Chapter Text
The smell of coffee filled Naruto’s nose as he walked inside. Quiet chatter surrounded the cafe. A certain pink haired girl stood behind the counter, her back slouched, her eyes wandering. Naruto walked to the front and leaned on the counter. He flicked Sakura’s forehead to get her attention. Her forehead turned red and she was ready to punch him. But then she saw who it was and smiled.
“Naruto! Oh my god where’ve you been?” Sakura said hugging him in delight.
“Hey, sorry I didn’t tell you, I went to the cloud village with Sasuke.” Naruto said.
“Sasuke? You guys are close huh?” Naruto chuckled.
“Yeah I guess we are. Is Tsunade here?” Sakura pointed to a table in which a blonde woman was sitting.
Naruto made his way to the table and stood in front of her. She looked at him and gestured him to sit. He sat down and took out the box he brought. He took out the newspaper and slid it to her. She hesitantly picked it up, her eyes widened as she read it.
“I found it in his stuff, he knew didn’t he?” Naruto continued.
“I’m not stupid. He knew the entire time who my parents were and he never told me. He’s not the only one. I found it suspicious that you came out of nowhere. You knew my parents. You wanted me to find out rather than telling me.” She smiled.
“You’re smarter than I thought. You got it spot on. Yes, I did know your parents. However there’s a good reason why I didn’t tell you.” Tsunade said before pausing to drink her coffee.
“The terrorist group that attacked your parents got away. We couldn’t have let you know who your parents were or else you would be a target. So we put you in an orphanage, Jiraiya kept watch of you and noticed that no one adopted you. So he took you in.”
“The only reason why I let you find out is because they were recently arrested. I made you find out by yourself so that I wouldn’t have to tell you. I don’t think it’s fair that some random lady you don’t know gets to tell you such important news.”
“I hope you understand.” Tsunade concluded.
“How do you know him? How do you know Jiraiya?” Tsunade was confused but answered anyway.
“We went to the same school together and ended up working the same job, why do you ask?”
“I want to know more about him. I lived with him for so long, I think I deserve it.” A voice came from the back.
“Naruto! You’re finally back! You’ve been leaving Sakura alone this whole time. Get to work!” Kakashi yelled.
Naruto groaned and waved to Tsunade before leaving the table. He went to the locker room and changed his clothes. He went to the front of the counter, standing beside Sakura.
“I’m gonna take 15, don’t set anyone’s order on fire.” Sakura said.
“No promises.” Naruto joked, receiving a punch to his arm.
He rubbed the soon to be bruised area and started cleaning the counter. He could hear the glass door open and footsteps coming near him. He looked up to see a face he thought he wouldn’t see for a long time. His smile widened and his breath hitched. His rose filled cheeks became more apparent.
“Hey Sasuke! What’re you doing here? You should be resting.” Naruto said.
“I could ask you the same.” Naruto sighed.
“Kakashi forced me to work, what about you?”
“I have a shit ton of work to get through, can I have the usual?” Sasuke asked.
Naruto nodded and started preparing his drink. He could feel Sasuke’s eyes on him, watching his every move. This made assembling his drink even more nerve wrecking, the cunt was so god damn picky with everything. Naruto handed him his drink, Sasuke was about to pull out his wallet when Naruto stopped him.
“It’s on the house. It’s the least I can do for having to deal with me for 48 hours.” Sasuke smiled and waved at him.
“Have a good one! Love ya!” Naruto practically screamed.
Sasuke stopped. He turned on his heel and smirked at Naruto. He looked back at him confused, he trailed back to what he had just said and his jaw dropped. His face slowly became a strawberry. His mouth quivered, every time he tried talking it came out as a stutter. He took a step back and ran to the back in embarrassment and practically hid himself. Sakura walked over to him confused.
“What are you doing?” She asked.
“Sakura… I told him. I told him that I loved him.” Naruto said.
Sakura looked at the front to see Sasuke’s face and then looked at Naruto. She was solving the situation in her head and realized what had just happened. She smiled at Naruto and put her hand on his shoulder.
“What are you doing? Go tell him properly.” Sakura said.
“Are you crazy?! He’s going to reject me! I can’t do this Sakura! Can you pretend to be me and tell him? I think we have a blonde wig somewher-“ Sakura cut him off.
