Chapter Text
“Derek!” Stiles shouts as he wakes up, he would’ve sat up, but something rather heavy is laying on top of him.
“Why’re you screaming my brother’s name so early in the morning?” asks a grumbled voice coming from the body currently pinning him to the bed.
Stiles flushes, mind definitely not going to the other reasons why he’d be screaming that name. He gets redder. He couldn’t have been. Sure, his dream about Peter and Laura had been accurate, but that definitely couldn’t have been Derek Hale.
Though… he could see the family resemblance.
“Is there a reason you're sleeping on me?” Stiles asks, surprisingly not uncomfortable.
“You’re pack. When in new territory packs sleep together until we’ve adjusted. It’s safer.”
Stiles just nods. The bond between them feels warm and comforting. “Yeah I guess that makes sense. I’m surprised I didn’t wake up to you snoring.” Laura growls but Stiles can tell it’s harmless. He chuckles quietly. “Well, as much as I like cuddles with beautiful older women, I have to get ready for school.”
Laura grumbles but rolls off him. He gets up quickly, grabbing some clothes before slipping into his bathroom to take a shower.
Standing under the hot water he can’t help but think back to his dream. No, that was definitely Derek Hale. He’s pretty sure that must be what real Derek looks like, because his mom always said once is an accident, twice is a coincidence, and three times, it’s a pattern. Though, he hadn’t tried pulling the others into his dream. Maybe Derek will recognize him like Laura did.
He dresses in another plain t-shirt that fits him too well, and a pair of jeans that are pre-distressed. (“Why would I get pre-distressed jeans when I know I’m going to do the same to a pair of regular jeans?” “You have a point, but I’m going to ignore it.”)
Stiles comes out of the bathroom and Laura is bundled up under his covers, face planted into his pillow. “Your brother called last night.” He grabs the phone from his side table and tosses it onto the bed next to her. “I answered it because he called seven times and if it were Allison trying to get ahold of me, I’d want someone to let her know I’m okay. I tried to wake you but you sleep like the dead.”
Laura’s head pops up, grabbing her phone and sending a quick text. “Ah, yeah, thanks. When you have enhanced hearing and live in a shitty New York apartment, you learn how to sleep through anything.” She gives him a suggestive leer. “Is that why you were dreaming about him? Did ya like his voice that much?”
Stiles flushes. “No! That’s not- He’s- I saw him in the white room!”
Laura smiles. “You are too fun to tease.”
Stiles grumbles about annoying Alphas and leaves the room to make breakfast for everyone.
Allison’s already in the kitchen when he arrives, making parfaits.
Stiles kisses the side of her head before grabbing a fourth glass and placing it next to the others.
She gives him a curious look, but starts spooning yogurt into it.
He grabs the berries to start rinsing. “How was hanging out with Lydia and Jackson?”
Allie blushes, but her smile is undeniable. “It was a lot of fun. Lydia’s really cool. She’s super smart and really attentive. How did things go at the hospital?”
Stiles pauses a moment before handing her the granola. “Well, werewolves are real.”
Allie doesn’t drop the box, but it’s close. She takes a steadying breath. “And how’d you figure that out?”
“Peter’s one. His alpha/niece came in while I was visiting. Luckily she recognized me from a dream.”
“I called it. Prophetic dreams!” Allie nudges him with shoulder, giving him a warm smile. “Did you guys manage to figure out who was poisoning him?”
“There’s a suspect, but we’re letting the police handle it. It’s most likely a hunter.”
“Like someone who specifically hunts werewolves?”
“Most likely, but it could be a general supernatural hunter.”
“Wait, are you in danger then?”
Stiles shrugs. “Possibly, but I think being magic is a little easier to hide than claws and fangs. Anyway, Laura, the alpha, is staying with us and…”
Allison puts down two of the parfaits on the table for her and Stiles. “And what?”
“Your mom, and the Argents are hunters. Though Chris is retired and my mom came from a hunter family but she called herself a protector. Apparently there’s a code they follow, but some hunters go rogue like Gerard and most likely Kate.”
