Chapter 1: Ferret and Ducks Can Fight Well

Chapter Text

“Q,” somebody next to him whispered. He turned, looking at Scar, one of his best friends. “What.” Quackity whispered back. “Look what Wilbur’s wearing today.” He elbowed Quackity in the side. He stared down two rows, seeing Wilbur Soot, the model of the school settle down.

He was pretty, wearing a black beanie and white and black plaid shirt. Quackity sighed lovingly, and Scar giggled. “You’re so weird.” He chuckled. “There’s nothing weird about admiring a guys beauty!” Quackity shrugged, straitening his posture as the teacher stared towards their direction.

“You should totally go ask him to sit at our table.” Scar suggested. Quackity’s cheeks burned at the thought of Wilbur sitting in a 10 feet range of himself. Wilbur was the adopted son of one of the richest tech industries out there, with a side brand for clothing, which Wilbur modeled for.

He had dark brown, curly hair and round, gold rimmed glasses that made him look so beautiful, and Quackity may have a tiny crush on him. “You’re drooling, Q.” Scar reminded him, still looking at the board. Quackity quickly wiped up the drool off his lips, and brushed bright red.

The bell rang, and the kids started to collect their things, Quackity included. “I’m not gonna get lunch, not hungry.” Quackity sighed, looking at his phone. He had an unanswered text from his brother from a week ago, asking if he ate the hot pockets in the freezer specifically labeled “ Tubbo ”. He did. But Tubbo doesn’t have to know that.

“Quackity!” Scar began to shake him, and Quackity realized everybody else had left. “Sorry, let’s go.” Quackity and Scar walked together, to their usual lunch table. Quackity settled down, yawning. The table consisted of a few people. Niki Nihachu, one of Quackity’s main friends, Sapnap and Karl, which was the only couple at the table.

“Look what I made Puffy today!” Niki lifted up two brightly colored bracelets. “They’re friendship bracelets!” She hummed. Puffy, ironically, sat at the table Wilbur was at right now. “Aww, they’re so nice!” Scar cooed, leaning across the table to look at them.

Niki looked at Quackity. “Hey Quackity, I have a favor!” She gave one of the bracelets to Quackity. “Can you deliver this to Puffy please?” Niki smiled brightly. “Yeah sure, why not.” Quackity stood up, heading across the cafeteria, looking at the bracelets. All of the beads on the string were different, the main square beads spelling out “P U F F Y”. He could tell it was well made, it probably wouldn’t fall apart any time soon.

Then he felt his head bump into someone, then he stumbled backwards. That someone also caught him from falling, grabbing onto his waist. That someone? It was Wilbur, obviously. Quackity looked up, staring into Wilbur’s eyes as he held his waist tightly, his cheeks bright red.

Then he finally screeched, jumping out of Wilbur’s grip. “Are you okay, Q?” Wilbur chuckled awkwardly, scratching the back of his neck. “P-Perfectly fine! T-Thanks for saving me from falling.” He mumbled. “No problem. I was about to head to your table, anyway!” Wilbur assured with a smile. “Okay I’ll be going then!” He hummed awkwardly, speed walking away from Wilbur.

He felt Wilbur’s stare on him for a few seconds, until finally, it was lifted. “ PUFFY. ” He slammed the bracelet on the table in front of her. “Jeez, what’s wrong?” She asked, her curly hair up in a bun. “You don’t know what I had to do to get this to you. Also, this is from Niki.” Quackity explained to her. Puffy scoffed and muttered something, but Quackity couldn’t hear it, as he was rushing back to his own table.

Wilbur was there, standing over Scar with a smile. “Oh, Quackity! Hey again!” Wilbur kindly waved, and Quackity gave a half ass wave, clearly still embarrassed. “844, 281, 5733.” Scar said, catching Quackity’s glare. “Huh?” He asked. “Oh, Wilbur just asked for my number.” Scar explained.

Quackity nodded and sat back down, putting on his bag. “The math assessment is tomorrow,” Niki commented, messing with the bracelet on her wrist. “I’m prepared, definitely. ” Scar chuckled. “I’ll probably study when I get home.” He said. “I usually don’t need to study,” Wilbur shrugged, before looking at Scar.

“I’ll send you the notes for economics, kay?” Wilbur assured him. Scar quickly nodded, and Wilbur glanced at Quackity, making his heart race. “I have to go back to my table, talk to you guys later!” He fucking winked at Q, before walking away.

