Chapter Text

It was late in the afternoon. Sayaka was still working on the perfect gift for the president. Her hands were sore and her tight side ponytail was slipping out scarcely. The president was going to leave soon, so she had to finish quickly. Although she did have to pick up some paper she printed out earlier. Sayaka sighed and stood up to retrieve the documents. She was sure no one was still here except some council members, and none of them entered this particular time. Usually. Because when Sayaka returned, her present had disappeared.

“W-what..?” Sayaka muttered under her breath, now covering her mouth in shock. She peered over the room, but no one seemed to be there. Her hands now rested at her sides, shaking and balling into fists. Who could have stolen it, and why? The purple-haired girl frowned deeply and tried to hold herself together. What could she give to the president now? The girl couldn’t take this. She needed to calm down somehow. She settled on reading a book in the library to allay herself.

Sayaka swiftly opened the door once more and walked to the library. She hoped she wouldn’t run into the president. It would be quite embarrassing to have nothing for her to show. What would she think of her now? It was unlike Sayaka to ignore her duties. She decided to finish her remaining work later. For now, all she could focus on was reading a book.

One of the perks of being the secretary of the student council was having access to almost all rooms after school ended. Sayaka arrived at the library and sighed in relief, smelling the refreshing scent of old books and coffee. She slid the current book she was reading out of the president’s special shelf and sat down. Being the student council president, Kirari could pretty much have most things she desired, including her bookshelf. She was thankful the president let her store her books on the shelf too. Sayaka noticed over time that the president did read often, despite having such a heavy responsibility attached to her role.

Sayaka stopped running through her thoughts and started reading, taking the bookmark out of her current page. She smiled, feeling relaxed.

**Time skip by about half an hour**

Sayaka read intensely, hanging on to the last word of each paragraph. She hadn’t even noticed Kirari walking in until she was standing at her feet. Sayaka’s eyes widened as she glanced up from her book and met the president’s eyes. Something about her eyes seemed confused.

“P-President! When did you get here?” Sayaka mentally slapped herself for such an insolent response. Kirari raised an eyebrow.

“Only a minute ago, did you not hear me saying your name?” The secretary scratched the back of her neck nervously breaking eye contact. It was unusual for Sayaka to not be so alert.

“I’m so sorry, President, I must have been too indulged in my book,” Sayaka replied apologetically. Kirari smiled gently and knelt to meet the height of the chair Sayaka was sitting in. Sayaka leaned forward subconsciously; her posture now being slightly inconvenient.

“It’s okay, dear, don’t worry about it,” Kirari said sweetly. Sayaka looked down to avoid meeting her gaze, her face slowly heating up. She glanced back up to notice the president hesitating.

“Is something wrong, President?” Sayaka asked, her voice coated with slight concern. Kirari’s smile returned as she shook her head. Kirari then took out a small note from her pocket and unfolded it. Sayaka’s throat dried up as fear nestled into her body.

“I found this in the trashcan. Did you mean to throw it away?” Sayaka opened and closed her mouth. What could she possibly say? More importantly, how did she find it? Kirari tipped her head curiously.

“Sayaka?” Her angelic voice looping around her head was too much for the dark-haired girl to handle right now. She slowly covered her face with her hands, unable to look her president in the eye. Kirari chuckled lightly, though Sayaka could not see her expression.

“Y-yes, but, I’m guessing you already r-read it?” Sayaka squeaked out from behind her palms. She heard Kirari murmur that she was correct. It wasn’t a secret how she felt about the president. Sayaka was only embarrassed because she was sure that Kirari would find it not suitable for someone of such a high power as her. Kirari sighed gingerly and placed her hands to cover Sayaka’s wrists. She delicately removed the other girl’s hands from her face. Sayaka nervously looked into the once icy blue eyes, but they now seemed to engulf a comforting feeling.

“Why? It intrigues me, Sa-ya-ka,” Kirari said. She quietly stepped forward and sat on Sayaka’s lap. Her legs relaxed on both sides of Sayaka, trapping her. Sayaka blushed deeply and was about to protest, but Kirari shifted her forehead to rest on hers. Why did she suddenly get so close? She could feel the president’s steady breath on her face. Her hands were still connected with Sayaka’s, resting on the silver-haired girl’s lap. The warm heat emitting from Kirari’s hands made Sayaka just about melt into her touch. Their eyes were locked into eye contact.

“I enjoyed reading every word of it,” Kirari said in an alluring manner. Sayaka could only feel her face getting more searing as she tried to stutter something out. The president chuckled at how flustered she could make her secretary. Sayaka was getting impatient.

“Please, President, tell me how you feel,” she said on the verge of tears. Her overwhelmed voice caused Kirari’s eyes to dilate in a brief shock. She wasn’t expecting Sayaka to be so desperate. Was this how she made her feel?

“Let me be more clear then.” Kirari gradually moved her face closer. By now, you could say Sayaka was the shade of a lobster. How had this escalated so quickly?!

