I went to the bathroom in the last two hours," Brittany let out a tired sigh, sitting down next to her wife as slowly as she could. "I'll probably only be here another five minutes before I go to the bathroom again."
"Brittany, if you're uncomfortable, we can go home," Santana soothingly assured her. "I know you're overdue and you're wishing for the baby to come out, but we don't have to stay if you're just going to keep going to the bathroom."
"No, I'm fine," Brittany assured her. "I want to see all of my friends before the baby comes. Even if it means I go to the bathroom a million times."
"Well, if you're sure," Santana ran a hand through Brittany's hair but she realized there was something off. "Wait a minute…" As Santana looked around, she saw Blaine and Kurt coming into the apartment, but judging from their outfits, they seemed a bit disheveled, which gave Santana and Brittany an idea of what exactly happened between them.
"Oh my god," Brittany put her hand over her mouth as she tried to hide the smile she had.
"Hey, are we late?" Blaine walked over with Kurt as Santana raised an eyebrow. "Kurt and I would have been here earlier…"
"But you two were humping each other in the backseat of the Uber?" Santana smirked, Kurt and Blaine immediately glancing over at each other with widened eyes. "By the way, put on cologne, you reek of sex."
"I told you Santana was going to be able to tell," Kurt muttered to Blaine as Blaine tried to comprehend just how Santana was so observant.
"Psychic Mexican Third Eye?" Blaine stared at Brittany with a knowing expression.
"Psychic Mexican Third Eye," Brittany repeated.
"Not only that but you usually wear gallons of hair gel," Kurt added. "Your hair being all over the place is very telling."
"No, it's not," Blaine crossed his arms.
"It really is," Tina added, Santana pointing a finger at Blaine.
"I'm going to start not wearing hair gel," Blaine insisted. "That way people can't tell when I want to get frisky in the back of an Uber."
"You know, since you're both here, I was going to ask, where's Rachel and Finn?" Santana pondered. "I only noticed because Rachel isn't making everything about her and Finn isn't doting to every single one of Rachel's demands." Kurt hesitated but he knew he had to tell Santana at some point, especially since it wasn't much of a secret.
"Um, Santana, Rachel and Finn aren't here because Finn went back to Lima, Ohio this morning," Kurt explained. "And Rachel is still in New York, but she had to prepare for the Tony Awards."
"Wait, so Finn isn't going to be there for the Tony Awards?" Santana raised an eyebrow. That was when Kurt realized Santana didn't get it.
"Santana, Rachel and Finn are separated," Kurt elaborated, which caused Santana to widen her eyes. "They both wanted different things, so they thought it was for the best that they went their separate ways. Or in Finn's case, declaring that he wanted to do something for himself for once and Rachel not taking it well. Remember, no one else knows about this, and we're not going to turn Marley and Puck's going away party into a melancholy funeral for Finchel's relationship."
"Okay, I won't say a word, I promise," Santana crossed her arms as Kurt nodded his head and went past her. However, as Marley passed her, Santana put her arm on Marley's shoulder which caught Marley's attention. "You are not going to believe what I just heard."
"So, how long before Santana goes around and tells everyone Finn and Rachel's business?" Blaine asked after he and Kurt were footsteps away from everyone else.
Kurt held onto the cup that was full of wine, giving Blaine a tsk sound before shooting a knowing glance. "I give her 10 seconds. It seems to be already spreading like wild fire." Kurt noticed the surprised looks on their friends faces before his eyes darted over to Blaine. "You know, it kind of hit me that this is probably the last time we're all going to be be together for awhile."
"Yeah," Blaine nodded his head while taking Kurt's hand in his. "I like to think that we grew as people, right? I mean, being in New York made us different people."
"Yeah, we are definitely different people than the kids we were when we first came here," Kurt chuckled. "Especially with my dad as the president. He wants me to visit the White House which is exciting because I've never been there before."
"Your dad is going to make a big change," Blaine assured him. "He's going to make the world a better place for us, and the people are going to love him. Just like we already do." Blaine paused for a moment as Kurt gave him a smile, finally deciding to say what was on his mind. "Kurt, how would you feel about taking one more trip after going to Washington DC?"
"Oh, don't tell me that we're going to Las Vegas to get married by Elvis," Kurt chortled, Blaine shrugging his shoulders.
"Sort of," Blaine honestly said. "Not the married part, because I want us to be sure before we take that step again. But...I was offered another residency in Las Vegas, and I know it was the reason that we broke up the last time, but I haven't said yes yet because I wanted to run it by you. I'm ready to tell them no if you don't want to go, especially since you're busy planning the wedding of the century."
"You mean Jennifer Lopez's sixth wedding?" Kurt gave Blaine a smirk. "I love her as an entertainer, but I swear, the weddings are like a New York City bus. Wait and another one will come." Kurt did pause for a few moments as he thought about Blaine's offer, finally turning his head and giving him a smile. "As far as us going to Las Vegas, let's do it."
"Wait, seriously?" Blaine sounded surprised.
"Yeah, we can do it," Kurt nodded his head. "I can wedding plan from anywhere, and I want to be supportive of you. So, if us packing up our things and heading to Las Vegas is something you want to do, then we can do it. Besides, most of our friends already left New York. I don't think there's much left for me to do here. And who knows, maybe down the line I might be open to an Elvis wedding." Blaine gave Kurt a grin as he took a step closer, wrapping his arms around Kurt with adornment.
"Did I ever tell you that I love you?" Blaine stared into Kurt's eyes.
"You have but I will also take that I am the greatest," Kurt added, Blaine giving a laugh in return. The two of them leaned in and gave each other a passionate kiss, but it was interrupted when they felt Santana walk by, her eyes darting over to the both of them.
"Come up for some air before I find you screwing each other in the coat closet," Santana turned on her heels and continued on her way, all while Blaine and Kurt couldn't help but give an amusing grin towards Santana's antics.
"Well, I guess the one thing Las Vegas won't have is Santana," Kurt brought up.
"No, no it will not," Blaine smirked before pulling Kurt closer to him once more. "Now, where were we?" Kurt placed his hands on Blaine's cheeks as he gave him another passionate kiss, almost as if it were just the two of them in the room.
Jessica sat in the corner of the room as she watched the Alumni all spread out and mingling across each other. She thought about the moment she had entered this house, how she had went from a scared 15-year-old girl to a confident 21-year-old. She had a lot of love-and patience-along the way, but she was glad with how her life had turned out. She was taken out of her thoughts when Samantha came over with two cups in her hand, Jessica looking at the wine that was in it with interest.
"Are you sure that we can drink that?" Jessica pointed, Samantha chuckling and handing the cup to Jessica. "I know, silly question. It just doesn't seem real that we're 21 and we can legally drink alcohol."
"Time flies, doesn't it?" Samantha chuckled, Jessica looking down at the glass of wine with a smile. "Would you have thought that your life would have ended up here?"
"Not in a million years," Jessica shook her head, her eyes turning to Samantha. "I never would have thought that I would have had a family that loved me, or someone that saw me for me. Even though I know you didn't like me much as first."
"Excuse me? I think you were the one that didn't like me," Samantha jested in return, playfully elbowing Jessica in the ribs. "Are you going to miss them when they go?"
"I mean, a little bit," Jessica stared across the room as she saw Marley talking to Santana and Puck catching up with Sam and Mercedes. "They gave up a lot for me. Now it's time that they did something for them. I just wish that I had something that I could give them as a way to say goodbye."
"I think you do," Samantha raised an eyebrow with a chuckle. "Remember the song you were working on? I think it's ready."
"Oh…," Jessica felt her cheeks flush as she thought about the song. "No, not that song. I don't think it's ready."
"Babe, you've been locked in the studio for weeks trying to get it right. I personally think it's perfect," Samantha assured her, running a hand through Jessica's hair.
"You're my girlfriend. You're supposed to say nice things about my songs," Jessica reminded her. "I just don't know if the song sounds right as a solo…, and I don't want to sound stupid."
"Okay, if you're nervous singing it by yourself, then can I at least sing it with you?" Samantha questioned. "I really want everyone to hear it, and where else can you get a perfect opinion on a song than in a room full of people that love and support you." Jessica bit her lower lip as she thought that it wouldn't have been the worst thing to have them hear her song. Finally, Jessica gave a tired sigh, pointing a finger at Samantha in the process.
"I'm only doing this because you're singing with me," Jessica looked down at her wine cup and decided to give herself some liquid courage, bringing the cup to her lips and chugging the wine that was in there. After a moment, Jessica put the cup on the table next to her, getting up and going towards the middle of the room. Everyone turned their attention to Jessica as she turned off the radio and Samantha got the guitar that was sitting on it's stand in the corner of the living room. "I know, you're wondering what the hell I'm doing. If you just give me five minutes to talk, then I'll let you get back to your normally scheduled boredom." Samantha pulled a stool next to Jessica's as the two girls sat down, Jessica releasing a deep breath. "I have been locked away in the studio, trying to perfect this song, and I think I finally got it right. I thought this would be the perfect place to sing it because this was the house that introduced to me what love was like. And for the longest, I was just looking for love, sometimes in the wrong places. I'm grateful for the people that I've met, and this is my way of saying 'thank you'. I couldn't think of a better person to sing this with than Samantha, since she was one of the first people to love me for me. So, when you're ready."
Samantha grinned as she started playing the guitar, all while Jessica kept finding her eyes darting over to her girlfriend. It was almost like there was no one in the room with them; it was just the two of them. And it was almost as if no one elses opinion mattered.
