Chapter Text

As Rick followed Leigh into the house they were looking at his eyes scanned for possible threats and problems, a habit he struggled to break from his time in the SEALS. One he’d maybe never break.

“Rick.. Maverick?!” Leigh says gaining Rick's attention finally after three times of asking. The detective shot her a sheepish smile, one she had fallen in love with.

“Yeah Princess?” Rick says, looking at her and rubbing the back of his neck. Leigh motioned to the house.

“Do you think this is the house for us?” Says Leigh raising an eyebrow at her boyfriend watching as he thought. She was in love with this house, but they had agreed to both agree on a place. A home to live in had been one of her stipulations for returning to LA.

“I think it’s perfect and is the best place for Eagan and our future children to grow up in.” Rick says winking at her, making Leigh flush and giggle.

“Who says I was giving you more kids?” She teased.

“We both know you can’t resist me.” Rick returned, causing Leigh to roll her eyes. She headed outside to look at the house from the front once more.

The house was a modern farmhouse with three stories, a wrap-around porch, seven bedrooms, six bathrooms including a master suite as well as walk-in closets, a home movie theatre and a large pool in the large backyard with an adjoining workshop on the property.

“You love this house, don’t you?” Rick asked, coming to stand beside her.

“I do… I can see myself baking in the kitchen, Eagan learning to swim in the pool, you and me making a home here.” She admitted softly.

“Then let’s get it.” He told her.

“Are you sure? I mean this is only the fifth house we’ve looked at.” Rick grinned softly.

“I love it, and you love it.” Leigh looked over the paperwork detailing the information.

“It’s a fair price… I’m guessing because of the knockdown in price someone died here.” She mused as Rick read over her shoulder.

“Yeah… I wanted to run something by you.” He said quietly.

“Shoot.” She said smiling.

“I want to use the life insurance money I got from Axel to pay for a bit more.” He said, causing Leigh to turn in his arms at the mention of his biological father.

“Rick, are you sure? You don’t have to… It’s your money and I don’t want you to feel you have something to prove. You're not Axel… your bio father was a monster and you're not him.”

“I know… But I want to do this for myself. I want you and Eagan to never have to worry about things like paying the mortgage if anything happens to me.” He told her leaning his forehead against hers.

“Alright.” Leigh agreed.

After heading back to the real estate office and filling out the paperwork, they set the move-in date and were given the keys. Leigh went to pick up Eagan and finished filling out the form for the daycare Taylor had found for them.

Rick had meetings with the upper brass for a couple hours setting up his unit and getting the bullpen ready to go, the bullpen was an exact copy of the one in Chicago he watched as the computers were set up on the desks, his own work laptop on his desk, photos around it of him and Leigh, him and Jay and Hailey, one of him Jay and Antonio, him and his dad, and one of him, Leigh and Eagan.

The next few days were a blur of organizing the moving truck that held their clothes and such. Three days after purchasing the home, Leigh and Rick were getting ready to go out for drinks. Leigh pulled on a black V-neck dress and heels along with a silver leather jacket, Rick was dressed in a tee-shirt and jeans, his shirt showing off his arms and the trident tattoo on his forearm covering the scars from his time in the sandbox.

The drive was easy for Rick even if he hadn’t been to LA before this, he was able to navigate through the streets with ease.  While Rick drove and Leigh switched on the radio for some background noise. She sang softly along to the music and Rick couldn't help but smile. It was their first night in LA where they weren’t nervous that something may happen. Rick pulled up in front of a bar Leigh had recommended not knowing the people they really didn’t want to see were also there.

The 118 and Athena, Karen, Maddie, Michael and David were sitting at a table when Rick and Leigh walked in causing them to go silent. Rick's arm was around her shoulders holding her close to his body. Leigh was giggling at something Rick said in her ear.

“Stop it! I’m going to seem crazy drunk already and I haven’t even had a drink.” She giggled looking at him.

“I Suppose. Besides this is not Molly's so it’s not like I can't talk about dad and the team.” Rick chuckled reaching across to brush her hair back from her face

“Is that Buck?” Hen asked, watching the brown-haired woman laugh as they sat down.

“It is, with him AGAIN.” Eddie spat watching the couple interact, Rick’s eyes only for Leigh. Maddie was frozen in shock as she saw her younger sister sitting there.

“She's back. When did she get back?” Maddie asked, ready to go over to her sister and confront her.

“Three days ago.” Athena mumbled not taking her eyes off the closed-off man she had witnessed at the station gazing at the woman before him with love and adoration. Rick stared at Leigh like she was the only person in the world.

“She looks happy.”  Karen stated.

“Who cares what she looks like?” Eddie snapped while continuing to glare at the scene before him.

“Remember that time squad had a shift that was so crazy because someone (Capp) said the Q word?” Leigh questioned with a grin on her face as she recalled the madness of that shift.

