Jean held the funeral as Acting Grand Master at the Dawn Winery, Varka was still away so he couldn’t come but they sent him a letter to advise him.
Everyone who knew Kaeya showed up:
Lisa, Albedo, Mika, Aether, Paimon, Sucrose, Eula, Amber, Noelle, Barbara, Rosaria, the maids from the Dawn Winery, Bennett, Venti, Razor, and most importantly Klee.
Some were crying, some were shocked but she was just confused.
She went near Diluc and whispered: “Master Diluc… why is everyone here except Mr. Kaeya? And why is everyone sad?”
Diluc was forcing himself not to cry when he looked at the innocent eyes of the Spark Knight.
“You see Klee… he went far, far away for a very important mission… he won’t come back for a long time.” Diluc was bad at lying, his brother was better than him at that.
“B-But why? He didn’t say goodbye to Klee!” She looked on the verge of tears.
Luckily Albedo was next to Klee and said forcing a smile:
“It’s a secret mission Klee, he had to go to save Mondstat. He went away to protect you.”
“Y-Yeah. And he left something for you as a goodbye gift.” Added Diluc taking something from his pockets. It was his eye patch.
“He wanted you to have it to play pirates.”
Klee received the gift and made a big smile.
“Wow! I love this!! When Kaeya comes back I will thank him! No no, I will send him a letter!”
“That’s wonderful Klee.” said the weird grown-up, as Klee liked to call him.
After the funeral, Diluc asked Bennett to meet him in private.
Bennett still wiping his tears entered the room.
“I’m here Master Diluc… how can-“
He looked at the desk. Kaeya’s shining sword was laying there.
“He wanted you to have it. He thought this sword fits your abilities.”
“What? I can’t accept this! This is Kaeya’s I-“
Diluc reached him and put and hand on his shoulder.
“He knew you would have reacted this way so he also wrote to say to you that you can even use it as furniture if you want but still, he wanted you to have it.”
The boy sniffed and hugged Diluc tightly. The man unsurely hugged him back.
“Okay. I’ll take it. I hope my bad luck doesn’t ruin everything.” muttered Bennett.

A few months passed.
Everyone seemed to have moved on, well everyone except Diluc.
He visited his grave often, it was located under a tree near the Dawn vinery, where they grew up.
On the tombstone it was engraved:
Kaeya Ragnvindr
beloved Cavalry Captain, friend, and brother.
Diluc kept Kaeya’s now empty vision, that he obtained fighting him. He probably would have killed him that night if his brother didn’t receive his vision.
One morning he was visiting him as usual, talking to him like he was still there.
That morning Jean passed by.
“Good morning Diluc.” she said smiling.
The man turned.
“Good morning Jean, what brings you here?”
“I have a proposal for you.”
Their eyes met.
“What kind?”
“I know you have left the knights many years ago, It’s understandable. But I think you could take Kaeya’s position as Cavalry Captain.”
Diluc closed his eyes to think.
Kaeya’s will also asked him to get back into the knights. He wasn’t really happy about that but after a second thought, he replied to the woman.
“At one condition.”
“What is it?”
“We must find and destroy the Abyss. I want that Abyss princess dead. I’ll avenge him. I don’t care how long it will take, promise me that you will fully support my decision.”
Jean sighed and nodded.
“Granted. Welcome Back, Captain Diluc.”
It started raining.
“Cryo is always far more effective in the rain”