Allison drops her spoon and stares at the table. “My mom?”
“Follows the code, but believes supernaturals are lesser.”
Allison closes her eyes and takes a deep breath before opening them again, looking determined. “Well, Mom thinks everyone is lesser. At least she’s not hurting innocent people. What’s Laura like? What does an alpha do?”
Stiles motions for her to start eating again and she gives him a small smile. “I only learned a little about werewolves yesterday, but the Alpha’s apparently in charge. It’s similar to that old study on captive wolves. Laura though, she’s really cool. Very tactile and warm. Being around her just feels right. She called me her emissary, which I’m going to have to look into, but, like, she’s kind of super chill unless something’s going down. Then you can totally see why she’s Alpha.”
“Thanks for that glowing review.” Laura says, coming in the room and messing up Stiles hair when she takes a seat next to him.
“Hey! No!” Stiles tries to fix the mess she made while he gets her parfait from the counter.
Allison laughs. “Nice to meet you, I’m Allison.”
Laura smiles. “Alpha Hale, if you want to be official, but you can call me Laura.”
Allie beams and even Laura seems taken in by the Disney Princess charms.
Stiles puts Laura’s cup in front of her before retaking his seat. “How’s Derek this morning?”
“Derek?” Allie asks.
“My little brother.” Laura explains, taking a bite of her parfait. She moans. “This is so fuckin’ good. Der’s fine, he was a bit confused at first, but I told him about the dreams and who you are. He actually didn’t complain about coming back once during the call.”
Stiles blushes. “Oh, cool.”
Allison gives Stiles the Argent eyebrow.
“I had another dream last night and met Derek. He’s…”
“Grumpy.” Laura says.
That explains the grumpy cat pic. “I was gonna say interesting, but yeah.”
“Interesting like that sweet guy you met in Mystic Falls or interesting like that guy you met at Oktoberfest in Pennsylvania?”
Stiles flushes, mumbling, “the guy from Oktoberfest.” The adds, defensively. “But he might be interesting like the guy from Mystic Falls too! I haven’t had a proper conversation with him yet.”
“Yeah that’s probably not gonna happen.” Laura says, scraping her spoon against the bottom of her empty glass. “Der is the equivalent of every brooding hero ever written.”
Allie giggles. “At least he’s the hero. Stiles tends to go for the villains.”
“That’s not true! I go for the anti-hero! Or reformed villains. You can’t blame me! Tom Hiddleston and Ryan Reynolds are hot! Even with the Deadpool makeup.”
“Remind me not to show you pictures of Peter growing up. You may fall in love. He’s always been a bit morally grey.”
Stiles blushes. He feels like he’s been turned into a tomato this morning. Curse his pale skin and easily identifiable pooling of blood. Though… she’s probably not wrong. Peter is pretty, even with his burns. Plus there’s just something about… not important. He puts his spoon in his empty cup and takes it to the sink. “Anyway! I’m going to check on Chris before we head out.”
Allie looks worried but he gives her a reassuring smile.
“I’m assuming you’re going straight to the hospital Laura?” Stiles asks.
She nods. “Yeah. I want to spend as much time with Peter as possible. Would you mind stopping by again after school? It’s nice that he can communicate through you.”
“I was planning on it already, so no problem. Want me to bring you lunch?”
“I will love you forever.” Laura says solemnly.
Stiles chuckles. “Okay I’ll see you then. Do you want to drive today, Allie A?”
“Sure, I’ll grab my stuff.”
Stiles bobs his head before heading upstairs. He knocks lightly on Chris’ door, but when there’s no response, he quietly slips inside. Chris is asleep still so Stiles just refills the glass of water on his nightstand and places a bottle of ibuprofen next to it.
Laura’s already left when he gets downstairs and Allie’s waiting for him. She hands him his backpack.
“You’re going to tell me everything on the ride to school, and you’re buying me coffee.”
Stiles sighs. “Yeah, okay.”