“I remember I came over and found you passed out by the stairs.” Rick teased as he sipped his beer.

“I couldn’t make it to the bed! And you swore you’d never mention it again!” Leigh laughed.

“What do you think they're talking about?” Chim questions looking at the woman who was once like a little sister to him.

“Whatever it is, they're having fun.” Hen mumbles a small feeling guilt wash over her at the fact that Leigh would never feel like that around them.

“Let her come to you, you pushed her away and broke her trust. Let her come back in her own time.” Karen said to the members of the 118.

“Plus, that guy looks seriously beefed. I wouldn't cross him.” Michael pointed out.

“Yeah, check out his tattoos.” David added.

“The tattoo on his arm is a trident, SEALS have a trident tattoo before deployment and their first major missions.”  Eddie explained recalling his time in the army when a group of seals arrived on the base he was at.

“She’s dating a SEAL?” Bobby asked, shocked. The Buck he remembered hadn’t seemed the type for that. Then again, did they really know Everleigh Buckley at all?

“Detective now, he's the head of the new intelligence and organized crime unit.” Athena corrected her going back to the man she met three days ago, a man to be already feared by patrol, he commanded respect in the room whenever he passed by.

“There’s something off about him,” Eddie commented crossing his arms.

“So, who's joining your crew, Babe? You get to run your own team now.” Rick asked a cheeky grin on his face and an eyebrow raised.

“Lena Bosko and there are a few others. I don’t know if that was their intention but the applications, I was given were from mostly females, so this squad is going to be almost all-female." Leigh said, her voice happy. She was finally in a place in her career that made her feel on top of the world.

“Hashtag girl BO$$.” Rick joked and Leigh giggled

“What about you?” Leigh asks, sipping her drink. “You’re finally running your own unit.”

“A couple of officers, one is an ex-air force so maybe him. Other than that, the search is beginning.” Rick told her. Leigh smiled and took his hand.

“I have to talk to her.” Maddie said standing up from her seat. She couldn’t take it anymore… being this close to her sister and not a word being said between them.

“I can’t wait to see the unit you put together.” Leigh smiled before looking at the menu. “I have to pee. Can you order me some of those jalapeño poppers?”

“Copy that." Rick said, waving down a waitress and placing their order.

“Who's going to talk to them?” Eddie asked as they watched Buck leave the table, she shot her boyfriend a smile before she kissed his cheek softly. Maybe now was their chance.

“I don’t think she wants to see any of us right now.” Hen muttered remembering the fiasco a few days ago.

“This is why I love you,” Leigh told him, kissing his cheek as she passed.

Rick pulled out his phone to send a message to Hank and the team “Leigh got the job and we’re at the bar where her ex-team and sister are here.” He typed. The replies arrived quickly with different responses.

“Good luck kid.” Hank responded.

“Don’t let her drink more than five drinks, she gets really spiteful when it’s passed that.” Platt added. Leigh soon slipped back in the seat smiling at him.

“So, I was thinking tomorrow we could go furniture shopping. Maybe pick out our bedroom set?” She offered.

“That is a great idea. You think Taylor can watch Eagan while we're out” Rick questioned, sipping his scotch and coke.

“I already asked her…Plus she offered to watch him over night, so we get some alone time.” Leigh informed him with a mischievous smile on her face.

“You want to get out of here?” Rick said, his voice deep with want.

“Oh, I don’t know. I mean I just ordered those poppers.” Leigh pretended to think a Cheshire grin on her face. She loved pushing this man's buttons.

“Fine but heads up your ex-team are here as well. So, what's the plan for the nursery and the rest of the house?” Rick told her, causing the grin to fall off her face.

“And the mood is dead. I was going to ask her to get those to go.” Leigh groaned, burying her face in her hands.

“We can still leave, but if you want to talk to them, I will go with you.” Rick told her taking her hand.

“What I wanted was a romantic night with the love of my life.” Leigh countered, irritated. “Is my sister there?” She hissed downing her drink.

“Yep sorry.” Rick apologized.

“Then we aren’t leaving without her trying to talk to me. Excuse me another one of these, please, add extra alcohol.” Leigh said hurt in her voice as she spoke to the waitress.

“Hey, whatever happens you have me as backup.” Rick reassured, squeezing her hand.

“I know. It’s just I thought I had more time. I just wanted to focus on us, our little unit of three… and you and me. Yes, we rock as a couple. But we haven’t had any real-time for each other since we became parents, and I don’t know… I wanted to recreate that for a night." Leigh said wistfully.

“We can, we get out of here and be us for the rest of the night and I order you breakfast in bed and give you my full undivided attention.” Rick said with a spark of want in his eyes.

