Chapter Text
Mafuyu watched her newfound companions gulp down the food she gathered for them as she also put powder back on her skin, she almost marvelled at the aspect of organics truly existing. Mother always told the gems that anything organic is flawed and weak, naturally, everything flawed and weak will be exterminated via natural selection, right? Seeing Mizuki and Kanade in their already weakened state, not giving up on even surviving despite being reduced to slithering slimy blob creatures and even helping a possibly hostile stranger left her feeling conflicted about the things she was previously taught, is this just pure stupidity or are they stronger than Mafuyu thought?
Like the brush she used to adorn her skin, her train of thought again wandered, Mother said that there are two types of living beings in the world, organics and inorganics. Organics are made of matter that contains carbon and are therefore weak, but a diamond, which is made of 99.9% carbon is strong, wait, how would that even work—
No, Mafuyu is doubting her Mother’s perfect teachings again. It’s the reason why she’s even exiled into the wild, the purple gem forcibly shut down her train of thought. Another mistake like this will get her shattered and not put together again.
She was snapped back into reality when a soft appendage poked at her newly powdered white skin. “Maaaaafuyuuuuuuuu….”
“Mafuyuuuuuuuuuu!” Mizuki yelped, trying to get the gem’s attention.
The purple diamond immediately jumped as a reaction to Mizuki’s yelling, “Yes?”
“Look at the sky! What is that?”
There was a dangerous glint in Mafuyu’s eyes upon gazing upon the “thing in the sky”, she knew exactly what it was.
It was a sunspot, the sunspot that took Ena away.
Lunarians have always been peculiar creatures. In most cases, they were only hostile if the gems attacked first, and once a plan to get Mother was established, they would cease attack. It’s almost as if they had some kind of relationship with her.
The most frightful part of the Lunarians, is if they actually wanted to attack, they will certainly win. But there was a caveat, every time a gem was taken away, the sunspot encounter was always dealt by the gem alone. So when Ena and Mafuyu saw a sunspot come, they were a bit confident that the Lunarians will be defeated in no time.
They were wrong and the gem could only hopelessly watch as the sunspot departed with Ena’s shards.
Mafuyu froze in terror as she stared at the approaching sunspot, recalling the memories from that day. She stood still, if she was less sturdy, she would be trembling. The purple gem watched as the faces of the Lunarians came into view, she wanted to turn their smiling faces into dust.
Unlike all of the other times, the Lunarians prepared to shoot as soon as the sunspot stopped moving. Mafuyu braced to fight, but then she saw their bows drift towards the two Admirabilis.
The Lunarians are not hostile to Mafuyu, they only wanted the two Admirabilis. Mafuyu can just walk off and she would be safe, and she won’t end up like Ena. Mother said that weak creatures do not deserve to be protected, Mafuyu only gave the two food because it was thanks for putting her back together. These two have no relation to Mafuyu at all.
So, why is she jumping to shield them from the deadly arrows of the Lunarians?
The purple gem inwardly shuddered after hearing herself crack and shatter, her sturdiness caused her to only suffer surface level trauma. She quickly got back on her feet and looked for anything she could use as makeshift weapons. It was to her disappointment that there wasn’t anything there, she slammed her hand towards a rock and watched it break off in a sharp angle to the chagrin of Mizuki. That will do for now.
The Lunarians keep shooting, but Mafuyu only dodged their shots or blocked them with her body, never attacking back. She diligently watched the sunspot— Oh, saw it.
She narrowed her eyes at her target — the central moon person to determine the strength of her throw, and used her remaining attached hand to throw her severed hand at it.
Mafuyu watched as the sunspot dispersed, and her severed hand fell down into the grass.
“Mafuyu! What’s this?” The two Admirabilis slithered up to the gem, with Mizuki’s front appendages pointing towards the bottle Kanade was holding.
The purple diamond picked up the small glass bottle and opened up the cap, it was full of a colourless liquid, yet it smelled familiar.
“Are these… inclusions?”