Quackity was frozen, about to have a heart attack or something. The butterflies in his stomach were on drugs, fluttering around and making him feel warm and cold at the same time. Weird. “Quackity, are you alright?” Scar giggled, snapping Quackity out of his thoughts. “Perfectly fine, giddy in fact!” Quackity muttered, looking at the table to avoid eye contact with his friend.

Once Quackity got home, he went straight to his room. Setting his bag down, he got out his algebra notebook and started to study. He sucked at math. Grades were extremely important to Q, so he’d take any chance to study.

Until there was a ding from his bag. Assuming it was his phone, he opened it again and pulled out his phone, and an unknown number popped up.

884-5205-263: Hey Q!

What the hell? He opened the message, quickly typing back.

Big Q: Who is this?

There was a long pause after that as the person typed.

884-5205-263: Oh, it’s me! Wilbur Soot?

Big Q: What.

Big Q: How the hell do you have my number?

He quickly saved the contact, not wanting to ruin the opportunity to get Wilbur’s number without asking.

Wilbur: At lunch, Scar gave me his number and yours! He told me you wanted to chat with me sometimes!

Quackity paused. He’s gonna kill Scar.

Big Q: Oh, alright then

Wilbur:  So hows your day been?

Wilbur: You seemed pretty cranky during lunch until I saved you from falling lmao

Big Q: Fine, I’m just hella tired

Quackity looked at his paper. He should really be studying. Then he looked back at his phone. “Goddamn it.” Q muttered, seeing another message.

Wilbur: Aw I’m sorry

Wilbur: Wish there was smth I could do to help :(

He closed his notebook and put his bag, still muttering curse words under his breath.

In the meanwhile, Niki was concerned. Her and Puffy had gotten into a fight last weekend about who was driving them to Wendy’s, which eventually led to both of them screaming about the others traumas. Usually, Puffy would go up to her and apologize, then they’d hug and the fight would be no more.

But that hasn’t happened yet, and Niki has a small feeling that it isn’t going to. She spent the whole weekend making “make up bracelets” for her, as an apology (Niki wasn’t exactly the best at confrontations or getting confronted, and Puffy knew that), but she found it on the floor of the hall after Puffy had left the cafeteria.

It made Niki think she couldn’t care at all anymore. Niki curled up into a ball, tears softly streaming down her face. She looked at the bracelet on her wrist, the ends where she had tied them off were getting frayed, and one of the whiter beads had gotten a bit dirty from her science lab.

Wind softly blew into her room from the open door, along with… A moth? It looked almost pitch black as it fluttered in, with purple veins that looked almost injected into the moth. It landed on her bracelet, and Niki tilted her head as the bracelet seemed to absorb it.

Hello Heart Ache, I am Noi.” Somebody introduced themself. Niki looked around to see nobody but herself in her room. What the hell? She silently thought. “I would like to propose a deal to you. All you wanted was your friend to accept your apology gift, yet they rejected it. You must feel so alone now, must you? I can allow you to have other people by your side.” Noi explained.

Niki’s head swirled, and her thoughts scrambled. What was happening to her? “I’ll allow you gratitude by your fellow lonely people, in exchange for Snap and Soar’s miraculous. Do we have a deal?” Niki was close to knocking out at this point.

“S-Sure. I-... I just want my friend back.” She mumbled, before submitting to sleep.

Quackity really needed Wilbur to stop texting him.

Wilbur: Then me and Techno crashed into each other!

Another message interrupted Q texting his response.

!!RED ALERT!!

ANY HERO IS REQUESTED AT LAKE AVE. ALL CITIZENS STAY INSIDE AND HIDE. VILLAIN IS WEARING BLACK JUMPER AND SUNGLASSES. VILLAIN IS UNARMED, AUTHORITIES BELIEVE THAT THEY THROW CHEMICALS AT CIVILIANS TO DO HARM. PLEASE STAY AWAY.

Wilbur: Did you just get that?

Big Q: Yup.

Wilbur: Welp, guess I’ve gotta hide.

Big Q: Yup, same.

Wilbur: MAYBE WE SHOULD HIDE TOGETHER!

Big Q: No thanks -.-

Wilbur: Your no fun :(

Big Q: You’re*

Wilbur: >:(

Quackity quite literally jumped out of his seat, closing the door. He messed with the small ring around his finger, before a small creature popped out of it. His kwami. “Hey, I was busy!” His little brat, Pebbles, whined. “Too bad, there’s a villain going around.” Quackity explained.

