Chapter Text

Tomura was annoyed. He had just gotten close to defeating a boss in a game when sensei’s voice came through the TV, which distracted him enough for the enemy to claim victory over his character.

He soon learned the reason for the interruption was because sensei had someone he wanted Tomura to meet. He had asked about this guy, and all he got told was that he could be a helpful ally to Tomura, as well as the fact his name was Dabi.

Dabi? Surely that can’t be the guy's real name.

You know what, whatever. There's no time to dwell on the name of this Dabi person. Right now, he has to think about the fact some guy sensei wants him to meet is about to step foot in the bar, and apparently said guy is also going to live with them. Can’t he have his own place? Ugh.

So now, in all his glory, Tomura sat at the bar as he waited for Kurogiri to bring the guy over. How long is this going to take? It’s been minutes since Kurogiri left!

As soon as that thought came to Tomura the familiar portal from Kurogiri appeared, and the new guy, Dabi , stepped through. his eyes immediately checked out the place, all before landing on him. Dabi stares at Tomura, and not wanting to back down, he stares back as he stands up. They have a staring contest of some sort, their gazes never looking away until Kurogiri clears his throat. They both look at him.

“Dabi, this is Tomura Shigaraki. From today forward you two will be working together.” The mist man says, hands behind his back. He looks at Dabi the next time he speaks. “As much as you hate being ordered around, please don’t cause trouble.” Dabi clicks his tongue. “What is he going to do if I don't follow his orders? Throw those hands at me? Please, enlighten me.”

Tomura feels his level of annoyance going up already. Such an annoying new party member. “Follow orders and you won’t find out, bastard.” He says through his teeth. “Uh oh, did I upset you, boss ? I’m so sorry! Is what I would say if I cared.” The other smirks, finding enjoyment at how riled up Tomura gets from that. Kurogiri sighs. It’s like handling two children at once.

“You piece of–“ Tomura reaches a hand out and so does Dabi, both ready to hurt the other before their hands go through a portal. Tomura’s hands went out one way and Dabi’s went the other, flames coming out from them. Kurogiri , Tomura thought. He looks at the other man in the room, annoyance clear on his face.

Kurogiri doesn’t react to such a look. “Please don’t kill each other. Master wanted you both to meet for a reason, and would be very upset if you both ended up killing the other.”

taking his hands out from the portal he scoffs. “Whatever.” Such a pain , he thought. He doesn’t want to be around this bastard any longer than he has to.

Tomura turns his back to them both, and begins to walk up to his room. “I’m going to my room, don’t bother me.” He says with the wave of a hand, his other scratching his neck in irritation. Kurogiri sighed for what had to be the second time tonight behind him. “Alright, but don’t forget that in a few days Giran will be coming back with more recruits.” Tomura only grunts in reply, continuing his journey.

He can hear Dabi’s question of “The hell are you looking at me for?” behind him.

It was hours until Tomura came back downstairs to the bar. He had spent his time alone playing games in hopes of cooling down from his encounter with Dabi, and luckily it worked out.

When he reached the bottom step he looked around to see no sign of the man himself. Kurogiri wasn’t even there either. “Where the hell..” Tomura muttered, before his eyes landed on a note. He walks over to it, and reading it makes his irritation from earlier return.

taking mist-man out for a bit, hand-face. try not to miss us too much. - Dabi

Hand-face?! Who does that bastard think he is, disrespecting him like this?! With a scowl on his face Tomura balls up the note and throws it away. Well, since that fucker took Kurogiri away it’s just him for now. That’s fine, peachy, even.

The plus side of this is that at least it gives him more time away from Dabi. Ugh, thinking about him, the hell is his problem? Where did sensei even find a guy like this? He’s such a pain to deal with, dammit! All he’s done since he got there was shit talk him and call him names, and if it wasn’t for Kurogiri the bastard would be dust right now.

Tomura grumbles to himself as he makes his way to the couch and sits down. Well, at least the TV was still on. Maybe he can watch something. Now, just where is that remote… aha! There it is. Taking the remote off the couch with his pinky raised high, Tomura changes the channel. He goes past at least 10 channels before he finds one at least showing something interesting. This should keep him hooked for a while. At least before he goes back to playing games out of boredom.

—

Humming to himself in thought, Dabi looks around his old room once more, trying to think of what he may have missed or what else he wanted to take back to base. He knows he has his important items, plus some miscellaneous things he wanted to take with him, but was there anything else? From the looks of it, no, there wasn’t.

“Alright, I got all I need. Make a portal so we can head back, Misty.” After giving Kurogiri the word to make a portal back to the bar, Dabi grabs both duffel bags from their position on his old bed. Would he miss this place? Hell no. Sure Dabi’s stayed here since he was 17, which he only did because he didn’t want to live with the kids at the orphanage anymore, but he won't miss it.

With one last glance back, Dabi turns his back to the room and walks through the portal.

The second he steps back into the bar he notices Shigaraki, in all his glory, sitting at the couch watching TV. Well, more like playing a game with the TV as background noise. Dabi ignores the other in favor of walking upstairs to his new room. He can hear Kurogiri announce their arrival as he walks, but didn’t pay attention to hear what else was said.

He walks through the hall silently, hands in pockets as he searches for a room. If what Kurogiri said is true, there are many empty rooms to pick from. He already knows what room Shigaraki sleeps in due to Kurogiri telling him, so that at least eliminates one of the many options.

Dabi walks past many doors until he stands in front of one. This one sits at the very end of the hall. With a shrug, Dabi opens it and steps into the vacant room. It’s pretty plain; only a bed, nightstand, lamp, and closet, but what did he expect? At least there’s a bed he can sleep on. Placing the duffel bags down, he begins unpacking. Doesn’t take long, he didn’t really have much with him in the first place.

All he had to do was put his clothes into the closet, plug his phone in to charge, set his earbuds down on the nightstand, and finally place his toothbrush plus other essentials in the bathroom. That was pretty much it for the unpacking. Now to grab a bedsheet. Luckily he had packed his pillow and blanket, so he didn't need to worry about borrowing an extra. If he remembers correctly, Kurogiri also mentioned a storage closet in the hall…

He walks out of his room and goes up to where the closet should be, he opens the door and- aha! There it is. Once Dabi finds a bedsheet he grabs it and closes the closet, heading back to his room.

With this bedsheet now being placed on his bed, he is officially done. Well, he technically isn’t, he will be after he puts the pillow and blanket down, but he can do that later. For now, Dabi falls back onto the bed, staring up at the ceiling. Well, this will be interesting, won’t it? He just hopes whatever comes of this whole arrangement gets him closer to his goal. He’d be disappointed if not. Those newbie’s being brought in soon better not disappoint, either.

He can feel a smile creep onto his face. Vengeance will be so, so sweet. He almost couldn’t wait.

Dabi closes his eyes after that thought, and while giddy with anticipation for what’s to come, he falls into a peaceful sleep.

Notes:

As mentioned in the tags special thanks to my friend for beta-reading this for me! They're also writing their own story, so if you're into DSMP and Genshin feel free to read their story Under The Moonlit Sky by Otokipo! I should also mention the story is on hiatus at the moment, but still feel free to give it a read! They also have another story called Wishes, incase you like DSMP but not Genshin.

Another thing to note is that I really hope I nailed the first interaction for Dabi and Tomura down really well! I was basing it off of when They first met, so I'm hoping I got it right.

Last thing, feel free to talk to me here! I haven't uploaded anything due to not knowing what to post, but I'm free to talk about things! I will also be posting oneshots here and there too, so keep an eye out for those!