Sayaka’s eyes fluttered close as a soft kiss was planted on her lips. A flurry of emotions ran through Sayaka, as she could not comprehend that in a span of five minutes, the president was kissing her and was sitting on her lap. Kirari’s hands were now cupping Sayaka’s face. The secretary bit back a whimper as the president released her from dream-like heaven. Hot tears ran down Sayaka’s face. But they weren’t tears of sorrow, but rather, of immense glee. Kirari wiped her tears away with her delicate thumb.

“Dear, don’t cry,” said the silver-haired girl tenderly. Sayaka truly realized it now. The president cared deeply for her. She was safe in the comfort of Kirari. Sayaka smiled softly.

“President, my feelings remain constant,” Sayaka spoke in a completely raw manner, fully conveying how she felt.

“I’m aware, and I feel the same way.”

**The next day**

Sayaka, the secretary of the cherished president, walked through the crowded hallways of Hyakkaou Academy. It was the day after the president and Sayaka had fully confided their love for each other. Sayaka couldn’t be more joyous. Her spirited walk got sent a couple of weird looks, but she couldn’t care less. The impossible, now possible, had happened to her!

The dark-haired girl knocked on the door for permission to enter the student council room. A soft voice allowed her entry. As Sayaka opened the door carefully and closed it behind her, she was met with the president as she turned around. A kind smile was spread across her face. She strode forward and wrapped Sayaka in a hug. A soft sigh emerged from the president as she nestled into the crook of her secretary's neck. Sayaka slowly encased her arms around her, grinning happily. A light blush appeared to cover both of their faces. After about a minute of complete bliss, Kirari let go of Sayaka and took a small step back.

“Good morning, Sayaka,” she said in a rather cheerful tone. Sayaka was starting to get used to the now full-of-emotions Kirari who was only shown towards her.

“Good morning, President!” she spoke in return with an enthusiastic manner. Kirari smiled genuinely and cleared her throat, wanting to say something.

“Will you be my valentine, Sa-ya-ka?” The president said with an emphasis on the syllables of her name. Sayaka smiled ear to ear, cupping her own cheek with her hand while giggling happily.

“Yes, President!” Sayaka said delightfully, “Although it is a day late to ask,” she added playfully. Kirari grinned light-heartedly at her secretary.

“Is that a problem?” The secretary shook her head, unable to contain her excitement. Everything she had secretly desired was now a reality. Kirari stepped forward and raised her hands to hold Sayaka’s face. Her velvety expression made the purple-haired girl feel comforted.

“May I kiss you?” The president asked while soothingly rubbing her thumb across Sayaka’s face. Sayaka couldn’t help but be a little shocked. This was all so new. She gently grabbed Kirari’s arms and held onto them.

“O-Of course,” she replied with a nervous smile. The silver-haired girl leaned in and closed the gap between the two. The moment that Kirari’s lips met hers, Sayaka was filled with an instant warmth. Anything that bothered her before simply vanished. Her president seemed to be relatively gentle and did not kiss her too roughly. Sayaka abruptly broke their contact, gasping and shying away. Kiari’s eyebrows furrowed in slight concern.

“Are you alright, dear? Was that too much for you?” Kirari took hold of Sayaka’s hands and caressed them lightly. “I tried to be gentle so I wouldn’t make you uncomfortable,” she continued. Sayaka’s cheeks became rosy.

“It’s okay, I just needed to breathe, please don't worry President,” Sayaka replied with a small smile. She turned away nervously, not wanting to make eye contact. She saw Kirari quietly sigh of relief out of the corner of her eye.

“Please, darling, you can call me Kirari when we’re alone,” she said squeezing Sayaka’s hands softly. Sayaka bit the bottom of her lip and nodded, turning back to her. These pet names were driving her crazy.

Suddenly, the door flew open, and in walked Midari and Runa. They both quickly noticed Kirari and Sayaka while they were chatting. Runa smirked at Midari mischievously. Sayaka’s face quickly turned neutral as she swiveled her head to face the two.

“What’s so funny?” Sayaka asked. They both stopped conversing and glanced at Sayaka. They looked down at their conjoined hands then back at them. Runa's grin widened and she yelled,

“CALLED IT!” The short girl ran around the room with a lollipop in hand. Midari grumbled some incoherent words but smiled slightly. Sayaka quickly realized they witnessed their hands held together and became embarrassed. Kirari chuckled while watching Runa sprint around excitedly. Sayaka sighed and rolled her eyes. Since when did they care about her and the president’s personal affairs?

“It’s alright Sayaka, it truly doesn’t matter what they say,” Kirari said. Sayaka looked at Kirari with surprise. She thought she would have responded differently to the situation. She figured she should stop expecting the president to act how she used to be. Sayaka decided she was thoroughly too tired from the exhilaration of emotions to care and leaned onto the president’s arm, gripping lightly. Kirari patted her head lovingly.

The day continued normally, except for one thing. Sayaka Igarashi and Kirari Momobami were now something more. The love that surrounded them was unbreakable.

Sayaka knew that now, and Kirari did too.
