Chapter Text
After they ate cookies, Shae and Esmeray decided to go out and explore the nearby forest, hopefully, to find Jewelian and her new friend.

Jewelian watched as Onyx climbed trees. She showed no fear of getting hurt. Jewelian wished she could be like her. Onyx is so cool. Jewelian will never be like her. Suddenly, Onyx fell in front of Jewelian and stared at her with her head tilted to the side.
"Are you okay?" Onyx asked. Jewelian looked down at her. "Y-yeah- I'm fine..." Jewelian stuttered. Onyx grabbed her hand and dragged her around the forest. "Do you know your way around here?" Onyx asked. Jewelian looked around and shook her head. Onyx looked down at the ground. "I think we're lost." She said casually. Jewelian turned to her and started to panic, "What do you mean we're lost?! Oh please no I need to go home soon!" She began to tear up. Onyx stared at her, "Hey- Hey Jewel we'll be fine, we just need to keep walking, we'll find our way eventually." She calmly reassured her.
Clearly, it didn't work because Jewelian cried more. "NO THIS IS HOW WE WILL END. PERISH. DIE. BE GONE-" Jewelian's dramatic speech was interrupted by Onyx slapping her hand over her mouth. "Will you shut up? I said we'll be fine!" Onyx shouted but quickly stopped when she saw Jewelian's face. It was red and her blue eyes were filled with fear. She took her hand off, "...Sorry." She muttered. Jewelian just walked away.
"Hey, wait for me!" Onyx shouted. She quickly caught up with her. They find a bridge with a river underneath. "Oh wow, it's pretty!" Jewelian smiled down at the river. She felt herself leaning towards the edge to get a better look at the water. It's sparkly. So clear and such a deep blue. Onyx grabbed her and glared at her, "Be careful! You almost fell in!" She yelled. "I-I'm sorry! I didn't mean to! I just wanted to look at the water-" Jewelian was interrupted, "Don't do that ever again!" Onyx yelled again. Jewelian stared at her. "Ok, sorry.." She whispered.

"Uncle Esme, where are they? We've been looking forever!" Shae groaned. Esmeray kept walking. He had a determined look on his face. "If I were your sister, then I'd probably just be sitting near that one bridge. I do like to sit there when I'm stressed. Ah- But that doesn't matter, let's just go find her."
Esmeray turned and they both were at the bridge. Jewelian looked up at them and burst out crying while she ran toward them. Shae was going to yell at her for leaving for so long but stopped himself. Jewelian almost knocked him over as she hug tackled him. He hugged her back. "I'm sorry we were gone for so long...We...We got l-lost..." She said. Shae held her tighter. She must've been so scared. "It's okay, Jewel. It's okay." He reassured her. "I'm glad you're okay, Jewelian." Esmeray kneeled to her level and combed down her hair with his fingers.
"Alright, let's go." Esmeray said and took Jewelian and Shae's hands. "Uncle Esme, I don't need you to hold my hand I can walk on my own, you know?" Shae shook his hand away. "Oh- Sorry...I just uh- Wanted to make sure you didn't get lost. Alright, fine. Bye." Esmeray waved slowly and walked away with Jewelian.
"Hey."
Shae almost screamed at Onyx because she popped up out of nowhere. "I- uh- crap...What was your name again?" He asked bluntly. Onyx looked at him with a slightly annoyed expression. "I'm Onyx. Onyx Soniva! I thought you'd remember!" She crossed her arms over each other and pouted. Shae shrugged. "Sorry, you just don't seem how do you say..." He paused for dramatic reasons. "R e m e m b e r a b l e." He grinned. Onyx's face dropped. Wow, that was actually really mean, he could admit. He could at least be appreciative that she kept his sister from dying or getting hurt. Shae coughed. "Ahem, sorry. Thank you for making sure my sister didn't fall on her face and stuff." He said. Onyx looked back at the bridge. "Uh...yeah...No problem." She replied. While she was looking back Shae's face went extremely red. He almost cried. What is this- "We gotta go." Shae grabbed Onyx's hand and led her back to Esmeray's cottage.
Jewelian nervously grinned, "Are you ready to go?" She asked Shae. He sighed, "Can't we pleeaseee just stay?" He asked Esmeray desperately. "Sorry kids, but I got to go do stuff later." Esmeray replied. "...Okay fine, let's go Jewelian." Shae grabbed Jewelian's hand and walked away. "Bye Uncle Esme!" They both said. "Bye, love you!" Esmeray smiled.
Oh boy, the siblings were in for a treat when they got home. Little did they know, someone was following them.