{Jessica fold her hand as she stares at Samantha, Samantha glancing back at her with an adoring smile as she plays the guitar}
[Jessica]
We were young and restless
Pocket full of stars
Chasing down the moonlight
Until the night was ours
[Jessica with Samantha]
All we ever wanted
All we ever needed was love
[Jessica with Samantha]
Think you have the answers
When you're just a kid
We took a lot of chances
All the things we did
All we ever wanted
All we ever needed was love
Sometimes those memories
Can be hard to take
(Jessica: We all remember) the times
Before you ever felt your heart break
You never were the same
I won't make excuses
I have no regrets
I know what the truth is
I will not forget
All we ever wanted
All we ever needed was love
Sometimes those memories
Can be hard to take
We all remember the times
Before you ever felt your heart break
[Jessica]
You never were the same
[Jessica with Samantha]
All we ever wanted
All we ever needed
All we ever wanted
All we ever needed was love
Everyone stood up from their chairs as they started clapping, Jessica covering her face to hide the smile that she had from the feedback. After Jessica composed herself, she turned her attention to Samantha, gripping her shoulder with adornment.
"That was perfect," Jessica giggled. However, Samantha put the guitar to the side and got up from the chair, grabbing Jessica's hands and squeezing them.
"No," Samantha shook her head as she simultaneously got on one knee, going into her pocket and pulling out a box. "This is." Jessica widened her eyes as she tried to comprehend what was going on here, finally turning her head to Marley and Puck who were trying their hardest not to cry.
"WHAT'S HAPPENING?" Jessica asked in a sing-song voice, her eyes going back towards Samantha. Samantha kept a grin on her face as Jessica realized that Samantha was proposing. The shocked look from Jessica's face disappeared as she saw Samantha was having trouble putting her thoughts into words.
"I guess I should start by saying that I love you, and that you are the most important person in the world to me," Samantha bit her lower lip as Jessica gaped at her girlfriend. "Even when you didn't believe that you were worthy of anyone's love and attention, I knew. You're feisty, you're tenacious, you're spontaneous, and you're courageous. A lot of kids our age growing up couldn't compare to the life you had. You were dealt with a bad hand of cards, yet you kept fighting. You believed that there was better for you out there, and you gave your heart and soul to everything you did. I have always been in awe of you, Jessica, and I am captivated and in love with you. I know that I don't just want you to be my girlfriend. I want you to be my wife, for the rest of my life. I want you to be mine forever and you will make me the happiest woman in the world if you just say yes. Jessica Madlyn Goodwin, will you marry me?"
Jessica stared at the ring that was in Samantha's hand, as she tried to comprehend what Samantha had just said. After a few moments, Jessica grinned from ear to ear, bending down to Samantha's level and placing her hand on Samantha's cheeks.
"I will be honored," Jessica beamed.
"Really?" Samantha felt tears come down her cheeks as Jessica nodded her head with no hesitation.
"Yes," Jessica leaned in and kissed Samantha passionately as Samantha put the ring on Jessica's finger. Everyone started cheering, but Jessica and Samantha didn't even hear them. They were in their own little bubble, unbelieving that they were taking the next step of their life together. As Jessica parted the kiss, she got up from her position and made her way over to Marley, seeing that she was trying to keep it together. "Did you know about this?"
"Samantha told me not to say anything," Marley sniffled while hugging Jessica tightly. "I'm so happy for you, honey. Congratulations." Samantha joined alongside Jessica as Marley also went to give Samantha a hug, the three of them standing there in the middle of the living room. Jessica parted the hug and eyed Puck, seeing he was also giving her a smile.
"I'm surprised you're not sobbing," Jessica chuckled, Puck giving her a hug and squeezing her tightly. Something immediately clicked in Jessica's brain, realizing that she was hugging the person that gave her a second chance at life, especially when her own mother didn't want anything to do with her. She realized she didn't need her mother. She had all she needed right here. "Thank you for taking me in and for taking care of me. I know you were just 20 and a newlywed, and you had no idea what it was like being an adult. But I am so grateful for you."
"I'm so grateful for you too, Jessica," Puck dotingly responded as he squeezed her once more. "I love you, kiddo."
"I love you too, Puck," Jessica felt a tear go down her cheek while squeezing Puck tightly. Jessica's eyes widened when she heard a gigantic splash of water, causing everyone to turn to Brittany who was looking down at her ankles and the pool of water surrounding them. Santana covered her mouth with her hand as Brittany quizzically stared at everyone, unsure why everyone was still in shock.
"I think I peed on myself," Brittany pointed at her feet. Marley shook her head at Brittany's sentence, walking over and placing a hand on Brittany's shoulder.
"Brittany, honey, no," Marley soothingly said, Santana realizing where Marley was getting at. "You didn't pee on yourself, your water just broke. You're going into labor."
"I'm what?" Brittany stared at the pool of water down at her feet, but Santana immediately whipped out her phone to call an Uber.
"It means you're having the baby," Santana replied. "We're going to have to go to the hospital! The baby's coming!"
"Oh my god, this is so exciting," Kurt clapped his hands, but Brittany suddenly felt nervous. She was about to give birth to her and Santana's daughter, and it was something she had never particularly done before. And if Brittany was honest, she was absolutely nervous.
Finn pulled his suitcase behind him as he walked along the streets of Lima, Ohio, making his way to Burt and Carole's house so he could drop off his things. However, even though he was in Lima, Ohio, he felt like there was something off. Ohio didn't feel like it normally did to him every time he came back. It was like Ohio's sparkle was missing. Finn pulled up to the front door and looked for his house keys, but he was surprised when the door opened and he saw his mother standing there with a smile on her face.
"Mom?" Finn innocently blinked while Carole gave her son a welcoming glance.
"Finn, honey, I wasn't expecting you here," Carole gave her son a hug, Finn hugging her in response. "What are you doing here? Where are the kids? Where's…where's Rachel?" At the mention of Rachel, Finn felt his heart drop, finally staring at his mother while giving her a saddened glance. Carole knew that there was more to the story, and that was when she decided to let her son in so that he can explain himself.
Carole poured some tea in a cup as she and Finn sat at the kitchen table, Finn grabbing the cup and putting sugar in his tea. He couldn't remember the last time he and his mother had tea together and talked, but he was always fortunate that his mother was never too busy for him.
"Mr. Schue offered me an opportunity to come to Lima, Ohio to teach the New Directions," Finn revealed. "I told Rachel about it, and she didn't take it very well. We got into an argument. In the end, it just seemed like Rachel and I wanted different things, so...we separated. I don't understand how Rachel wanted me to basically be her pet while we were in New York, but the moment I wanted to do something for me, she basically abandoned me."
"Finn, I don't understand though," Carole folded her hands while glancing at her son. "I thought that you were happy in New York City. I mean, you graduated from one of the most prestigious colleges in the world, and became a professor. And I know that you love coming home to Lima, and being with the New Directions, but don't you think that maybe you're going a little backwards, like you're trying to hold onto your youth?"
"Why does everyone say that?" Finn groaned. "I am not trying to hold onto my youth. I just don't want to get bored. I don't want to end up hating my job."
"Honey," Carole gave Finn a knowing look, which caused him to glance at his mother with interest. "I've known you your entire life. And that means I know that once you're passionate about something, you do anything you can to reignite that passion even when it gets a little stale. Sometimes our jobs will seem a little boring, and that means we just have to breathe a little more life into them. You've done it with your Glee Club for years, and as much as you want to believe it, you don't really belong here in Lima. Lima is more of a safe space for you, but it doesn't allow you to grow."
"It doesn't?" Finn pondered.
"Nope," Carole smiled. "Finn, let me ask you something. When you got semi-honorably discharged from the army, where was the first place you went?"
Finn held the cup close to him as he thought of the answer to his mother's question. "I went to New York."
"And why did you go to New York?"
"Well for two reasons," Finn honestly answered. "One because I knew if I came back here with my tail between my legs, I would have been embarrassed. Because what 19-year-old comes back to Lima, Ohio after graduating and flunking out of the army? And second of all, I went because I knew Rachel was there."
"Because Rachel was there?" Carole gave a knowing expression as Finn tried to backtrack his answer.
"I mean, it was the one place I knew someone," Finn revealed. "I knew Rachel wasn't going to judge me like most people would if I came back here. But that was years ago. I don't really want to talk about Rachel."
"Okay, we don't have to talk about Rachel," Carole agreed before changing the subject. "I don't think you ever told me this, but why did you choose to go to NYADA? It just seemed sudden to your father and I when you said you were going to go to college in New York."
Finn innocently stared at his mother, realizing just what she was doing. "Mom…"
"Finn, just answer the question," Finn pursed his lips, finally deciding that he was going to entertain his mother a little longer.
"I really went to NYADA because I knew Rachel was into Brody," Finn said. "Um, Brody is Quinn's husband, but at the time he was an upperclassman who had interest in Rachel. I couldn't see Brody with her because just as I thought we were reconnecting, it just felt like Rachel didn't need me. So I auditioned for NYADA and by the grace of God, I got in. They normally let in like 20 students a year, but I was surprised that I was one of those 20. After all, I never saw myself as a theater kid. While I was there, I found out NYADA had a Glee Club, but it was a hot mess. I decided I needed a hobby, so I took over the Glee Club. From there, we went up. We won Nationals the first time since 1992 in my first year there, and from there it felt like I could do anything. That I was capable of being a teacher, and that I was good at it."
"In a way, none of those things wouldn't have happened if Rachel hadn't given you that push," Carole took a sip of her tea. "Right?"
