Chapter 26: In Sickness And In Health

Summary:

For Rust72! This went a bit longer than expected but I hope I did the concept justice ♡♡

One sick little moonbeam

Chapter Text

Roxy was a steady presence, she liked to think. Sure, she could come off as a little bit vain, and yeah , sometimes her love language consisted of gentle bullying, but she was reliable. She knew her stuff, she was pretty confident in herself here lately, and she was a damn good auntie-slash-sister.

The dynamic of their family was a bit odd, she'd admit. She'd never known any other way for it to really be , though, and she was certain that everyone had been doing exponentially better since this new aspect slotted so perfectly into their lives. She and Monty had always been rather close, she'd admit, but there had always been something hidden between them, some concept or secret which simply wouldn't or couldn't see the light of day. She hadn't expected for him to be a regressor as well, but Roxanne Wolf was nothing if not flexible and good at rolling with the punches.

It lead her to situations like this, after all.

Monty was grinning up at her from within a hooded towel, his plume of curly hair a riotous mess atop his head. His newer body, courtesy of Ness, was highly reminiscent of his bigger form, down to the little dots of darker 'scales' which decorated his casing not unlike freckles on a human. The only main changes were the size, his snout and his tail - the latter two being just a touch shorter and a few bits chubbier than his normal proportions.

Roxy made quick work of playfully catching one of his cheeks in her fingers, giving it a gentle pinch and earning a tiny attempt at a hiss for her efforts. Both fell into laughter soon after. The wolf was gentle as she helped him wrestle into his pajamas, unable to fight back the pride at seeing him in a little Roxy footie pajama set. Getting his tail to cooperate took some creativity, admittedly, but it was soon done.

Shifting her little buddy to her hip, she stepped out of the little bathroom and nearly bumped into a little brunette.

"Oh. Hey, Greg."

"Bubba!"

"Monty," Greg cheered, reaching out to snatch up his tiny gator brother. The child in question went willingly, squirming until Greg set him down. Once on his feet, Monty's little hand curled into Greg's pajamas while the scales Little bounced happily on the balls of his feet.

Roxy rolled her eyes but couldn't fight back the fond smile. "Oh, I see how it is," she growled, tail wagging visibly. "No love for ol' Roxy, huh? I get it. I get it… maybe you'd rather the tickle monster!"

The boy took off squealing, rushing towards the back hall which connected to their private quarters. Roxy scrambled after them, jands raised and ready . She nearly snorted however at seeing Monty almost run face first into a door only for Greg to snatch him up and disappear into another hall.

Yeah, her family was pretty weird.

But she didn't think she'd love it nearly as much if it weren't.

Freddy, on the other hand, was nervous.

He was a rather lax parent, he believed. His children were more than allowed to explore their world. They even found themselves into trouble with that curious nature of theirs'. He'd never stop them from learning and experimenting, from exploring their independence in ways that weren't explicitly dangerous. He was rather 'chill' , as the youths would say.

He was not chill at all at present.

Sunny was being quiet, which wasn't necessarily a bad thing, but Moon's near silence and drowsy nature was putting him on edge. Usually the quiet involving these two was something to be hypervigilant of - quiet toddlers are scheming toddlers, he has learned. But this time, it was evident that neither were up to any mischief.

Bathtime was a simple, easy affair. Sunny had swirled the bubbles around a little bit but had mostly been stuck to Moon's side like glue. Washing the two off had been remarkably easy, and neither had wanted to sit and play in the water after.

Freddy had simply nodded, helped both out and bundled them into towels. Sunny held his tight while Moon nearly slumped into the bear's arms.

"Papa, tired…"

"I see that, cub," Freddy rumbled gently back. "Would it be alright if I passed you to your daddy so I may help Sunny get dressed?"

"M'kay." Moon lifted his head enough to make grabbing hands for the bunny lurking in the doorway. Bonnie's brow was drawn tight as he took his kiddo, settling the other into his lap.

Sunny watched on quietly.

"Sunny, sweetheart, are you feeling alright?"

Turning back, Sun blinked big blue eyes up at his papa, little lips in a frown. "Moony doesn't feel good."

"I know," Freddy knelt down gently, moving to help dry the still dripping baby bot off. "But we will take good care of him, right?"

Sunny nodded, gently stepping into his clean leggings and helping to wriggle into his little night gown. "C'n I make a cave?"

"A cave?"

"Mhmm!" Sunny let Freddy slide his slipper boots on and pick him up before continuing. "When I get the sickies, MoonMoon an' Bubba an' Monty build biiiig cuddle caves! An' we get blankies an' snackies an' watch a movie before bedtime so I feel better." Sunny then shifted to catch his papa's equally blue gaze. "Wanna make Moony feel better, too."

Freddy chuckled softly, moving to pet a hand over Sunny's rays. "I think that is a wonderful idea, little one," he agreed. "In fact… why don't we go get the living room set up for a nice night in? We can allow Moon to pick the film."

"Okay!"

And so off the two went, carefully collecting pillows and blankets, little hands and big alike carefully arranging their loot into the commies configuration they could. When Roxy trotted in with two giggly boys tucked under her arms, it took only some brief explaining before they too began helping. The children began hunting for the best stuffies to bring in whilst Freddy set about finishing what little was left to maneuver around to make room for everyone.

Roxy had scattered away to the kitchen to prepare some drinks for everyone, rumbling happily when her beloved met her with a kiss to the cheek and an offer to help. Between the two, the drinks were done and little plates were prepared, sippy cups of juice and little brownie pans ready to be torn into.

It was just at the end of it all being ready that Bonnie glided in, torso encompassed in fabric. He gave a bittersweet smile, pulling to a stop by the couch and shifting the sling to reveal a flushed little head. Moon whined.

Freddy wordlessly stepped closer, hands up in an offer. Transferring the child was easier than expected, despite the grumbles, and soon Bonnie was transferring himself to the sofa. He expertly folded up his chair, arranged a pillow at his arm and side, and delicately took the other back.

"I went ahead and ran a diagnostic on the little dove," the bunny explained gently. "'Looks like a regular, simple little wrap. He ought to be feeling better by morning. I double checked his anti-virus while I was at it, he'd near kicked this bug. Just getting tired and a bit more fussy 'cause of it."

"No' fussy…"

"Is okay," Sunny cooed softly, scrambling to get onto the couch, failing once, twice, before Monty helped pick him up. Sunny gave d the other a kiss on the cheek in thanks. Turning back, he ignored the flustered little gator he left behind. "Moony feels yucky! I gets it! I get ickies, too, lots an' lots. But Moony an' Bubba an' ev'yone make me feel better, so I wanna make Moony better! Here!" Sunny leaned close, pressing a gentle kiss to Moon's forehead, a little bit clumsy but visibly dripping with love. "I love you, even when you get the sickness."

Moon blinked, face flushing darker before he reached our towards Sunny. Bonnie helped them shift around, even going so far as to help the other's up when it became apparent that all the kids wanted in on the squished space. It ended with Gregory nearly in Freddy's lap, wedged between the bear and Monty, with Sun and Moon sprawled in the miniscule dip between the two slightly bigger boys. Gregory fondly rubbed at Moon's back while Monty and Sun held a hand and his waist respectively. It was a tight fit, but one they made work.

Roxy and Chica took up the floor before them, pulling the coffee table closer. Freddy dimmed the lights, Chica began passing out snacks and Bonnie lifted the remote to find their options for the evenings.

In the center of it all, a sleepy little boy felt more loved and far more secure than he'd ever dreamed of being