“Can we take advantage of that jetted tub in the bathroom?” Leigh asked, looking at him.

 “100%.” He winked.

“And the mood is back.” Leigh grinned. “But first ten-minute pause while I deal with that shit show. Grab my card out of my bag to pay our tab, will you?” She said as the waitress dropped off her new drink.

“Yes ma’am.” Rick said his grin wolfish and cocky. Leigh took a breath and turned to walk over to the 118 her body language saying don't fuck with me with her drink in hand.

“We’ll, I’d say this is a pleasant surprise, but we all know I’d be lying.” She told them dropping into the chair between Michael and Karen smoothing out her dress. Everyone froze for a few minutes, and she sipped her drink tapping her foot.

“Buckaroo how have you been?” Hen asked, trying to break the ice.

“Cut the crap, Henrietta. I thought after the little park fiasco you all would have gotten the message. One, I'm not your Buckaroo. It’s Leigh and two I’m not your biggest fan. Especially you two.” She finished pointing at Bobby and then at Eddie who couldn’t stop staring at her in the form fitting v neck black dress. It was a far cry from the Everleigh “I only own one dress and it’s for funerals” Buckley he remembered. “Maddie, we will talk when I email you. Diaz, I’m shocked I have to say this, but my eyes are up here.” Leigh snapped.

“But…” Maddie began to protest.

“The first rule it's lieutenant now." Leigh says and jaws drop in shock causing her to smirk. “Second, you don’t get to come up to me with all your bravado and demand answers, okay? That’s over! I left you and considering what it’s got me, I don’t think I’ll regret it. Third, as you clearly can see, I'm in a relationship and have a son now. My partner Rick is the head of the new intelligence and organized crime unit.” Maddie gasped.

“A relationship?” Eddie growls.

“Yep, my boyfriend Maverick “Rick” Voight.” Leigh responded her eyebrow raised as she finished her drink and crossed her arms.

“Is that what you call it?”

“What else would I call it?”

“What else would she call it?” Rick growled out, appearing behind Leigh, his hand inching to his side arm. Everyone at the table jumped, while Leigh just rolled her eyes.

“Honey, what have I told you about appearing behind me out of nowhere like that?” She asked with a giggle in her voice.

“To make some noise when I do because I did it that one time at 51 and freaked Kelly out.” Rick remarked rolling his eyes

“Yes, and back to Diaz, what would we call it?” Leigh demanded. Eddie opens his mouth to answer but shuts it when Rick growls again.

“Okay, Michael and Karen, great seeing you again. This was fun, let's do it again, never.” Leigh said, rising. She took her bag from Rick and made to walk off. Rick a couple of steps behind her before turning his head back to issue a warning.

“Mess up and I find a way to make you disappear.” He growled before chasing after Leigh.

“Voight keep up. And stop staring at my ass.” She told him heading for the truck.

“Ok, ok I’m coming, Princess.” Rick said, quickening his pace.

“Did that just happen?” Maddie asked the table, still in partial shock. Her sister was a mother… and her boyfriend knew?

“Yep.” Chim said before noticing her glare.

“Something you want to tell me?! Something about seeing my sister a few days ago?”

“We saw her at the park with a baby and he had his arm around her shoulders three days ago, he basically told us she was in Chicago all this time.” Chim mumbled looking down.

“And you didn’t tell me? What the hell?!” Maddie snapped. Meanwhile the couple reached Rick’s truck.

“Did you threaten them?” Leigh asked.

“I told them if they mess up, I will make them disappear.” Rick stated while starting the truck.

Leigh shook her head before taking his face in her hands and kissing him passionately.

“Hotel room?” Rick asked, his voice rich with want as he took in his girlfriend.

“Yes.” Leigh answered in a whisper before leaning back to buckle up. “I can’t believe it took this long for you to realize I was trying to seduce you.”

 “Yeah, I noticed.”

“Oh, really Einstein, when did you notice?” She asked.

“The second you sat in that chair and put Diaz in his place.”

“That wasn’t me seducing you that was me dealing with an ass.” She retorted. Rick laughs and drove them back to their hotel.

“Come on, Princess.” He said helping her down. Leigh pulled away and whispered in his ear.

Not your Princess, Detective.” She taunted before walking into the hotel and going up to their room. Rick was one step behind her the whole time.

The second Leigh shut the door she gasped as she was pinned to it.

“What was that?” Rick asked, smirking.

“You heard me.” Leigh breathed as he moved his lips to her neck.

“Guess I’ll just have to remind you…” He promised before kissing her hard. He was in control of this moment. His goal was to have her scream with pleasure, after all she belonged to him in many different ways. His hand slid down her waist to her thighs that had become damp from lust and Rick purred softly “So wet for me Princess…” he murmured softly nipping her ear softly.

What followed was a very pleasurable night.
