Chapter Text
Rexy yawned as the morning sun shone its rays through the thick cover of greenery that she was sleeping behind. Groggily, she got to her feet and stretched her tail - and by extension, her whole body. A low growl to her left caused her to turn and face her sister, the Doe. This was the first morning in countless years that Rexy would wake up with her siblings once more. The two rumbled to each other in greeting, before they locked necks and torsos in a massive, friendly embrace. (Picture the T-Rex Socializing Animation from Jurassic World Evolution 2).
As Rexy followed the Doe, her unspoken questions as to where the Buck was were answered. He was looking over the river in the Valley, surveying the herds of potential prey items. Parasaurolophus sought refuge amongst the colossal Dreadnoughtus. Iguanodon grazed alongside browsing Sinoceratops and Triceratops. A bonanza of choices.
He turned at the sound of the thumping footsteps that signaled the arrival of his mate and sister. He nuzzled the Doe affectionately, before nuzzling Rexy in greeting. The three Rexes then fixed their eyes on the herds of plant-eaters before them. Rexy could feel her blood seething in excitement. She had managed to sustain herself with the Giganotosaurus carcass and the Gallimimus and Parasaurolophus, but due to her advanced age she couldn’t find the strength to tackle any of the more well-defended herbivores. With the Buck and Doe at her side now, however, the time was ripe to up their game.

The T-Rex Buck gave a thunderous roar as he charged out of his hiding place, latching his jaws around the exposed neck of the Triceratops. The Trike roared in agony as the Buck sunk his 13-inch serrated teeth into its neck and spinal cord, penetrating through the thick layers of muscle and bone in an overpowering, shattering bite.
SNAP!
The Triceratops fell to the ground, dead, and the Buck, Doe and Rexy gave off triumphant roars at their successful hunt.
As the three dug into the carcass, tearing out massive chunks of flesh and bone, a giant carnivore with an elongated, crocodilian snout and a massive sail on its back stopped to watch them warily. It could tell that each of these powerful competitors were old, yet they still had enough fight left in them to potentially kill him if they chose. And there were three of them - one of which (the green bull, if he remembered correctly) he had challenged in his youth and had lost spectacularly.
Growling slightly in frustration, he made his way towards the river. As old as they were, he was old too, and couldn’t risk another potentially fatal battle with them. He’d be much better off hunting the fish in the river.
