Resonating Truth

Chapter 5: Desolate Feels

Summary:

emu needs tissues

Chapter Text

With the two of them sitting on this old , plucking bench like this made Tsukasa realise how awkward this was as Emu uncontrollably cried into her arms, trying to comfort her with the best words he could manage. He was trying, but it wasn’t going well for either of them. His words came to a stop, and the star side of Tsukasa had already left as he started to speak.

“Emu, you can tell me what’s going on, you know.” His voice was cold and serious , which made Emu slightly jump as his voice wasn’t loud enough to wake up the entire city. She looked up, and his shiny star smile had suddenly faded into a less fake one. Tsukasa’s dull eyes drifted over to her, which made Emu realise she was talking to Tsukasa, not the leader of the troupe who was destined to be a shining world famous star.

It was another awkward moment of glistening stars in the twinkling night sky and crickets chirping in between their eye contact exchange. The point had definitely gotten across , for Emu was in awe. For one of the first times, Tsukasa , not the star Tsukasa, had triggered himself. It was rather that Tsukasa had forgotten about not having such a high ego that he was always like that, but he had remembered it on his own because he cared about Emu.

She wiped her tears thoughtfully before sniffling up again and they both exchanged awkward coughs into their sleeves. Tsukasa hunched over , trying to start a conversation.

“Talk to me, Emu. You know I care.” At this point, Emu’s nerves tingled with tension because all the words she wanted to say had dug a deep whole and covered itself in dirt, suffocating in its own embarrassment. She curled and wanted to dig a hole for herself too, but she couldn’t run away from this. She would have to toughen up and stop being childish like her brother called her. Otherwise , how would she succeed in fixing this entire issue overall?

She huffed before speaking slowly and quietly, timid and afraid. It was at this point that Tsukasa was listening intently to whatever she had to say, his dull eyes focusing intensley on hers with good intention. Her issue was affecting her insanely, so much that she had left early and broken down in Nonogi because of it.

When she had finished, she turned and looked away to the other side of the bench in denial of what she had just blindly ranted to Tsukasa.  She constantly always wondered about this puzzling, serious and quite charming side of Tsukasa, and now he was up close, comforting her about her silly little personal family issues she probably shouldn’t be telling him, but all that matters was that she trusted him and that he would listen right now.

He wasn’t sure what to say at this point. It felt  like he was walking on eggshells here , that whatever he said could send her back into tears falling from her rosy , swollen cheeks. The best he wanted to do was to comfort her and make her feel safe and alright. They say together, and Enu finally spoke up after she had calmed down.

”I didn’t mean for this to happen, where did I go wrong..?”

She almost cracked at the end of her sentence, not wanting to admit she was afraid and under pressure and she needed help. Emu’s voice felt strained and hopeless which caused her to sound quite less and helpless. She did need help. She didn’t want to say this out loud to anybody - but she just did, so she waited for Tsukasa’s rebuttal and how he would handle it because her state was refusing to make her feel any better right now.

His eyes were discoloured, almost fading in the dark night with the moon only lighting up the sky and his damp eyes. He spoke softly and quietly, and Emu didn’t recognise either side of Tsukasa, for he was serious and calm.

“I want to help you, right? So let’s figure it out together, Emu.”

She had burst into tears, almost swallowing her breath. She really hated it - she hated herself right now and she wanted to disappear and run out of breaths. She tried to embrace Tsukasa without a second thought, which took him aback by suprise, but he let her as Emu was drowning in her sorrows. She tugged on his teal blue jumper, sobbing and aching and he consoled her through all of it.
