Chapter Text
“I knew it was a bad idea to leave him alone…”Jackie grumbled, following Chris as he took point as usual.
Chris tensed but didn’t say a word, the gunshots getting closer as he sped up.
They needed to get back to Leon. He was almost so distracted by this driving force, that he almost missed movement out of the corner of his eye. Pushing Jackie out of the way a BOW lunged out at him from the darkness.
Jackie stumbled barely managing to keep her footing, turning to find Chris pinned under a gnashing snarling beast.
“Chris!” She called out moving towards him, her crowbar raised and posed to attack, but Chris stopped her.
“I’ve got this, go find Leon.” He told her kicking the BOW off of him with a heavy boot, she could see several more lumbering towards them out of the darkness.
“But-“Jackie started but Chris cut her off with a look telling her to just go with his eyes, “…don’t die okay!”
She ran down the hallway towards the source of the gunshots that had since died down, just praying she wasn’t too late.
Flying around a corner, she felt someone grab her arm pulling her against a warm and solid surface.
She almost cried out when a hand clamped over her mouth. Her eyes slowly trailed up the arm to find Leon’s face. The relief she felt was immediate but shortlived as she noticed he seemed…unfocused.
The intense heat coming off of his body was the next thing that she noticed. Leon’s body was too hot…far too hot for him to be in the right mindset.
Jackie winced as his grip tightened around her wrist anxiously as they hid in the shadows, listening. She was so close, that the only thing Jackie could hear was his heart hammering in his chest.
A sound caught his ears, and before Jackie knew what was happening she was being dragged down a dark hallway. He pulled her so hard that she was almost worried he was going to yank her arm out of her socket.
They came to a stop crouched behind a receptionist's desk.
Jackie strained her ears trying to hear whatever had Leon on edge, she almost missed it. The faint thumping of something heavy in the distance…footsteps.
It was too controlled to be any sort of BOW, it had to be Chris.
They were running from Chris, and she could only chalk it up to the unfocused look in Leon’s eye, that she caught only for a moment earlier. This time his hand wasn’t clamped over her mouth though.
“Leon-” Jackie hissed, glancing at the handgun resting heavily in his hand. Leon pressed a finger to his lips, unfocused eyes darting between her and the dark hallway.
She had to get his attention on her before Chris made it to them.
Jackie pulled her wrist out of Leon’s his grip on it loosening, taking his face in her hands and forcing him to look at her. “Leon look at me,” Jackie told him, staring into his eyes, “who am I?”
Leon searched her face with unfocused eyes, licking his dry lips. “Claire?” He croaked uncertainty. Her heart shattered in her chest finally understanding what was going on.
“Not Claire sweetie, it’s Jackie. ” She told him, carefully sliding the gun out of his loosened grip as Chris rounded the corner, “We’re not in Raccoon…haven’t been for a long time now.”

Chris rounded the corner, relaxing when he saw Jackie and Leon.
Watching as Jackie slid Leon’s gun from his hand, giving her a questioning look, but he kept his mouth shut knowing now wasn’t the time.
Jackie got Leon to his feet as Chris took point making sure the area ahead was clean before they proceeded back to the infirmary. He did a quick sweep of the area when they got there.
Chris took Leon’s other side helping Jackie get him settled in a bed, as Jackie got to work setting up an IV. “This is gonna sting a little…” She told him, making sure Leon saw the needle.
Leon barely reacted though still being pretty out of it.
“What is that stuff anyway?” Chris asked as she hooked up the IV bag.
“Mostly fluids, some heavy drugs that’ll hopefully get Leon back to feeling a little more human, something tells me things are only going to get worse from here.” Jackie said, hating that she had to do this but they didn’t have much of a choice if they wanted to get out of here.
“Where’s Geo?” Leon croaked, once he was a bit more coherent.
“Our signal got cut off…” Chris started to explain thinking that Leon had forgotten in his confusion but the other man interrupted him.
“No, the kid was here, he showed up a little after Chris left…” Leon frantically explained, dissolving into a fit of coughing.
Jackie felt sick. "What do you mean Geo's here, Leon what happened while we were gone?"