His kwami was a small creature, there wasn’t really a good way to explain it other than he had feathers near his arms and on his forearms, along with a small beanie that Quackity knit him a while ago to match with him.

“Ugh, I’m tired though!” Pebbles whined. “C’mon Pebbles.” He pat the kwami, and Pebbles quacked. “Fine.” He rolled his eyes. “Okay, Pebbles, let’s fly!” He commanded. Pebbles saluted before going back into the ring.

He felt energy surge through his body, and when he looked at the mirror, the sweater and jeans Q was originally wearing was now a brown and green supersuit, the colors similar to a duck. That’s what his miraculous was, after all.

He opened the window and jumped off into an alleyway, making sure to check his pockets for his throwing feathers. That was his weapon. They were more like sharp as hell throwing stars, but to stick with the theme, they came in the shape of a feather.

He climbed up a building through a gutter, and looked around. Whatever villain that he was supposed to fight wasn’t there. “Hey beautiful~” He heard behind him. Quackity sighed, before turning around. “ Snap, ” He rolled his eyes. Snap was supposedly his partner in (fighting) crime, although there was a lot of things wrong with him.

Usually, he would flirt too much (as you could see earlier), his goal should be to protect L’manberg, not make enough remarks to make Quackity want to punch him in the face. “Don’t be so harsh! We’re partners after all!” He leaned on his pole. As far as Quackity knew, Snap was the owner of the Ferret Miraculous, as you could see from his fake fluffy tail behind him, stubby little ears on his curly brown hair, and his mostly brown super suit.

To be frank, Quackity just wasn’t a big fan of him. “We’re not partners, you just follow me everywhere.” Quackity rolled his eyes. He pressed the small button on his ring and it projected a screen like a phone. “The alert said Lake Ave, and this is Lake Ave. So where’s the villain?” Quackity muttered. “Watch out!” He heard, before Snap shoved Quackity off of the building, tumbling off with him.

Both landed on their feet, luckily. “What the hell!” Q yelled, closing the screen. “Switch!” Snap yelled, the pole’s side turning sharp, now a holdable katana. “There you two are! I was just wondering!” A girls voice cheered from the top of the roof they used to be on.

Quackity looked up, seeing a girl with pink hair in a black jumper suit, with bright pink lines going through certain creases of the suit. Quackity recognized her. “Niki!?” He wanted to scream, but realizing Snap was there, he kept his mouth shut.

“W-Who are you?!” He lied, taking Snap out of the alleyway. “My name is Heart Ache! Sorry boys, but I’m gonna have to take your pretty jewelry off of you!” She hummed, the small charms on her bracelet jingling. That bracelet looks like Puffy’s. Q realized.

She pulled out a toxic green liquid in a jar out of the toolbelt on her waist, and chucked it at Snap. Quackity reluctantly leaped in front of Wilbur, pressing onto his own ring, which surrounded them in a dark green bubble of protection, which the potion splattered onto.

“The akuma’s in her bracelet I think.” Q thought out loud, while Snap looked at her. Nik- No, Heart Ache and Quackity stared at each other for a second, before he grabbed Snap’s arm and took off down the sidewalk. “Teleport us away!” He commanded, looking behind to see Heart Break running after them.

With a bright flash, they were on some other roof. Q took in a deep breath. “Soar, what do you think her power is?” Snap asked. Quackity paused. Oh wait, Quackity thought. I’m Soar. He froze up. “Well it has to be something to do with the potions. The red alert says she’ll use the potions to ‘harm civilians’, but it isn’t really specific.” Quackity thought out loud.

“I think we should just follow her about, maybe so we can see what those potions do. I’m pretty sure her akuma’s in her bracelet like you said, but we can’t risk it if she’s powerful.” Snap suggested. “Y’know, sometimes you do have good ideas!” Q complimented. “Aw, thanks Ducky!” Snap cooed, leaning on his katana now turned into a pole.

After a bit of searching, they eventually found her, and ducked behind a chimney to watch her work. As much as Grian hated it, he watched as the villain roamed around. If you didn’t see the alert, you probably wouldn’t have thought Niki was a villain, as her outfit was surpisingly casual (other than the potions of neon colors around her waist in her kit).