"I mean," Finn stuttered, realizing his mother was right. "Yeah, she gave me the push. But…"
"But…," Carole slowly interjected before Finn could try to brush Rachel to the side again. "Finn, you grew into an amazing human being, and a wonderful father…because of Rachel. You both had a lot of bumps in the road, but you can't deny the fact that you both grew for the better. You know, I want you to be happy Finn, and if you think that being here in Lima, Ohio is where you're happy, then go for it. But I also want you to be sure that you're making the right decision, because you're about to give up a whole lot if you decide to leave New York for Lima."
Finn thought long and hard about what his mother had said before ultimately getting up from the table and motioning towards the empty cup. "Thanks for the tea, mom. But I think I know what I'm doing." Finn gave his mother a kiss on her cheek before heading out of the kitchen and out the front door. But as Finn left, Carole felt her face drop.
She didn't want Finn making a mistake that he wasn't going to be able to take back.
Finn wasn't sure exactly why, but he felt triggered when his mother tried to bring up Rachel. He wanted to be able to make this sound decision without everyone trying to guilt trip him by leaving Rachel back in New York. He decided to go to the one place that he thought he was going to be able to actually think: the McKinley High School auditorium.
The drive to the school was a quiet one, which Finn wasn't a fan of, so he decided to turn on the radio. The first song that came up was Hey There Delilah by the Plain White T's, which made Finn grip his steering wheel. Why was it that everything in this small town of Ohio reminded him of Rachel? Without hesitation, Finn turned off the radio, and parked in the McKinley High School parking lot, getting out of his car and walking through the school. As soon as Finn reached the auditorium, he saw a guitar sitting on the stage, almost as if it was inviting Finn to play it. He wasn't going to turn down an opportunity to sing his heart out in the place that gave him his start. He walked on the stage and sat in the stool next to the guitar, picking up the guitar and strumming along to the song he heard on the radio earlier.
Maybe if he sang his feelings, he wouldn't be so conflicted about leaving Rachel behind while he finally followed his dreams.
{Finn plays the guitar as he looks at the empty auditorium stage, even wondering what Rachel is doing in New York City at that moment}
[Finn]
Hey there Delilah
What's it like in New York City
I'm a thousand miles away
But, girl, tonight you look so pretty
Yes, you do
Times Square can't shine as bright as you
I swear, it's true
Hey there Delilah
Don't you worry about the distance
I'm right there if you get lonely
Give this song another listen
Close your eyes
Listen to my voice, it's my disguise
I'm by your side
Oh, it's what you do to me
Oh, it's what you do to me
Oh, it's what you do to me
Oh, it's what you do to me
What you do to me
Hey there Delilah
I know times are getting hard
But just believe me, girl
Someday I'll pay the bills with this guitar
We'll have it good
We'll have the life I knew we would
My word is good
Hey there Delilah
I've got so much left to say
If every simple song I wrote to you
Would take your breath away
I'd write it all
Even more in love with me you'd fall
We'd have it all
Oh, it's what you do to me
Oh, it's what you do to me
Oh, it's what you do to me
Oh, it's what you do to me
A thousand miles seems pretty far
But they got planes and trains and cars
I'd walk to you if I had no other way
Our friends would all make fun of us
And we'll just laugh along because we know
That none of them have felt this way
Delilah, I can promise you
That by the time we get through
The world will never be the same
And you're to blame
Hey there, Delilah
You be good, and don't you miss em
Two more years and you'll be done with school
And I'll be making history like I do
You know it's all because of you
We can do whatever we want to
Hey there, Delilah, here's to you
This one's for you
Oh, it's what you do to me
Oh, it's what you do to me
Oh, it's what you do to me
Oh, it's what you do to me
What you do to me
Oh, whoa, whoa
Oh, whoa, oh
Oh, oh
Finn wasn't expecting to hear a clap in the auditorium, but that was when Finn was confused. Mr. Schuester had already left for London, and it wouldn't have been Sue Sylvester encouraging him. He didn't think Sue had an encouraging bone in her body. That was when Finn widened his eyes and had to do a double take. It was someone that Finn hadn't seen in years.
"I see that you found your foundation…," The man stuffed his hands in his jean pockets, causing Finn to stammer. "Well…kind of."
"I…," Finn got off the stage and walked towards the man, unbelieving with who he was talking to at that moment. "Sergeant Nettles?"
"In the flesh," Sergeant Nettles responded. While Finn was surprised that Sergeant Nettles was standing before him, he also wanted to know…just what was he doing here, talking to Finn. And how did he know where to find him in Lima, Ohio?
There was nothing more in the world Rachel wanted than to spend time with her friends who were currently at Marley and Puck's house for a going away party. But Rachel had something that was important to her, something that was going to potentially change her life forever.
Rachel was going to the Tony Awards, where there was a possibility that she was going to win her first Tony Award for her role in Vienna.
She was currently working on trying to find the perfect dress for the occasion, and since Rachel didn't trust her own intuition, she decided to ask Quinn to help her find a dress. Even back in High School and before Quinn and Rachel were friends, Rachel always considered Quinn the most stylish out of the bunch. And with Quinn close to her due date, she wanted a distraction. Quinn brought out a few dresses and laid them down on the couch next to where Cory was sleeping, the dog's eyes opening and seeing all of the fabric taking up his sleeping space. He made a 'fuff' sound and got off the couch, going over to his bed and lying there, all while Rachel looked up from the piece of paper she had in her hand.
"Here we are," Quinn beamed, pointing at the dresses that were on the sofa. "These were the three that we narrowed down from the initial 50."
"Thank you for helping me look for dresses," Rachel smiled. "I know that you probably wanted to go to Marley and Puck's party instead but…"
"I honestly needed some quiet time, and both Marley and Puck understood," Quinn waved her hand dismissively. "Besides, we can't have you looking like a sad clown hooker on the red carpet, now can we?"
"Yes, cause that's all I need," Rachel smirked. "Imagine me wearing too much self-tanner or having makeup that looks like the Mad Hatter?"
"It's a good thing I'm skilled with make-up too," Quinn laughed. She stared at Rachel who was busy staring at the dresses, finally deciding to ask what was on her mind. "Have you heard from Finn?"
The question made Rachel pause and stare down at her feet. "No, I haven't heard from him. Last I heard from Kurt, he had already gone back to Lima."
"He was serious about wanting to go back to Lima?" Quinn bit her lower lip.
"Yeah, apparently so," Rachel ran a hand through her hair. "He wants to go and turn the New Directions into a winning show choir. I can admire that because Finn has the talent to do so. But, I can't believe that he would just give up his job at NYADA…or our whole marriage for the New Directions. I understand finding things that bring us comfort, but at what cost?"
"Take it from me, I know that it seems like Finn had everything going from him, but it's still possible that he felt lost," Quinn said. "I can sympathize with that. In High School I was the popular cheerleader who would kill to be Prom Queen. And when I finally got everything that I wanted, I realized, I was still a little lost."
"Yeah, Finn told me that you gave me Prom Queen because you felt sorry for me," Rachel took a deep breath before Quinn shook her head.
"No, Rachel, listen to me," Quinn grabbed Rachel's hand and firmly squeezed it, Rachel looking at Quinn with interest. "I didn't give you Prom Queen because I felt sorry for you. I gave you Prom Queen because everyone deserves a moment where they can feel special. I had already fulfilled everything I wanted in High School. I just wanted to spread that love around a bit. Believe it or not, Rachel Berry, you are a queen and you need to see yourself that way. That's why I am so dedicated to making sure that you look like the queen you are at the Tony Awards." Rachel felt tears come to her eyes as she hugged Quinn tightly, finally breaking the hug and pointing a finger at her.
"I appreciate you wanting to make me look like a queen. But I don't want to be confused as one of the leads in Six," Rachel jested, Quinn laughing in response. Rachel finally wiped some of the tears from her face as she saw a dress that stood out to her, finally looking over at Quinn and pointing towards the fabric. "And I think that I found the perfect one."
"You know, I think you found the perfect one too," Quinn nodded her head. "Just remember, second chances come once in a lifetime, and you were fortunate enough to get a second chance on Broadway. I think your tenacity makes you extraordinary."
"Thank you," Rachel squeezed Quinn's hand once more before noticing Quinn's pronoun belly. "I hope you believe the same thing for you. Because I know that getting a second chance at motherhood leaves doubts that you're going to get it right. After knowing you all these years, I know it will, because there's no one more caring than Quinn Fabray. You're going to be an amazing mother." Quinn chuckled as she patted Rachel's hand, a warm smile gracing her lips. However, before Quinn could speak, she immediately looked down at her ankles, and saw there was a puddle there, causing the smile to vanish and her to look at Rachel with widened eyes.
"Rachel?" Quinn's voice sounded eerie as Rachel stared at her friend with worry. "I think my water just broke."
"Um, we're gonna have to get you to the hospital, like, now," Rachel went to her phone and attempted to call an Uber, all while Quinn sat down on the sofa and looked at her belly. She was about to be a mother, and everything that she had been waiting for was finally coming true. "The Uber should be here in five minutes, and I already called Brody. He's going to meet us at the hospital."
"Okay," Quinn took a deep breath, her eyes glancing at Rachel with worry. "I'm not going to lie, I'm a little nervous right now."
"Don't worry, you're going to be fine," Rachel assured her. "I would coach you, but you've been here before, so no need for that." Quinn got up from the sofa as Rachel led her out, the two of them making their way to the hospital so that Quinn could give birth to her child.
Puck hoisted himself with his crutches into the elevator of the police precinct while pressing the button to the ninth floor. He leaned against the wall of the elevator, taking in the silent elevator ride before ultimately the door opened. Puck used his crutches to get out of the elevator and made his way to his desk. Everything that had occupied his desk was placed in a box, the box that was going with him to Los Angeles. He stared around at the empty bullpen for a few moments, remembering him walking through the doors for the first day of his internship. From there, he became an actual officer, then a detective. Now, he was going to be a Sergeant in Los Angeles, and while he was excited, he had to wonder if he was making the right choice, leaving New York for something uncertain.
