Chapter Text
i held his lifeless body in my arms. he sobbed, i couldn't do anything. i screamed at the world, the world that took away my best friend, my first love, my only love.
i always imagined i was the one who would go. i wanted to be the one who went.
but he decided that he wanted to, and he did it.
the others tried ripping me away from him, i couldn't. i held onto him with my life. his final words to me, i'll never forget, i couldn't ever forget.
"i love you, my cleric."
he held my cheek for a moment, and he closed his eyes. he went limp.
i sobbed, and sobbed.
i wouldn't leave, i couldn't. i was the one who lived, and mike hadn't.
we had a funeral for him a few days later.
i want to see him again so badly, but he's gone. and i can't do anything about it.
jonathan and i sat beside the wheeler family, letting my tears fall, my family was in the row behind. jonathan was sat with nancy, who was wiping away her tears, mike's mom was with my mom sobbing in her arms, and his dad was nowhere to be seen. he was gone.
i had heard a few days earlier, when mike's parents were informed of his death, mike's mom had finally left his dad.
i couldn't stop crying during the funeral, and even when we were driving back to the house.
i fell into my mom's arms, and she held me tight, as if i was slipping away.
i was slipping away. i was slipping away and had no one to hold me. not anymore.
