Notes:

I'm really sorry for making you wait so long for this chapter guys, but college was really stressing me out and taking away most of my time.
Summer started though and I managed to pass all my exams which means I have three months to focus on nothing else besides writing and that's exactly what I'm planning on doing :)
I hope you enjoy this chapter and as always your support is more that welcome !

Chapter Text

The pink haired man woke up with a loud gasp. Quickly sitting up in his desk chair he glanced around himself, for a few short moments confused about the absence of the stream and small brown haired boy. He felt like he was back in the past, reliving that terrible moment again as he felt a heavy feeling inside his stomach reminding him that it wasn’t just a dream. That really happened. Maybe not all of it, but the point was there.

Shuddering in his seat, Jimin wrapped his arms around himself, instinctively rubbing his shoulders, trying to stop shivering both from the cold and the dread that suddenly filled his body. A tingling feeling spiked underneath his skin, traveling towards his heart as the Omega sighed, trying to think about something happier. Unfortunately, nothing was coming to his mind except short flashes of his dream, making everything worse.

“It was just a dream, Jimin.” He whispered to himself, closing his eyes and thinking about his parents. He forgot that they went back home maybe an hour ago to make dinner. The pink haired man was supposed to finish the necklace, but he fell asleep and now he would have to work even more tomorrow.

“Great.” Jimin muttered angrily, feeling dried out blood in the corner of his lips. He quickly wiped it off, a small frown rising on his face as annoyance pumped his blood when he remembered all the things he had to do. First he has to check if his parents even locked the shop and then make sure that nothing was stolen. After that he has to clean the back room and the Omega dread doing it just by looking around himself. There were many little things that needed his immediate attention and the pink haired man was mad that he didn’t stay asleep for a little while longer.

With a small sigh he got up, his chair scraping against the soft carpet that his mother placed there so it doesn’t ruin the floor. Cursing underneath his breath he realized his parents didn’t lock the door and now he has to check the money and the jewelry for any missing pieces. The entire process took him longer than he thought and by the end he was hungry and pissed off and he had no will to clean the back room.

“I’ll clean it tomorrow.” Jimin said to himself, stepping out in the early night before locking the door behind himself. The Omega didn’t even make two steps away from the shop before he was turning around and making sure that the door was really locked. Once it didn’t budge no matter how hard he twisted the doorknob he nodded, making his way away from the shop all over again.

Taking in a deep breath he felt how colder it was outside as wind ruffled his head to the side, a few pink strands tickling his nose and making him even angrier. He adored cold weather and this period of the year, but right now he couldn’t find it in himself to enjoy anything before he put something in his stomach. He was terribly hungry and his stomach wouldn’t stop growling from the moment he woke up.

Walking between the houses and greeting a few people that didn’t bother even looking up at him. Jimin simply ignored their behavior, taking the fastest route towards his home. Most of his pack members weren’t really fond of him, especially Alphas.

The Omega didn’t mind it much. Most of the time it was easy to ignore them and focus on his work and career, but there were moments in his day where loneliness would creep up on him and he would wish for someone to be by his side. Anyone, apart from his parents of course.

Jimin knew he would always have them by his side. He couldn’t say the same about anyone else because there was no one else in his life.

Which was… sad, now when Jimin really thought about it.

“It’s fine.” The Omega whispered to himself, his voice getting lost in the wind as he reassured his heart over and over again that the right person would come around. It was only a matter of time.

Briskly moving over the pack territory, hoping he doesn’t meet anyone who might want to strike a conservation with him. Those pack members were rare, but there were still some who wanted to give their opinion on certain jewelry pieces and what he should do with the next one. It was tiring, constantly having to nod his head and act like their ideas were revolutionary when most of them were similar to what he had already made or impossible to make with current instruments and tools. They refuse to accept it though and instead act like they’re experts in his own craft.

Jimin could deal with all of them though and it was nothing that he usually loses his sleep over.

Except for one person.

There was one person that rarely leaves Jimin’s mind and no matter how hard the Omega tries to, he can't forget about him.

Usually because he’s always somewhere. Lingering on the edges of Jimin’s mind and waiting for the Omega to be completely defenseless before showing up, stabbing Jimin’s conscience with a sly blade over and over again.

One would expect Jimin to already be used to it, but he can’t say that he is.

How can one get used to something like that?

Speaking of the devil. Jimin, it seems, can never catch a break.

There he was, sitting  in the grass, leaning on his hands, a small smile adoring his face as he stared down at the pretty Omega lying on his lap. Even from where Jimin was standing he could see the necklace he made resting on the Omega’s fair neck, fitting him perfectly. Jungkook chose well. The necklace was truly perfect for Haneul.  And Haneul was perfect for Jungkook.

Jimin should be happy for them. He is happy for them. At least he hoped.

“Jimin!” A voice called for him, bringing him out of his thoughts as he blinked a few times, his mind coming back down from the clouds. Once he remembered where he was and how someone called his name, did he glance around, trying to figure out who it was or if it was just his tired main playing tricks on him again.

It wouldn’t be the first nor the last time.

But the voice was very much real, carrying over the small clearing and reaching Jimin who only now seemed to realize who it belonged to.

Hanuel.

Perfect Hanuel. A picture perfect Omega, a person every Alpha wishes to have by their side and a person who every Omega is jealous of.

Yes, even Jimin.

Although he would never admit that to himself, but it was the truth. He spent countless nights comparing every single one of his flaws with Hanuel just wishing to know what was wrong with him.

Why was he alone?

Why couldn’t he just be loved?

Why did no one love him?

Why did no one look at him and choose him?

Why?

So many why’s and so little because’s.