"I knew you'd be here," Puck turned around and saw Scott standing there with a grin.
"Hey, what are you doing here?" Puck wondered. "Didn't you and Anna have to go back to Las Vegas?"
"About that...," Scott cleared his throat and walked over to his friend. "Since you were leaving, there was an opening for a Detective spot in New York City. Oliver asked if Anna and I wanted to come back. You know I couldn't pass up an opportunity to come back, especially when I finally get to teach again."
"You're taking someone else under your wing?' Puck sounded amazed. "Who is it?"
"You remember Holly, right?" Scott questioned. "The Commissioner was very impressed with what she and Marley did. But since Marley doesn't want to actually be a cop, he offered a job to Holly and she's going to be following Anna and I around. She gets a chance to be the Holly Collins that we thought we were working with."
"Holly is going to be in good hands, especially if you're teaching her," Puck patted Scott on the shoulder, his eyes eventually going towards his desk. "Well, if you're going to take over my spot, then I might as well clean out my desk."
"Very true, you wouldn't want to forget all of your trinkets," Scott jested in return as he and Puck went to the desk. Puck saw the box that was sitting on the table, his eyes darting over to all of the sentimental things he kept over the years.
"It's been awhile so I wonder what I got in here," Puck smirked, looking in the box and pulling out a glued popsicle stick house. "I remember this. You insisted on making a popsicle stick house."
"I can't believe you kept that," Scott took the popsicle stick house and stared at it with a smile. "Man, if being a cop didn't work out for me then I could have been an architect."
"Yes, of making popsicle stick houses for little Lego people," Puck chuckled, going into the box and pulling out a sheet of music. Puck studied the words, seeing that it said 'Cloud 9' scribbled on it. "Oh, this was the song Marley wrote for Sectionals her first year in Glee Club."
"You know, I never understood why you guys competed in Glee competitions," Scott looked over Puck's shoulder to look at the words. "You guys acted like it was like a sport."
"Glee Club shaped who I was," Puck honestly said. "Without it, I wouldn't be the person I am. I also never would have met Marley if it weren't for Glee Club. So in more ways than one, Glee Club saved me."
"Okay, I won't make fun of Glee Club," Scott put his hands up playfully before seeing Puck take something else out of the box. "Oh, what do we have here?"
"Oh, I haven't seen this in years," Puck took out an empty pudding cup, but Scott didn't see the sentimental value of something that looked like trash.
"Do I have to call Hoarders because I will not hesitate to do so," Scott jested, but Puck stared at the cup sentimentally, almost as if there was some hidden meaning behind it.
"I know it looks like I have a hard time throwing out garbage, but this was the first cup of chocolate pudding that Marley and I ever shared together," Puck revealed "She was lost because the Glee Club in High School was treating her like crap and I was just getting over a bad breakup with Quinn. So, I brought Marley a cup of pudding. We shared our first kiss that day."
"Aww, that's actually really romantic," Scott smiled, Puck looking at the empty cup in his hand.
"That day I was given a second chance at love," Puck said. "I don't know where I'd be without Marley. If it weren't for her, I wouldn't be in the position I am now."
"Yeah," Scott gave a sentimental smile, patting Puck on the back. "You hit the jackpot as far as wives are concerned. I had to make sure that you didn't do anything stupid because I would have kicked your ass if something happened to you and Marley. They really don't make them like Marley."
"Yeah, they really don't," Puck smiled as he thought of his wife. "I don't plan on ever ending things with her because she's my soulmate and I love her dearly, but if God forbid something were to happen, I would be thankful for the life we had together, because she made me grow as a person and she gave me two of the best kids I could ever ask for. I'm fortunate that I have a partner like her, and I can't wait to see what Los Angeles has in store for both of us."
"So are you going to immediately buy Los Angeles Dodgers caps and live in rich Beverly Hills?" Scott teased.
"I was thinking more of Calabasas and rooting for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim," Puck joked in return, giving Scott a tap on his shoulder.
"Don't go all Hollywood on me," Scott and Puck shared a chuckle before Scott gave Puck a sentimental look. He remembered when he first met Puck as a young teen and an intern. Now he was going to go to Los Angeles to be a Sergeant for the Los Angeles Police Department. Scott couldn't help but bring Puck into a hug, Puck easily reciprocating the hug. "I'm so proud of you, Puckerman. You've really grown into an amazing cop. It was an honor to know you."
"It was an honor to know you too," Puck patted Scott's back once more. "I always looked up to you, and through the ups and downs, I always considered you and Anna family. I always will."
"I'll always consider you and Marley family too," Scott reciprocated. Puck felt his eyes water as he tried not to cry, finally clearing his throat and motioning towards the box.
"I better start heading out," Puck said. "I have some last few things to do before we leave and I should get some rest."
"Yeah, you're going to feel jet lagged by the time you get to LA," Scott chuckled before his face turned serious. "Just remember one thing; second chances don't come very often, and you only get one second chance. Show Los Angeles what Noah Puckerman is made of." With that, Scott turned on his heels and walked to the elevator, pressing the button so that he could head downstairs. The elevator dinged as the door opened, Scott and Puck taking one last look at each other before Scott went in and the elevator doors closed behind him. Puck wiped the one tear he had on his face before turning around and grabbing the box, and slowly making his way to the elevator himself, so he could go home and prepare for Los Angeles.
Finn sat at the Lima Bean as he held the cup of hot chocolate close to him, almost unbelieving that his former commander was sitting at the table across from him. It had been years since Finn had seen Sergeant Nettles, and he had to wonder just how Sergeant Nettles had found him, not to mention knowing that Finn was taking a job with the New Directions in the fall.
"I never understood you," Sergeant Nettles cleared his throat, motioning to the hot chocolate in Finn's hand. "Like for starters, how can you drink hot chocolate in the summer?" Finn looked back at the cup shrugging his shoulders and biting his lower lip.
"I hate coffee, so I drink anything but that," Finn answered.
"I get that, but why hot chocolate in the summer?" Sergeant Nettles pondered. "It's 90 degrees."
"I guess I'm just weird," Finn lightly chuckled, looking down at his cup and biting his lower lip. "Sergeant Nettles, I don't understand. What are you doing here? How did you find me? And don't you have some other unlucky person to yell at after shooting themselves in the thigh?"
"Okay, I'll answer your questions," Sergeant Nettles put his hand up before Finn could ask more. "First of all, your mother called me."
"How did you get my mom's number?" Finn widened his eyes.
"Her number was your emergency contact," Sergeant Nettles revealed, Finn innocently blinking in return. "And I retired from the army a few years ago. I went to build my own roots. And from what your mother told me, you found your roots in New York."
"Temporarily," Finn slyly looked away from Sergeant Nettles.
"I don't know about that," Sergeant Nettles folded his hands. "You went to New York City, enrolled in college, found your passion for music, and helped so many others craft their love for music too. It's not the army, but it's probably just as brave because you put yourself out there, not knowing what the future held for you. On top of that, your mother told me you got married and had two beautiful children. So I guess the question for you is why are you here and not there with them?"
"Because everything in New York City had to do with what Rachel wanted," Finn sounded frustrated as he looked at Sergeant Nettles with sadness. "I mean, I felt like I was just orbiting around Rachel's world. If she wanted Broadway, I had to stand there and support her. Truth be told, Rachel and I don't see eye to eye when it comes to Broadway. She becomes a completely different person."
"You mean confident?" Sergeant Nettles questioned, Finn raising an eyebrow at his words. "Even before you came along, I'm sure all Rachel imagined was Broadway, and it's something she's exceptional at. She may not understand everything about you wanting to be a teacher, but I'm sure that she supports you. You don't have to understand her love for Broadway, but if there was anything I learned about being married, it's that you should be supportive, even if things don't make sense to you. At the end of the day, it's not about you. It's about your partner, even if it means putting your own wants on hold for a little bit. I'm sure with Rachel helping you with Glee Club, she did just that for herself." Finn thought for a moment as he realized Sergeant Nettles had a point, but there was a part of him that was still stubborn. "You had a second chance with Rachel. You thought you lost her, and you found a second chance to be with her in the most hard hitting and complex cities in the world. And from what I heard, you built something beautiful with her. It would be a shame if you gave up on her before you got the chance to see what an amazing life you and her have together. Don't make the same mistake I did, Finn. I've been paying for it for years."
"Did you choose the army over your wife?" Finn couldn't help but ask, Sergeant Nettles nodding his head slowly.
"I wanted to be in the army more than anything in the world," Sergeant Nettles replied. "I applied for it before I got out of High School. And while I was in combat, I got injured and met my future wife in the infirmary. She was my nurse. We fell in love, got married and had a son. Things went downhill when I was missing the army life, and wanted to go back. She didn't have that same dream anymore, and instead of staying home and finding another job to be closer to my son, I left. I worked my way up to Sergeant, thinking that I could mold those kids the way that I was molded. But one day, I got a phone call. My son was in High School and he was driving home from a party when a Toyota slammed into the side of his car, killing him instantly. I had the option of going home and comforting my wife, but I stayed and buried myself into work. The next phone call I got from my wife was her wanting a divorce. Because I was so stubborn about what I wanted, I lost everything, and that's something I can never get back. I'll never get a second chance with my son, and I'll never get that second chance with my wife." Sergeant Nettles got up from the table and took out a $20, putting it down on the table as Finn stared at his former commander. "I got what I wanted, but it was a very lonely rise to the top. I would hate for that to be the same thing for you. Go home. Be with Rachel and with your two kids. Your children at least deserve that much." With that, Sergeant Nettles turned on his heels and made his way out of the coffee shop, Finn staring down at the $20 that was on the table.