“No. You’re going to talk to him whether you like it or not. If he does reject you, than that’s it. Hell reject you, you’ll live on and I’ll kill him.” Naruto laughed.
“Thanks Sakura. You’re right, I need to fight my fears.” Naruto confessed.
He calmed his breathing and walked to the front. He was sweating and he felt like crying. It was so horrifying to deal with his emotions, not to mention he didn’t know if he and Sasuke would still talk after this. But it was now or never. He stood behind the counter, almost as if it was some sort of protection.
“What’d you tell me before? I didn’t quite catch that.” Sasuke teased.
“Oh my god this is terrifying, Sasuke just so you know I hate you for this. When we first met I thought you were a privileged asshole who didn’t have any source of remorse. Even though some parts of that are true you’re so much more than that.”
“You’re funny, charming, and smart. You always know what to do and say. In other words… you’re perfect. But since you’re perfect I don’t really deserve you.”
“But it’s worth a shot. Sasuke, I care about you, more than I should. So I wanted to let you know that I love you.”
Naruto had shut his eyes the whole time he had said it. He opened one of his eyes to see Sasuke’s eyes widened and his mouth hanged open. His cheeks were dusted with pink and his hair was covering a bit of his face. In other words, he looked breathtaking. This made Naruto panic and speak a bunch gibberish.
“But I get if you don’t like me back! I know that I kinda forced it on you! I’ve done some pretty bad stuff to you too-“ Naruto’s apron was pulled.
His lips felt warm as it was pressed against another pair of lips. Sasuke had kissed him. He had waited months for this, and it was so worth it. They separated and looked at each other.
“Does this mean… that you like me back?” Naruto asked.
Sasuke rolled his eyes and smiled. Naruto started giggling, it erupted to histaric laughter. He jumped over the counter and hugged Sasuke, lifting him off the ground. Sakura watched everything and couldn’t help smiling at the scene.
These two had been flirting for so long, it was nice to see they were finally happy with each other. Kakashi also watched and smiled, Sakura put her hand up and Kakashi sighed. He pulled out a 50 and gave it to Sakura. She smirked and shoved it in her pocket.
“Remind me to never make a bet with you.” Kakashi said in defeat.
Sakura didn’t say anything and walked over to the new couple. Naruto had finally put down Sasuke and was discussing with him about themselves.
“I’m pretty you started warming up to me when you started using my first name than my last name.”
“Yeah, besides Uzumaki isn’t a good last name.” Sasuke remarked.
“I’d much rather like Naruto Uchiha.” Naruto’s face went red.
“I hate you.” He said while pouting. Sasuke kissed his cheek.
“Yeah I love you too.” Sakura came to them and put her hand on her hip.
“It’s about time you guys got together. You should’ve seen it Sasuke, he only ever talked about you. It was so annoying.”
“Is that right? Oh I’d love to see that, don’t you think Naruto?” Sasuke smirk.
“You know I think I liked you better when I thought you hated me.” Naruto said.
“Alright, I’m done teasing. But I’m counting on you to take me on a date.” Sasuke said.
“I can do that. Just be prepared to smell like a cow.”
“Naruto Uchiha I swear to god if you take us to a petting zoo for our first date I will actually break up with you.”
“You would never, you love me too much.” Naruto said smiling.
Sasuke rolled his eyes and grabbed his coffee and was getting ready to leave. He waved Naruto bye, in which Naruto dramatically blew a kiss. Sakura leaned on his shoulder and smirked.
“You know, he knew that you liked him.” Sakura said.
“How do you know?” Naruto asked.
“He told me when we all ate ramen together. Why do you think he flirted with you so much? The whole time you guys were talking he was teasing you so he could see you blushing.” Naruto’s mouth gaped open.
“You are rather obvious. He’s a lot like you. He only ever talked about you. According to him you’re his sun, he said a lot of other cheesy stuff but he should say that to you himself.”
“You made a bet with Kakashi didn’t you?” Sakura pulled out a crisp 50 dollar bill from her pocket.
“I hate that I still care about both of you.” Naruto said.
“You’re still taking him to a petting zoo aren’t you?”
“Hell yeah.”
