I Did It For The Moon

Summary:

Tommy is content with the life he lives, its calm and chaotic living with his brother. The towns people see them as too loud and charismatic, and even annoying, but he knows they love him. But there’s something about the forest he lives near that brings odd sensations into his soul. Like he’s been there before, but not in this life. And he needs to figure out why, and what happened.

Chapter 1: Bryniau

Chapter Text

The sky was a gentle navy, bringing out the sharp glitters of the stars that watched over the blonde so carefully, and the earth he sat on. He lay on his back, feeling the nighttime breeze carefully on his pale skin, crusted with few nicks from the day of playing. And his afternoon of mining. He glanced at the earth beside him, where the hills lay unmoving. As they always did, except for special times. He felt like the hills sang to him. They were fascinating. Everybody thought he was weird for his innate love for the hills, but there was something about them that made them feel… Unreal. There was something hidden inside of them, but not in a physical way, in a mental way. It was connected to his brain in ways he couldn’t even fathom it seemed. As  a child he thought it was because he was a chosen one, a hero, but it proved to be wrong as he lived on. He and his brother would  walk the lands, all alone, with few friends, and fewer enemies. Their lives were basic and boring, no adventure in them. He felt like there was something missing, and nobody else did. His brother thought that  it made no sense. They left in the morning, had freedom till dawn, and had hours of jokes and fun till they went to bed at midnight.

“What more could you want? The Hills do what? What do they do for you? They do nothing but sit there. I’m all for comfortable seating, but in the end they’re just grass.”

“They are not just hills. There is something about them I can’t… I just don’t know how to describe it. It’s this feeling. It’s like  Deja vu. it feels familiar.”

“Uh Huh,” His brother said with a raised eyebrow, before rolling his eyes and walking away towards their house. The moon was the last friend Tommy had that would stay by him. Every night he began to lay down on the hills to try and find the hidden meaning, the great secret they carried. But he was left with nothing. Like last night, like tonight, and probably like tomorrow. No answers left, just more questions. He turned towards the flora beside him, a dandelion. He picked it and raised it to his nose as a gust of gentle wind blew behind him. The grass gently blew, and there it was. The same image. Of a flag high in the sky. It kept echoing through his brain when he would sit down. The earth beneath his palms. It wavered in the sky, before something would go wrong, and it would be torn and dark, then it would fly high again, damaged, but still standing, Then it was down, followed by a flash of white. It was the same scene that would play in his head, it would never stop. But he had to know what it meant. Why it only happened here, why the hills kept calling to him what any of it meant. But he had never gotten farther than the vision. But this time, he began to walk forward. Maybe if he found where the flag poll had been planted, he could find the flag. He wasn’t too sure what the flag would be, but he had to do something if it was so important. His footsteps echoed flatly on the soft dirt of the forest land around his home. Tubbo is probably so pissed right now , he thought to himself, though his stride never wavered as he walked. He just kept going forward. He picked up a torch from the path that lit up the forest to prevent the undead that lurked in the woods. He clutched it till the ash began to appear on his fingertips. He looked down, the soot stained his fingers and palm. He shook his head slightly in annoyance, He’d have to really scrub his hands later. The atmosphere changed. Suddenly the  sense of familiarity came back, he stared at his finger as they began to shift. They were still his hands with his short fingernails and rough skin, but now it was scraped and scared. The ground became gray and dull,  lanterns and stone  lined the walls. He was wearing a bandana. As he began to search the room he realized he was covered in dirt and muck. His knuckles were bloodied and his hands shook as he held them out.

The entire world was suddenly falling/ The walls warped and the floor disintegrated, before it all ceased to exist. His eyes were wide as he felt all the arms be pulled out of his lungs and the world was replaced with the one he was familiar with/ The leaves around him crunched softly as his knees hit the ground. He felt so frail, but this had to mean it was working. His hands clutched the ground, the torch was roughly shoved into the ground to keep it upright. He stared at the ground, unable to understand what had just happened. Where had he gone? What- what was happening?

“Tommy! Where are you?”

His head jolted upward on account of his name. Tommy’s legs didn't want to move though, his vocal cords were paralyzed in fear. But even though his legs were jello, he was able to sit back on his knees and pick himself up, piece by piece. When he was finally able to stand after a few seconds, he ran. His footsteps were hard on the ground, giant thumps that sounded like nothing compared to the sound of his heart beat pounding in his head. The woods were enclosing him, and Tommy never was a fan of tight spaces. His breath was becoming quicker and quicker as he sprint became more and more unorganized. Jesus, how far did I walk? Tommy could’ve sworn he was a few steps away from the hills, not enough to take this long. The light of their house was beginning to shine through the windows of the trees, the biggest relief of Tommy’s life, which is no understatement. As he curved towards the house and ran into the front door, he shut it with a loud bang, trying to slow his breath enough to function like a normal human being. His chest was expanding up and down with the rhythm of his heart. He was relieved to be finally home until he noticed a figure sitting at the kitchen table, with brown fluffy hair and two horns. Uh oh.

“Do you have any idea,” The brunette sniffled, “How worried I was?” The distress clear in his voice

“”Tubs, man, I- I'm really sorry, But you’ll never believe what I saw.”

The young man got up furiously and spun around to face the blonde. Tears streamed down his cheeks, making his face pink and his eyes puffy. His hair was unkempt, clearly pulled  at. That was enough to shut the blonde up.

“What Tommy? What did you see?” He yelled, his hands clutching his shirt to calm himself down. Tommy was still speechless.

“I don’t understand, I was only gone for like, a few hours-”

‘Tommy, you’ve been gone for three days.”

I- what