As much as Finn wanted to agree with Sergeant Nettles, he still felt compelled to stay in Lima. He had given Rachel a second chance when he went to New York. Now he wanted a second chance for himself.
{Finn looks down at the cup of coffee and he thinks for a minute, finally getting up from the table and walking out of the Lima Bean}
[Finn]
Who knew that love could be so bittersweet
Oh, when it finally meets the end?
But there is something in this summer wind
A moment to begin again
{Scene changes to Marley packing one of the last boxes, closing it and looking at the New York skyline out the window}
[Marley]
I know that every time a door a shut
A window opens up for me
It's all wide open down this road I'm on
I'm finding who I want to be
{Scene splits between Finn and Marley as Finn continues walking down the street and Marley closes the last box}
[Finn and Marley]
I got a second chance to fly
I got a second chance to fall
What can make the tide turn
What can make the fire burn?
A second chance is all
{Scene changes to Puck going down the hallway of the precinct as he reminisces about his time at the NYC Police Department}
[Puck]
Was I a fool to read between the lines
Did I misread the signs that much?
Who would have thought we'd come as far as friends
Maybe that should have been enough
{Scene changes to Rachel looking at the dress Quinn had chose for her as she thinks about where Finn could be}
[Rachel]
Maybe I'm safer when I'm on the run
No time to open up my heart
Maybe I'll hide behind my walls again
Instead of tearing them apart
{Scene splits fourway between Finn, Marley, Puck and Rachel as they sing. The scene then splits to all of them passing by a mirror or window with their reflection and they all see their High School selves in the mirror, as they stare back at their reflection}
[Puck and Rachel]
I got a second chance to fly (Finn and Marley: a chance to fly)
I got a second chance to fall (Finn and Marley: a chance to fall)

{As soon as the song ends, Finn is shown to be standing alone, looking around and realizing he was imaging everything in his head. He walks off and turns off the light to the auditorium, with everything going pitch black}
The next morning, Marley sat at the NYADA piano as she fiddled with a few keys, eventually hearing something that she liked and charting it. As she was about to get back to writing, she heard the door open, causing her to turn and see Rachel standing there with a small box. Marley welcomed the distraction, causing her to fold her hands as Rachel walked up to the front of the auditorium stage.
"Hey, what are you doing here?" Marley questioned, looking down at her watch. "I thought you had to get ready for the Tony Awards tonight. Plus, I heard you had an eventful day since Quinn also went into labor."
"I do, but I had something for you," Rachel smiled, holding the small box out and Marley raking it. "I know that you and Puck are leaving tomorrow, so I wanted to give you a little something before you go." Marley looked down at the box and opened it, seeing that there was a small key on a chain, causing her to turn to Rachel with a smile. "I had it made it for you because I wanted you to have a little piece of me until the next time we see each other. We had a lot of ups and downs, but aside from Finn there was no one else I valued more than you. I feel like in a way you made me a better person, so I wanted to do this as a way to say thank you, and that I'm going to miss you."
"Aww, Rachel, thank you," Marley took the necklace and put it around her neck, staring down at the gold key with adornment. "I'm going to treasure this forever." Rachel chuckled as she sat down in the seat next to Marley, the two girls thinking to themselves before Marley turned her attention back to Rachel. "Remember when we first met, and that I was having a hard time even talking to you?"
"Yeah, and then Finn had to introduce the both of us," Rachel gave a sad smile at the mention of Finn, but Rachel decided to shake it off as Marley folded her hands. "That was one of the best moments that's happened, because I imagined if I never knew you. I would have seriously missed out on an amazing friend like you."
"I feel the same," Marley nodded her head. "I'm kind of nervous about going to Los Angeles. It's almost like I'm going to throw up just thinking about it. What if I don't fit in there? What if it's so hard and I fail to the point where I just want to come running back?"
"I don't see how you can possibly fail," Rachel nonchalantly waved her hand. "You took Lima by storm when you were in the New Directions. You moved to New York City and took NYADA by storm. And you took the music industry by storm. There's no challenge too big for Marley Rose, because I know she's going to conquer it all." Marley chuckled as she leaned her head on Rachel's shoulder, the two of them sitting in silence for a moment.
"Can you promise me something?" Marley wondered, Rachel staring at her with interest. "Can you promise that no matter how far apart we are, that we're going to still be friends, and be there for each other?"
"I don't know about us being friends," Rachel lightly chuckled. "But I can promise that we're still going to be family, no matter what. No matter how far we are, we're still going to be there for each other. Especially since we're going to be one phone call away."
"Good, I'd like that," Marley agreed, Rachel now thinking to herself.
"Now it's my turn to ask you something," Rachel said. "I know I have to go soon so I can get ready for the Tony Awards, but I was wondering if you wanted to sing with me one more time. And then after we sing together, I'm going to walk out of those auditorium doors and think that I'm going to see you in Glee Club tomorrow. That this isn't goodbye, and more of a 'see you tomorrow'." Marley got up from the bench as she held out her hand for Rachel, Rachel taking it and going to the middle of the auditorium stage with Marley.
"I would be honored to sing with you, Rachel," Marley said, squeezing Rachel's hand as the musicians in the background started playing a song that Marley and Rachel felt was perfect for each other.
{Rachel and Marley smile at each other as the music starts, with the both of them trying their hardest not to get emotional}
[Rachel]
I didn't know what you were going through
I thought that you were fine
Why did you have to hide?
[Marley]
I didn't wanna let you down
But the truth is out
It's tearing me apart, not listening to my heart
I really had to go
[Rachel]
And I would never stop you
[Marley]
Even though it changed
[Rachel]
Nothing has to change
[Marley and Rachel]
And you can find me in the space between
Where two worlds come to meet
I'll never be out of reach
Cause you're a part of me and you can find me in the space between
You'll never be alone
No matter where you go
We can meet in space between

Scene finally changes to Marley and Rachel staring at the pregnancy tests on the bathroom counter as they realize that they're both pregnant}
[Marley]
And nothing can stay the same
It's growing pains
[Rachel]
Be proud of all the scars
They make you who you are
I know you have to stay
[Marley]
But I'll never really leave you
[Rachel]
Nothing has to change
[Marley]
Even though we've changed
[Marley and Rachel]
And you can find me in the space between
Where two worlds come to meet
I'll never be out of reach
Cause you're a part of me so you can find me in the space between
You'll never be alone
No matter where you go
We can meet in space between
{Scene changes back to Rachel and Marley singing on the auditorium stage. They stare at each other as they feel tears come down their cheeks, realizing that this is the last time they're going to sing together for a long time}
[Marley]
There are no words left to say
[Rachel]
I know you gotta find your place
[Marley]
But this is not the end
[Rachel]
No, you're part of who I am
[Marley and Rachel]
Even if we're worlds apart
You're still in my heart, it will always be you and me, yeah!
[Rachel]
You can find me in the space between
[Marley and Rachel]
Where two worlds come to meet
[Rachel]
I'll never be out of reach (Marley: I'll never be out of reach)
[Marley and Rachel]
Cause you're a part of me so you can find me in the space between
[Rachel]
You'll never be alone
[Marley]
No matter where you go
[Marley and Rachel]
We can meet in space between (Marley: Yeah)
[Rachel]
No matter where you go
[Marley and Rachel]
We can meet in the space between
Rachel and Marley met in the middle of stage as the two of them engulfed one another in a hug, squeezing each other tightly and letting the tears flow. After a few moments, Rachel broke the hug and started going to the door. She turned around once more, staring at Marley on stage, trying her hardest not to break down.
"I'll see you later," Rachel choked out, eventually opening the door and closing it behind her. Marley watched as Rachel closed the door behind her, finally letting out a deep breath and sitting on the stage as she looked around with sadness.
"Rachel Berry has left the building," Marley muttered to herself before taking in the silence that was bestowed upon her.
Brittany laid back on the hospital bed as she looked around the room all while Santana flipped through the channels on the television. She was nervous about having to give birth to her and Santana's child, and just the mere thought of having to go into the unknown made Brittany a little worried.
"Santana?" Brittany looked over at her wife as Santana removed her eyes from the television. "This is going to sound pretty stupid, especailly coming from me but…I can't help but feel scared."
"Hey," Santana put the remote down and soothingly went to run a hand through Brittany's hair. "You don't have to be scared. I am going to be right here with you, no matter what, okay? And there is nothing that can ruin us getting closer to meeting our daughter."
"Santana?" A voice caused Santana to widen her eyes as Brittany raised an eyebrow at her.
"No freaking way," Santana cursed under her breath before turning her attention to the door. It was Brody, and he was surprised to see Santana and Brittany in one of the hospital rooms. "Brody?"
"What are you doing here?" Brittany asked before she widened her eyes, feeling another contraction come through ."Oh, here goes another one." Brittany took deep breaths while Santana rubbed Brittany's back, her eyes darting back to Brody as Brittany's contraction subsided.
"What the hell are you doing here?" Santana asked.
"Quinn's in labor," Brody mentioned. "What are you doing here?"
"Brittany is in labor," Santana pointed to the bed. "Do not tell me that Quinn and Brittany's babies are about to be born at the same time."
"It's looking like it," Brody innocently blinked, Santana letting out a groan as she turned towards her wife.
"Do you think you can hurry up the process and get the baby out?" Santana gave a pleading glance, but Brittany raised an eyebrow and placed a hand on her hip, Santana realizing that it probably wasn't the best thing to say. "Right, you're trying your best. Sorry."
