It’s been a while, more so, a couple of days since that encounter with Kunikuzushi. After school essay work has been more awkward than it already was because now, all that can roam through your head is how badly you wanna know more about the situation but now your only source of answer doesn’t even wanna be seen with you. Not only that, but you’ve also noticed that Kunikuzushi has been staying at school, well you suppose in the study hall or library, more often. It’s not like you cared about what he does anyway. But do you?
. . . .
“And then she said that I’m the easiest person to scare! How offensive.” Your friend, Xiangling, complained to you about HuTao after school.
“I mean, she isn’t lying, Xi. You are pretty easy to scare.” Shrugging and laughing, the two of you walked out of the school front yard after school club activities.
You and Xiangling said your goodbyes before parting ways. Finally, the end of the hellhole also known as school! Despite the pile of worksheets you have to do for your after-school extracurricular, you’re ready to go home and sleep the day away. Not really, though, because you still have to get good grades from your assingments.
That aside, you’re just really ready to go home. And also because you want your parents to sign a field trip slip for your Geology class. Your class will be visiting a geology exhibit on Yashiori Island. This will be the first field trip you would have in high school ever since forever so you’re pretty hyped. Hopefully, nothing goes wrong.
So as you’re walking into your neighborhood, the only thing you can think about is all of the possibilities during the field trip. Honestly, you’re quite literally acting like a little child right now but you haven’t had a trip in ages. And to add on, your friend YunJin will also be there since she’s in your class too!
You just know that you’ll have a lot of fun for the first time this semester. You’re really grateful YunJin is in Geology too because you’d probably pass away in loneliness. Truth be told, it’s quite shocking for others – her choir classmates – when they’re told that someone with a voice as heavenly as YunJin’s is interested in the study of the rather dangerous world.
With those thoughts boiling in your mind, you unlocked the front door to your house with your keys.
Kunikuzushi!? What’s he doing here?
“Oh, dear, you’re home! Me and Kunikuzushi are just putting away groceries. This kid is really helpful!” Your mom praised with a thoughtful smile as you set your bag down.
They put away the last couple of groceries before Kunikuzushi unexpectedly harshly gripped your wrist and dragged you to your bedroom without a word exchanged.
“Why didn’t you fucking tell me you had club activities after school today!? Let alone that you’d be gone for another two hours, asshole??” Kunikuzushi scolded while scowling.
“Jeez, you and those rude ass words, there’s not one day you aren’t yelling at me like I cracked your ribs.” You shot back, crossing your arms at his regular but still violent behavior.
“Whatever, I don’t get how people tolerate as idiotic and annoying as you. Just so you know, we have three days until this essay is gonna be turned in.” He rambled at you a bit more.
Though Kunikuzushi sounds stupid insulting you like that, you were still taken aback by him. As much as you tried to shake the words off, they went straight into your head. So before you could even consult with him a bit more, Kunikuzushi had already walked off and out of the room.
He left you stunned in place, as per usual, but when he surprisingly came back into your room, he shoved his part of the essay into your arms. Perhaps, you’ve been familiar with these course of actions he does ever since the teacher assigned you together four days prior.
“I’ve already finished my part of the project so it’s all up to you for our collaboration grade.” Honestly, can this guy get any more prideful?
“Alright, I’ll try to get it finished within two days so we can go over them both together before it’s due.” You sighed, giving in to his rather determined academic acts. You’ve probably underestimated him.
It was already getting into the depths of the night, and Kunikuzushi was already packing up home. You heard him and your mom talking faintly whereas you read through his section of the essay thoroughly. That’s when you heard the front door shut while the house became quiet. Pretty short interaction if you say so yourself.
Through the dim light, you set the paper aside and sighed, wondering how this kid could be so difficult. Sure, he’s pretty and hushed for the most part, and also a genius, you can give him that credit. But you’re only grateful that he chooses to be silent because once he opens that mouth… It’s like he was born to shoot out insults and complaints.
You’re not sure how someone who could undoubtfully be popular chooses to be the most ignorant person ever. A few times, you’ve seen him tease other kids down the hall, harassing them to be exact.
But it’s no matter to you with what he decides to do with his life. Speaking logically, you’ve never directly paid attention to him. Kunikuzushi has never been in the spotlight of everyone. He has always been in a corner or behind everyone, hiding. It’s like he’s invisible to the others. Hell, some people might not even know they’ve had a classmate named Kunikuzushi.
Wait.
Why the fuck are you thinking about him?! More so, interested in his way of living. Surely, you’ve grown too fond of him just by these couple of days working with him. But you’re just too intrigued by his way mysterious high school life.
Someone who’s the complete opposite of the rest of the high school students. Your curiosity only enlarges as you remember that he has something associated with you, too. He sure can catch your eye the more you pay more notice to him.
So…
Yeah, I’ve definitely grown too fond of him.