She took a potion and threw one some couple on the street without them noticing. Snap and Q looked at each other before looking back at the couple, who were now aggressively arguing with each other. “Ah, the name makes sense now.” Snap mumbled. “Yup. Kay’, so I think you just need to use your ability to get the bracelet. It might be difficult to break, so just givei t to me and I’ll drop it from the sky or something with mine. Got it?” Quackity told him the plan.

“God, you’re hot when you’re planning.” Snap mused. Quackity groaned. “All respect for you is now gone.” Q pursed his lips, before leaping to another roof without Snap. “Wait up!” Snap cried.

It took a long while to find Niki this time, and by the time they did, she had already caused arguments around the whole town. Great, Quackity thought. Hey both hopped down a gap between the building they were standing on, and landed in an alleyway. “ Switch. ” Snap mumbled, turning his pole back into a katana. “Ah, there you two are!” Niki giggled, staring at them.

She took out a potion, “Now!” Quackity commanded, looking at Snap. “Zippy, slow down.” He looked at Snap as he took a deep breath. Then, he turned into a blur of brown, making it too difficult for even Quackity to see his movements.

Quackity held his throwing feathers in a defensive stance, in case Niki would try anything. When he next saw Snap, he had the bracelet dangling on his own wrist. “This is pretty cute, don’t you think, Ducky?” Snap teased both Q and Niki.

“Just give it to me, you dimwit!” Quackity held out his hand, without realizing that Niki already threw another potion at Snap. He didn’t have enough time to take out his shield, so he watched as the potion exploded on Snap’s supersuit, the glass cutting the forearms. Oh no. Quackity thought.

They all stood there for a second, and Snap stood still. “Snap..?” Quackity tilted his head. “Uhm… Did you give me a faulty potion or some shit?” Snap shrugged, handing Quackity the bracelet. “What the hell?” Niki spoke out loud. “Did your fucking gay love for Soar make my potion defective?” Niki asked.

Quackity’s cheeks turned a bright shade of pink, and Snap chuckled. “I guess!” He shrugged. “Distract her.” Quackity told Snap. “Pepples, duck and weave.” He held his ring up, and with the bracelet in his hand, he used his arms to fly higher in the air, until he was full on flying.

Q tried to break it while up there, pulling his arms apart. No luck. “ I think the bracelet will break if I drop it here.” Quackity shrugged, seeing his ability wear down and he began to slowly glide down. At this point, he was much higher than the buildings, and the air was hard to breathe now.

He dropped the bracelet, and followed it as it fell down. When it dropped on the ground, it was basically shattered. When Quackity looked back at Snap and Niki, they looked to be having a conversation about the colors of the potions. “Guess I’ll have to do this myself.” He muttered, stomping the bracelet with his heel.

A small, black akuma popped out and Quackity caught it in his palms, engulfing it. “It’s okay, you’re safe now.” He assured the bug. He took a deep breath and transferred whatever energy he had into his palms, and watched as energy and light swirled in his hands.

When he opened his hands, the energy and light spread through the town, making Niki back into her normal outfit, and the people of the town to stop arguing. The akuma was now a monarch butterfly. Quackity took a deep breath as he watched it flutter away. “Bye, little butterfly.” He quickly saluted it.

Snap was suddenly in front of him, with a passed out Niki in his arms. “What do we do about her?” He asked. “She goes to MCYT High, take her there.” Q instructed. “Man, I wanted to chat with you!” He whined. Suddenly, there was a beeping coming from his ring.

“Can’t, I’m turning back soon.” Quackity sighed. “Ugh, I wish we could just have a friendly little conversation once, but I guess not.” Snap whined. Quackity took his chin and made him look down at Q. “Don’t whine, it isn’t a good look on you.” He winked.

Two can play at that game. Quackity thought. “See ya!” Quackity quickly yelled, before launching himself into the air, and away from Snap.

When he landed, he ducked into an alleyway close to his house, and took off his ring. “Pebbles, let’s fall.” He mumbled, feeling as the energy originally in his body left, and his supersuit turned back to his sweater and jeans.

Quackity climbed back into hise house through the window, and collapsed in his bed. “That was tiring.” He thought. Q turned over and noticed he left his phone on the desk. He turned it on, and noticed that Wilbur hasn’t texted him since then.

Big Q: Wanna study together in a call?

Wilbur: Study what-

Big Q: THE TEST IN MATH

Wilbur: Oh, sure!

Quackity smiled as a call notification appeared on his screen. I should probably get a profile picture for him. Quackity thought.
