Chapter Text

Hunter had been searching the once full streets of Bonesborough along with his friends(plus Camila). He was on high alert as anything could jump out and catch all of them off guard.

Seeing those witches as mindless puppets had really messed with his head. He saw a few familiar faces from his previous trip to Hexside. He saw Willow’s dad, he looked like a child’s drawing. The kind a parent would temporarily hang on the fridge till the kid forgot about it.

He wondered how they’d ended up like that, that didn’t matter right now, though. He just had to focus on making sure whatever that was wouldn’t happen to any of them.

Where was he? He could’ve sworn he was at New Hexside with Luz. Why was he in a closed in area? How did he even get here? Unfortunately, Hunter didn’t have more time to think as his eyelids started to feel heavy. His eyes closed and he drifted back into his slumber.

Luz ran up to the crew, rambling, “Heyyy— oh my gosh— is everyone okay? I’m fine! That fight with Kikimora was barely a few minutes, she didn’t do much—“, she stopped. “Uhm, guys.. where’s Hunter?”

”We swear he was with us a few seconds ago!” yelled Gus, “ I saw him, I swear I did!”

Willow joined in, “We’ve gotta find him, he can’t be far!.”

Now, the search for Hunter had begun. Luz was the most determined of all, determined her find her new found brother.

Hunter awoke with a start. Immediately, thoughts surrounding his location clouded his head. Where was he this time? How did he get here, anyways?

He took a second to take in his surroundings, realization hitting. He was back in Bonesborough. How? He was just at New Hexside, then a dark place, and now here. Whatever had brought him here really needed to make up their mind on where to put him.

Hunter pushed himself to his feet. He struggled as his legs felt weak. He still felt groggy, had someone used a sleep spell on him? Whatever, it doesn’t matter now, he just needs to find his friends again.

Swoosh

Hunter heard the familiar rustle of the collectors spies. Skara had warned them about the star-shaped menaces. He had to hide, fast.

He quickly dashed, running in whatever direction he could. Eventually, he stumbled upon an abandoned residence. He quickly opened the wooden door that led inside and shut it.

It was dark inside the house. Of course it was, it was literally abandoned. Hunter took a step forward, he looked down as he stepped on a thin, nearly invisible, string.

”Ah!,” he yelped, being pulled into a sack by the set up contraption. Great. How was he supposed to find Luz if he was stuck in a huge bag.

Hunter froze as he heard heavy footsteps coming towards him. “—olf, be careful, we don’t know who or what is in that sack,” said a muffled, familiar voice. He swore he knew that voice, he just couldn’t put his finger on it. He heard an animal chitter in response.

He let out a small yell as the sack was slashed open by dangerously sharp claws. He looked up to meet the bright green, recognizable eyes of the Abomination Coven Head (alongside Eberwolf).

”Da- Darius!”, Hunter managed to spit out.

“Hunter, where have you been?”, Darius asked, “I’ve been looking everywhere for you!”

”I—,”

Hunter didn’t get a chance to finish his sentence as he was pulled into a warm embrace by Darius. “Titan, kid, I missed you,” Darius spoke as Eberwolf brushed up to Hunter’s leg.

Darius broke the hug, hands now cupping Hunter’s face. “What happened to you? What happened to your eyes? Why do you have more scars?”

”Im fine,” said Hunter, pulling his face away. “I was in the human realm with Luz and,” he paused, “It’s a long story, I swear I’ll explain everything later.”

As long as pup is okay, story not important right now.” Eberwolf chuffed.

“Yes, right now is not the time, but promise me you’ll tell me later?” Darius said.

Hunter nodded,”Yeah, I’ll tell you. But first, I need to find my friends, remember my flyer derby team?” Darius smiled, signaling he did remember.

”Alright kid, let’s go find your little friends.” Darius replied, ruffling Hunters messy, blonde locks. Hunter giggled.

”Okay, stop. Let’s go.” he smiled up at the older man, then at the small beast.

Hunter was glad he’d walked into this particular house. He’d found some known people. Even if they weren’t the kindest to him back at the coven, he was just glad they could be on better terms now.

Hunter took a deep breath in, then out, preparing to leave the former home. Hand in hand with Darius, Eberwolf at his ankles, the three exited the house and set on their way to get Hunter back with his friends.