"Think of it this way," Brittany looked at Santana as Brody innocently blinked as well. "The Unholy Trinity is starting together and ending together. It's a symbolic sisterhood."
"Well, I better get back to Quinn," Brody motioned with his thumb.
"You do that," Santana rolled her eyes as Brody decided to divert his attention to Brittany.
"You're going to do great, Brittany," Brody smiled at her. "I wish you the best of luck."
"Tell Quinn I wish her the best of luck too," Brittany smiled, Brody nodding his head and leaving the room. As Brody left, Santana turned her attention to Brittany, running her hand through her hair again. "I wish the baby would come out," Brittany groaned, Santana pressing a kiss to the top of Brittany's head.
"I know, babe," Santana reassured her. "But you're doing amazing, and we'll have our baby before you know it." Brittany had to admit she felt better that Santana was here coaching her through the labor process. She just didn't think it was going to be that painful. Still, she couldn't imagine doing this with anyone other than Santana, and for that sh was grateful.
Jessica sat at the kitchen table as she looked around the room, realizing that it was getting pretty empty. Everything had been packed and the movers were scheduled to come that evening so they could takee everything away, and Jessica had to admit she was feeling a bit down. She looked down at the ring on her finger and gave a smile, thinking how much had changed in her life, yet it was good. She was taken out of her thoughts when the door opened and Marley entered the apartment, Marley seeing Jessica sitting there while taking a sip of her coffee.
"Hey, what are you doing here?" Marley smiled as she walked over to the table. "I thought you would have been with Samantha or something."
"She ran out to get something for you and Puck before you guys left," Jessica nonchalantly shrugged her shoulders. "I wasn't supposed to tell you, but I think she'll be okay. Just remember to act surprised."
"I will do my best," Marley crossed her heart, seeing that Jessica was looking back down at her ring. "I remember when I first got engaged too. It was hard not looking at my engagement ring. In fact, I tried to do everything with my left hand just so I could show off my ring."
"I honestly, never thought that I would be engaged," Jessica said. "The ring is pretty, and I don't think I've taken mine off since getting it."
"It's probably going to be one of the most important pieces of jewlery that you're ever going to get from someone that loves you," Marley said. "The second one is the wedding ring. Which by the way, have you started planning the wedding yet?"
"I just got engaged yesterday," Jessica chuckled. "There's no rush. What, did you plan your wedding as soon as you got the ring?"
"Kinda," Marley laughed slightly. "Puck and I with Kurt and Isbaelle Wright's help planned a wedding in four months. It was stressful, but we made it work. Of course, you and Samantha have all the time in the world to plan. You don't have to do what Puck and I did."
"I think a year of planning would help," Jessica chuckled. "Maybe a little more. I know most people want everything to be perfect, but it's already going to be perfect because Samantha is going to be there. After all, my love for Samantha is the most important thing for such a special day."
"That is 100% true," Marley chuckled as she bit her lower lip, placing a hand on Jessica's shoulder. "I have a wedding gift for you, and I want to give it to you now if it's okay."
"Yeah, sure," Jessica nodded her head. Marley went into her pocket and had a set of keys on a ring, eventually going towards Jessica's hand and placing the ring of keys there. Jessica was confused by what Marley was doing, which caused her to look up and glance at her with interest. "What's this?"
"Well, Puck and I are going to Los Angeles with the kids, which means this apartment is going to be pretty empty," Marley looked around before her eyes went to Jessica. "How would you like to stay here?"
"What?" Jessica felt her throat tighten as she tried to stop herself from getting emotional. "You're…you're giving me your apartment?"
"When Puck and I first moved in, it just felt like an expensive apartment," Marley shrugged her shoulders. "To us, it always felt like something was missing. So when Puck brought you home that day, I finally realized what that something was. You were the person that made it feel like it was finally a home, because no matter what, you always appreciated the fact that Puck and I gave you somewhere to live.. You were the reason I knew I was cut out to be a mother, because taking care of you was the most rewarding thing I've ever done. I am so proud of you, Jessica. And I am so proud of the woman you've become. I couldn't think of a better gift to give you than the place where you felt the most at home. And, maybe once in a while when I come to New York, you'd open the door for me like I did for you?"
"For you and Puck, the door is always open," Jessica assured her, her eyes watering at Marley's speech. "I love you, Marley…and thank you."
"I love you too, sweetie," Marley gave Jessica a tight hug that Jessica gladly reciprocated, the two of them staying that way for a few moments. After they had parted the hug, Marley staring into Jessica's eyes with adornment. "Also, if you need anything for your wedding, do not hesitate to ask. My checkbook is also always open for you."
"Really? Cause there was this wedding dress I saw when I was browsing online this morning," Jessica slightly teased, but Marley rubbed Jessica's shoulders affectionately before giving her another hug.
"Consider it done," Marley said, Jessica giving Marley a tight squeeze in return.
"So how much longer do we have to wait until Brittany and Quinn give birth?" Sam mentioned as he sat in the waiting room with the rest of their friends. They had periodically went back to see how Quinn and Brittany were progressing, but unfortunately there hadn't been any news. Still, it seemed Sam was the most invested, which some of their friends had to admit was cute. "It's been like over 24 hours and still no baby."
"For first time mothers, it takes more than 24 hours to pop out a baby," Tina raised an eyebrow.
"Okay, so what's Quinn's excuse?" Sam added, Tina widening her eyes and getting the sudden urge to slap him.
"Anyway, Sam why are you so interested in Brittany and Santana's baby?" Kurt questioned, Sam shrugging his shoulders nonchalantly. "Last time I checked, Santana couldn't even stand you and you and Brittany had dating history like years ago."
"I mean, at the end of the day they're still my friends," Sam shrugged, but there was something on Artie's mind as he looked towards the rest of their friends.
"Hey, you know, Santana and Brittany never mentioned who the 'father' of the child technically is," Artie said. "Because we all know that they both can't have a baby with the same plumbing."
"Artie, it's not the father, it's literally a sperm donor," Kitty kept her fingers on her temple as she appeared bored. "The guy has no legal rights to the baby."
"And frankly, it's also none of our business," Mercedes added as her eyes went to the T.V. screen. "Look, it's the Tony Awards!"
"Why would we want to watch self-absorbed Broadway artists pretend to be shocked when they win?" Kitty rolled her eyes. "It makes no sense."
"Because," Mercedes kept her eyes on the screen as a small smile appeared on her face. "This could very well be Rachel's moment."
Rachel sat in the backseat of the limo that evening as she adjusted her dress, keeping her eyes on the sparkly white fabric so that she wouldn't have to think about Finn. There were so many changes that were happening at once, with one last change being Rachel attending the 2022 Tony Awards. She wished that she could have shared this moment with him. After all, Finn was there for majority of Rachel's milestones. But she felt empty that Finn was in Lima, Ohio, and Rachel was in New York City. She hadn't even spoken to Finn since he had left. She felt the limo slow down before the driver looked at the crowd, his eyes glancing back to Rachel as he gave her a small smile.
"Looks like a full house," The driver mentioned. "Are you ready?" Rachel adjusted her dress and nodded her head, deciding that she was going to make this her night.
"Ready as I'll ever be," Rachel opened the door to the limo as she slowly stepped out, making her way to the red carpet where everyone's eyes were on her. She felt the flashes of the camera, and heard the crowd cheer her name, prompting her to turn her attention to the crowd that was screaming for her. Rachel couldn't remember the last time that people cheered for her this way, and in ways she couldn't believe that this was her life. Rachel did her best to give a warm smile, posing for the camera as fans continued screaming her name. Once she made her way down the red carpet, she entered the theater, where she was greeted by none other than Jesse St. James and Jenny.
"I have to say, you looked like a pro," Jesse smiled, Rachel giving Jesse a warm grin and engulfing him in a hug. "All those teenage girls were eating you up."
"I'm nervous," Rachel admitted. "Can you tell I'm nervous? I mean, I say this because this is my first ever Tony Awards and I don't want to screw this up."
"Rachel," Jenny lightly chuckled while placing a hand on Rachel's shoulders. "There's no way that you screwed up out there. Just relax and have fun. That's all anyone wants from you."
"I did think that Finn would have been here with you though," Jesse replied, but the sudden mention of Finn made Rachel's smile falther.
"We don't talk about him," Jenny immediately stated, her eyes going back to Rachel.
"Is there a reason why?" Jesse innocently blinked, but to Jenny he wasn't getting the hint.
"Because he's like Bruno," Jenny raised an eyebrow towards her boyfriend. "We don't talk about him."
"Finn's an outcast Spanish uncle?" Jesse once again pondered, but Rachel decided to stop Jesse and Jenny before they started bickering.
"Guys, I know what you're doing," Rachel stated. "I'm glad that you want me to feel better, I really appreciate it. But I'm okay. I'm going to go in there and have the best time. I just hope that Finn is having just as much fun wherever he is. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go and take my seat. I'll see you both in there." With that, Rachel turned on her heels and made her way into the theater, Jenny flicking Jesse in the back of the head once Rachel was out of view.
"Good job," Jenny sighed, Jesse turning his attention to her. "You handled that well."
"I didn't know that we weren't supposed to talk about Finn," Jesse shrugged his shoulders. "I'm not CC'd into these things."
"You're lucky you're cute," Jenny playfully rolled her eyes before motioning for Jesse's hands. "Come on, let's go inside before the show starts." Jesse took Jenny's hand in his as the two of them went into the theater, the door closing behind them.
