Chapter Text
Mike woke up to the sweet smell of breakfast and the feeling of the warm sun against his face. He reached to the other side of the bed and whined when he found it empty. Mike grumbled as he forced himself out of bed, stepping easily into his fluffy slippers and dragging himself towards the sound of pans and various cooking utensils downstairs.
Mike finally reached the kitchen, where Will was focused on cooking what seemed like pancakes. He walked over to his boyfriend who, still focused on the pancakes, had yet to notice him, and wrapped his arms against his waist, resting his chin on top of Will’s head. The latter jumped, only now noticing his boyfriend and laughed softly upon realization.
“Honey, I love you, but I need to cook, and you’re kind of limiting my movements.” Mike just groaned in reply, keeping his eyes closed.
Mike was, by all accounts, definitely not a morning person. Will turned his body sideways to kiss him on the cheek and shooed him away to get back to his pancakes.
“So mean,” Mike mumbled as he sat down on his chair. Mike 2, who was given to them by the manager of Furry Friends Café when Will left, jumped on his lap and made himself comfortable. Mike pet him silently.
“I made you coffee,” said Will, pointing with his chin towards a still hot cup of black coffee. Mike had told him, the first few months after they started dating, about his secret hatred for black coffee. Will had laughed and apologized for the amount of black coffee he had indirectly forced Mike to drink, but, curiously, Mike had kept ordering and drinking black coffee after that, growing used to the taste and telling Will it ‘reminded him of their first meetings’. Will had rolled his eyes and called him a sap, but couldn’t hide his smile and faint blush.
Mike took the coffee Will had made him and drank slowly as Will attended to his pancakes.
Mike had moved in about 3 months ago, 2 years in their relationship. He was now in his final year of college. Will had graduated last year, and had begun a master’s degree in art therapy. Mike was content with life as it was right now, and he couldn’t help but smile at the boy in front of him.
“Pancakes are cooked!” Will placed the plate of hot pancakes onto the table and Mike sat up to kiss him gently as he passed by. Will laughed sweetly into the kiss. Yeah, Mike was really happy with life right now.