Rachel sat in her assigned seat as someone came around and offered Rachel a glass of champagne. She politely declined as the person continued making their rounds, before going to her phone and dialing a number. She placed the phone to her ear and gripped onto it tightly, hoping that she would be able to get to the person she was calling. Alas the phone went to voice mail, but Rachel was still determined to leave a message for the person before she had to focus.
"Hi, Finn? Um, it's Rachel," Rachel let out a shaky breath as she looked down at her hands. "I know I should be really upset with you considering that you up and left to Lima, Ohio. But the Tony Awards are tonight, and I want you to at least watch a little of it. I know it's not your cup of tea because it's Broadway. But…it would mean the world to me if you did. Also, our kids are with their grandpas in the audience, so maybe you'd might be able to spot them if you watch. This is my second chance at having a career in Broadway, Finn, and I want you to be a part of it, whether you're right next to me or you're elsewhere. I'm also going to be performing a number from the Celine Dion musical…I…I just wanted to let you know that, and that no matter what…my heart will go on. I hope to hear from you, Finn." Rachel hung up the phone and clutched it in her hands, not realizing that a producer was coming for her.
"Rachel? You're needed backstage. Your performance is in 20 minutes," The producer assured her, Rachel nodding her head and getting up from her chair. She slowly made her way backstage as everyone fiddled with her and made sure that she looked her absolute best. Still, she was thinking about her recent call to Finn, and she hoped that he was going to watch. She at least wanted to know if Finn still supported her.
"Ladies and gentlemen," The announcer said as Rachel cleared her throat. "Coming up next, Rachel Berry, the star of "That's The Way It Is: A Celine Dion Musical", will perform the smash hit 'My Heart Will Go On' for the first time on the Tony's stage!"
Rachel made her way to the front of the auditorium stage as the producers finished adjusting her dress, with the producer informing the camera man that it was time to come back to the televised event. Before the camera panned on Rachel, the announcer stood behind the podium and introduced the person that was going to introduce her to the crowd.
"Ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Rupert Campion," Everyone cheered as Rachel stared at the end of the stage, seeing Mr. Campion standing there while holding a few que cards.
"Thank you," Mr. Campion gave a smile to the camera before folding his hands together. "I have had the honor of watching our next performer grow from the moment she was on Funny Girl. And while her career hadn't panned out exactly as she had hoped to begin with, she made her triumphant return in Vienna, which I was in awe of. I knew she was a shining star, and I am proud to announce our next performer. From That's The Way It Is: A Celine Dion Musical, give it up for Rachel Berry!" Mr. Campion turned his attention to Rachel as everyone started clapping their hands. Rachel held the microphone close to her as everyone had her undivided attention, causing her to close her eyes and sing from her heart.
{The music of 'My Heart Will Go On' starts as Rachel starts singing, everyone appearing moved by Rachel's voice}
[Rachel]
Every night in my dreams
I see you, I feel you
That is how I know you go on
Far across the distance
And spaces between us
You have come to show you go on
Near, far, wherever you are
I believe the heart does go on
Once more, you open the door
And you're here in my heart
And my heart will go on and on
Love can touch us one time
And last for a lifetime
And never let go, till we're gone
Love was when I loved you
One true time I'd hold to
In my life we'll always go on
Near, far, wherever you are
I believe the heart does go on (why does the heart go on?)
Once more you open the door
And you're here in my heart
And my heart will go on and on
{Rachel listens to the instrumental whent the drums hit, she takes the microphone off the podium and starts belting, everyone clapping their hands widely as Rachel belts the final chorus}
You're here, there's nothing I fear
And I know my heart will go on
We'll stay forever this way
You are safe in my heart
And my heart will go on and on
Everyone stood up from their seats as Rachel finished singing, her eyes watering as she realized everyone loved her. She gave a thank you before getting off the stage, but she felt that she needed some air. She knew they were going to announce the award for Best Actress in a Broadway musical, but Rachel needed to relax her nerves a bit. She went into the hallway of the theater and collected her breath, all while realizing her hands were shaking.
"I always knew you were one of the most unique talents of the world," A voice said behind Rachel, which caused her breathing to stop for a minute.
It couldn't be, Rachel thought to herself as she slowly turned around. Standing there in a suit and tie, was Finn. Rachel stammered for a moment, trying to collect her thoughts before finally clearing her throat.
"Finn?" Rachel tucked her hair behind her ears while looking at him with interest. "What...what are you doing here?" Finn walked over to Rachel and stared at her with a grin, taking her hand and firmly grasping it in the process.
"I went back to Lima, like I said I would," Finn admitted. "And as interested as I was in taking over the New Directions next year, there was something missing. I realized, I outgrew Lima, Ohio…but there was something else. There was something missing."
"Finn," Rachel stared at Finn with interest as he continued glancing into her eyes. "What are you trying to say?"
"What I am trying to say is…I'm home." Finn simply said, Rachel gazing into Finn's eyes as a smile came to her face. "Home isn't some place. Home is someone. And for me…home is you. And I hate that I had to go through all of that to realize that you're my home. You've always been, and always will be. I can teach anywhere. I only get to support my amazing wife once. Do you think you could ever forgive me?" Rachel stared at Finn as she leaned up and kissed him, Finn bringing passion to the kiss and holding her tightly. Rachel finally parted the kiss and felt her eyes water, unbelieving that her husband was back where he belonged.
"Forever and always," Rachel squeezed Finn's hand with adornment. "I know that you needed to find yourself. But I'm glad that your journey led you back to me because I can't picture my life with anyone other than you." Finn gave Rachel another kiss while Rachel pulled Finn closer, a smile tugging on both of their lips. Eventually, Rachel felt the light blinking, which meant that they were about to announce the next category. And now, she was glad that Finn was there, so that she could share the rest of this experience with him. "Come on, we should get back in there." Finn nodded his head and followed Rachel into the theater as the two of them took their seats. Jesse and Jenny watched as Finn had entered the room, with Jenny giving Rachel a smile and Jesse giving Finn a grin. Finn took his seat next to Rachel while the announcer went to the stage.
"Over the course of the last year, we've seen these five talented actresses give it their all, but only one can win the Tony for Best Actress in a Lead Production. The nominees are…Sara Barellies in Waitress, Julia Lester in Into The Woods, Elizabeth Teeter in Beetlejuice, Rachel Berry in Vienna and Julie Benko in Funny Girl. And the Tony goes to…" The man opened the envelope and looked down, finally looking up and pointing to the crowd. "RACHEL BERRY IN VIENNA!" Rachel widened her eyes as applause exploded from the theater, Rachel eventually turning to Finn and becoming emotional. Everything she had worked for had finally paid off. She was officially a Tony winner. Rachel kissed Finn passionately before getting up from her spot and heading to the front of the stage. She reached the front podium and took the Tony from the presenter, giving him a polite hug before adjusting the microphone.
"I, I honestly don't know what to say," For the first time in Rachel's life, she was speechless. But of course she had a speech prepared. "Ever since I was a little girl, I had dreamed of this moment. All the endless tap lessons, the singing lessons, show choir, it all led here. First of all, I want to thank my dads for believing in me and my talent by funding all the lessons. I want to thank my Glee Club teacher Mr. William Schuester for believing in my talent. But most importantly, I want to thank my husband, Finn. Without him, I wouldn't be standing here today. He supported me through my darkest days, and I would have given up if it weren't for him egging me on. So Finn, this Tony is for us. Because we did this together. This whole time, i thought that being apart of something special made you special. But it doesn't. Something is special because you are apart of it. And I am so blessed that I was apart of something so amazing. Thank you." Rachel raised the Tony as everyone clapped their hands, while taking in the cheers for her.
As Rachel made her way back to her seat, she saw Finn was trying his hardest not to be on the phone, but he was, which made Rachel raise an eyebrow towards him. He was normally more attentive, so it had to have been something important. As soon as Finn hung up the phone, his eyes darted to Rachel, almost saddened that they were going to have to cut their Tony experience short.
"Hey, we have to go," Finn slightly whispered.
"Why, what's going on?" Rachel asked.
"It's Quinn and Brittany," Finn mentioned, Rachel widening her eyes. "We have to go now."
"Yeah, of course," Rachel nodded her head as she and Finn snuck out so that they could head to the hospital.
Finn and Rachel ran through the hospital as they tried to find the waiting room where all of their friends were, but when they saw the Tony in Rachel's hands, they clapped for her, which caused Rachel to look down bashfully and tucking her hair behind her ears.
"We knew you'd get it," Tina said.
"Congratualtions," Mercedes got up from her chair and hugged Rachel tightly. After she parted her hug from Rachel, she stared at Finn and pointed a finger at him with seriousness. "Make Rachel lose her mind again and I will lock you in a portapotty."
"Got it,' Finn simply said. "So, what's going on?"
"Quinn and Brittany had their babies. For some reason, Santana and Britany asked for Sam first," Tina revealed. "And Quinn had asked for you, Rachel."
"She did?" Rachel looked around, seeing that Finn had took the Tony gently from Rachel and ushered her to go to Quinn's room.
"Go, go," Finn assured her. Rachel nodded her head and started making her way to Quinn's room. When she arrived, she spotted Quinn and Brody holding their baby, and almost felt that she was intruding on Brody and Quinn's moment. Quinn looked up from her baby and gave Rachel a grin, motioning for Rachel to come over.
"Rachel, come here," Quinn beamed, Rachel walking over and staring at the little baby in Quinn's arms. "There's someone I want you to meet."
"Rachel, we want you to meet Elizabeth Rachel Weston," Brody added, Rachel looking at Elizabeth and realizing that Quinn had named the baby after her.
"Quinn…," Rachel stared at her friend with adornment. "You named your baby after me?"
"Yeah, I did," Quinn nodded her head. "Because, whenever I needed someone, you were there for me. And through everything we've been through, you're one of my best friends, and I couldn't be any more grateful for you. And before you ask, Brody agreed that naming Elizabeth after you was fine."
"Wow," Rachel looked from Brody and Quinn before nodding her head with a smile. "I am so grateful that you bestowed that honor on me Quinn. And you are one of my best friends too. Thank you." Rachel hugged Quinn to the best of her ability before Brody motioned towards Elizabeth.
"Do you want to hold her?" Brody questioned, Rachel immediately nodding her head. Quinn slowly handed Elizabeth to Rachel as she looked down at the tiny baby. She could tell Elizabeth was going to look exactly like Quinn.
"Hi little one," Rachel whispered. "Welcome to the world. I just want you to know that you have two of the best parents in the world. And they're going to make sure that you're well taken care of." Quinn and Brody smiled at each other as Quinn leaned her head on Brody's shoulder, watching Rachel bond with their daughter. Quinn and Brody knew they were ready for their next adventure as parents, and they were lucky to have such a tight knit family supporting them.
Sam walked over to the room where Brittany and Santana were, looking around before deciding to knock on the door. After a few moments, the door opened, and Santana was on the other end, giving Sam a warm smile. It wasn't something Sam was used to seeing from Santana, but he knew that Santana was on Cloud 9 at the moment.
"Hey, come in," Santana motioned. Sam came in and saw Brittany holding a blanket with a baby in it, Sam turning his attention to the child. "That's her."
"Wow," Sam walked over and saw the baby crinkling her nose at him, with Sam staring at Brittany with a smile. "What's her name?"
"Sam, I want you to meet Isabella Lopez-Pierce," Brittany showed Sam the baby as he gave Brittany a warm smile. "She's eight pounds, and she's perfect."
"She really is," Sam nodded his head as Brittany pressed a chaste kiss to the top of Isabella's head. "No one deserves this more than the both of you. Congratulations." Brittany gave a thankful smile but before Sam could say more, there was a knock on the door, which Santana turned to see Artie, Mercedes, Mike and Tina.
"Oh my god, is that her?" Mercedes gushed as Santana motioned for Mercedes to go see her. As everyone went to see Isabella, Santana motioned for Sam to come to her, which gave him indication that Santana wanted to talk to him.
"I just wanted to say….thank you," Santana simply said, Sam giving Santana a warm smile in return.
"You're welcome," Sam hugged Santana tightly as Santana reciprocated it. After a moment, the two of them parted the hug and looked over at Brittany showing Isabella her new extended family, and Santana couldn't help but feel her heart swell up with pride.
She finally had everything she ever wanted.
The next morning, Marley and Puck sat in the empty living room, glancing around as they waited for their final guests before making their way to Los Angeles. They didn't have to sit in silence for long as they heard a knock on the door, causing Marley to go get it and see Finn and Rachel on the other end. Marley simply went to hug her brother, giving him a tight squeeze before letting them in the apartment. Finn looked around and realized it was empty, which he wasn't used to.
"Wow, this is something I've never thought I'd see," Finn innocently blinked, his eyes darting over to Marley and Puck with a chuckle. "The apartment is empty."
"Well, yeah," Puck chuckled, Finn chuckling in return. "All of our stuff is in Los Angeles."
"And Charlotte and Jaxon?" Rachel wondered.
"With Marley's mom in Los Angeles already," Puck added, Finn and Rachel turning their attention to Marley who was standing by the kitchen island. "It's just us two heading out there now."
"I'd never thought that the day would come that we'd have to say goodbye," Rachel admitted, Marley turning to Finn and Rachel while shaking her head.
"I don't see it as goodbye," Marley said. "It's more of a 'I'll see you later'. Besides, you and Finn are welcome in Los Angeles whenever you want."
"I'll take you up on your offer," Finn smirked as Marley and Puck lightly chuckled. After a few moments, they stopped laughing, and there was a deafening silence. One that they weren't used to. "Is it okay if I say something?"
"Nothing is stopping you," Puck nonchalantly shrugged.
"Okay, well, first of all, I guess I wanted to say that I'm gonna miss you guys. You both made things really interesting for me when we all lived with each other, so it's going to be hard to comprehend that you don't actually live in the same state as us," Finn cleared his throat. "I...Ilso want to thank the both of you for everything you've done for me. Even when I thought I didn't want your help. As much as Rachel was responsible for helping me grow as a person, you both were just as responsible, and I don't know how I got so lucky. It was nice having you two as my quarterback's once in a while."
"I learned from the best," Puck responded. "We also feel like we should thank you too, Finn. Without you, we wouldn't be happy together. Even if you were hardheaded about it at first. We appreciate everything you've done for us too. Thank you for being my quarterback, bro. I couldn't have survived New York without you." Finn immediately pulled Puck into a hug as the two of them held on tightly, all while Marley and Rachel leaned their heads on each other. After a few moments, Puck and Finn parted the hug and Puck went into his pocket, holding the key that was in his pocket. He took it off the key ring and placed it on the empty table, while staring back at Finn, Marley and Rachel. "Marley? Are you ready?"
"I'm ready," Marley nodded her head while giving her husband a smile, the four of them going towards the door and Finn opening it.
"You know, there's one place that I think we should go before we take you to the airport," Finn said, Marley and Puck knowing exactly where Finn was hinting at. "Shall we?"
"We shall," Rachel chuckled as the four of them exited the apartment, and Finn slowly closed the door behind him.
{Scene changes to NYADA as the Glee band plays a song and Marley stands on the stage by herself with everyone wearing a variation of red and white as she feels her tears forming in her eyes}
[Marley]
I said, "Remember this moment"
In the back of my mind
The time we stood with our shaking hands
The crowds in the stands went wild
{Scene shows Santana, Quinn and Brittany walking down the auditorium stage, holding each other's hands}
[Santana]
We were the kings and the queens
As they read off our names
The night you danced like you knew our lives would never be the same
[Brittany]
You held your hand like a hero
On a history book page
It was the end of a decade
But the start of an age
{Brittany, Santana and Quinn join Marley on the stage as they hug each other and sing with tears in their eyes}
[Brittany, Marley and Santana]
Long live the walls that crashed through
How the kingdom lights shined just for me and you
I was screaming, "long live all the magic we made"
And bring on all the pretenders
One day
[Marley]
We will be remembered
{Rachel, Finn and Puck come from the other side of the stage with Tina, Artie and Mike joining them and everyone starts hugging each other}
[Rachel]
I said, "Remember this feeling"
I passed the pictures around
Of all the years we stood there on the sidelines
Wishing for right now
[Artie and Quinn]
We are the kings and the queens
You traded your baseball cap for a crown
[Finn and Rachel]
When they gave us our trophies
And we held them up for our town
{Blaine, Kurt, Mercedes and Sam come from the opposite side of the stage as Blaine and Kurt hold hands}
[Blaine and Kurt]
And the cynics were outraged
Screaming, "this is absurd"
[Blaine, Finn, Kurt and Rachel]
Cause for a moment a band of thieves
In ripped up jeans got to rule the world
[Mercedes and Rachel]
Long live the walls that crashed through
How the kingdom lights shined just for me and you
I was screaming, "long live all the magic we made"
And bring on all the pretenders, I'm not afraid
[Artie and Tina]
Long live all the mountains we moved
I had the time of my life fighting dragons with you
I was screaming, "long live, that look on your face"
And bring on all the pretenders
One day
[Tina]
We will be remembered
{The door opens and the adults (Burt, Carole, Gina, Mr. Schuester, Sue Sylvester, Ms. Pillsbury, Coach Bieste, Jesse) Millie, Hiram, LeRoy, Cassandra, Jessica, Samantha, Dani, Elliott, Scott, Anna, Oliver and Lindsay), current NYADA students (Stephanie, Boone, Harry, Emilina, Theodore, Kat, Melanie, Courtney, Cassidy, Marcus and Brian), former New Directions students (Jake, Madison, Unique, Joe, Sugar, Rory, Harmony, Kitty, Jane, Spencer, Roderick, and Mason), and former NYADA Glee Club students (Brody, Sebastian, Jenny, Sydney, Luke, Celina, Simone, Garrett, Dustin and Melissa) come into the room wearing red and white}
[Brittany, Quinn and Santana]
Hold on to spinning around
Confetti falls to the ground
May these memories break our fall
{Marley and Rachel hold onto Finn and Puck's hands as the girls look at their husbands with adoring glances}
[Marley]
Will you take a moment?
Promise me this
That you'll stand by me forever
But if God forbid fate should step in
[Rachel]
And force us into a goodbye
If you have children someday
When they point to the pictures
Please tell them my name
[Marley and Rachel]
Tell them how (with Finn and Puck: the crowd went wild)
Tell them how (with Finn and Puck: I hope they shine)
[Marley]
Long live, the walls that crashed through
I had the time of my life (with Puck: with you)
{Everyone heads on the stage and starts hugging one another as everyone gets teary eyed}
[Finn and Rachel]
Long, long live the walls that crashed through
How the kingdom lights shined just for me and you
[Marley and Puck]
And I was screaming, "long live all the magic we made"
And bring on all the pretenders, I'm not afraid
[Brittany and Santana]
Singing long live all the mountains we moved
I had the time of my life fighting dragons with you
{Everyone lines up on the stage as they look out at the empty auditorium stage, all of them trying not to get emotional}
[Blaine and Kurt]
And long, long live that look on your face
And bring on all the pretenders
One day
[Marley and Rachel]
We will be remembered
{Everyone cheers and hugs one another as the screen goes black as the episode and the series ends}