Well, there were many because’s. Jimin just didn’t want to face them yet.

“Hey, you were calling me?” Jimin asked Haneul once he was standing over the couple. Jungkook looked just as excited to see Jimin as the Omega was excited to see him and he tried not to show how much it broke his heart.

They fell apart a long time ago. It was about time that Jimin went over his wounds and focused on the future instead of the past. If Jungkook did it, he can do it too.

“Yes. I just wanted to say that the necklace is absolutely stunning. You’re amazing Jimin.” Haneul said, with the biggest sweetest smile adoring his face as he stared up at Jimin, his eyes sparkling with nothing but appreciation and happiness.

And that’s what made Jimin sick.

Hanuel had a good pure heart and he was the kindest wolf in their pack and Jimin hated him for that. He hated himself for hating Haneul, but he couldn’t help himself. He was just so perfect and he had everything his little heart could wish for and he had no idea how much Jimin wanted to be him only because of one person.

There was only one person that he wanted, that his heart longed for, one person that he can never have. One person that just wasn’t meant to be his. No matter how much Jimin wanted it. No matter how much he prayed and hoped and wished, they just weren’t meant to be.

And that’s what made Jimin hate himself. That’s what made Jimin hate Haneul because why does he get to have something Jimin wants the most? Why is he better than Jimin? More deserving of Jungkook? Why can’t the Alpha love Jimin? Why can’t Jimin be enough?

Why can’t he wake up every single day with Jungkook by his side? Why can’t he touch and kiss and hold Jungkook whenever his heart desires? Why is he convicted to only look at the Alpha from afar? Why can’t the Alpha look at him with nothing but love in his deep brown eyes and a soft smile on his face? Why can’t he laugh at Jimin jokes? Why can’t he love Jimin the way the Omega wants him to?

Jimin didn’t know the answer, but it killed him everyday to know that he knew how all these things felt like. He knew how it is to have Jungkook by his side, no matter what. He knew how his heart skipped a beat whenever Jungkook would smile at him and cherish his cheek and move his hair from his eyes and kiss his forehead, the feeling of his lips still lingering on Jimin’s skin.

The Omega knew. He remembers. His heart remembers.

All those little moments…

Jimin knew they would stay locked in his mind forever. There’s no way the Alpha will ever fully leave his head; or heart.

And to see him this happy? Enjoying the present, not even looking like he remembers the past while Jimin is still living in it. He’s still desperately holding onto every hope that things might go back the way they were before.

Before that night…

But deep down he knows they never will. He knows Jungkook will never be his.

In some way he was alright with it because Haneul truly made him happy. They were perfect for each other and the bond between them keeps on growing everyday because they’re meant to be.

The only thing Jimin can do is watch from the sidelines because he would never ever interfere with their happiness, but oh how he wished. How he wished upon every star for something to happen. For one more chance to make everything right. To make Jungkook forgive him. He wished upon the moon for Jungkook to give him one more chance. That’s all he wanted. One more chance.

But that was a distant dream. A dream that will never come true. A reality that will never be.

Because he missed it. He missed that one chance. He messed it up badly and now the consequences were his reality.

“I’m glad you like it.” Jimin answered in the end, coughing slightly because there were tears building up in his eyes and a swell of emotions rising in his heart. Why was this suddenly so hard? Keeping his feelings in check? Jimin doesn’t remember it being this difficult.

“I love the stone and how simple yet magnificent it is.” Hanuel continued on, complementing Jimin and his work paying close attention to detail and Jimin couldn’t help but smile, his mood brightening. That was the thing about the other Omega, he was honest and Jimin knew that every word that fell from his lips was nothing but the truth and it made him happy. It made him happy because he puts so much time and effort into every single one of his works and to have someone compliment him always made his day better.

“How about we let Jimin rest, honey? He probably wants to go home and sleep, right Jimin?” Jungkook suddenly spoke, cutting Haneul off as he gently kissed his neck, drawing small circles on the Omega’s hips, not even looking at Jimin.

“Oh, you’re right. Sorry for keeping you so long, Jimin. I just love the necklace.” Haneul smiled again, thanking the other Omega one more time before Jimin was turning around and racing off, not even saying goodbye.

He hated Jungkook. He hated how quickly his mood can change when he’s around the man. He hated how much of an effect the Alpha had over him. Every single move, every single word, every single glance made Jimin question everything, it made him feel so many things that he doesn’t know what to do with any of it half of the time.

He just wants to forget. He wants to forget Jungkook and that day when they first met and talked to one another. He wants to forget it all. He wished it never happened. He would have been so much happier right now if Jungkook didn’t move in the house right next to his, if their parents hadn't introduced them, if they haven’t grown up together like best friends, like brothers, like family.

Because that’s what they were; a family.

When did they become this then?

They were even worse than strangers now and Jimin hated it, but he doesn’t know how to change it. He doesn’t even know if Jungkook wants for things to change between them.

And if his thoughts weren’t hunting him enough and reminding him every second of what he lost, the damn house did. The same house that once used to belong to Jungkook and his mo-.

Well, it doesn’t belong to anyone now. The house looks ready to collapse on itself, the windows have been shattered, the paint is almost completely gone. Everything that used to resemble a nice warm family home is gone now. And all that’s left is a sad little house on the edge of the forest, sitting in its own overgrown little jungle, forgotten from everyone else.

If only Jimin could say the same thing for himself.

He never forgets.

He never forgot.

Even if he wants to, he can't. His own window is facing the house, facing the room that used to belong to Jungkook, reminding him of nights when two boys would talk until morning, sending little drawings to each other by making paper airplanes and promising that they will always stay friends and that nothing will change between them.

Unfortunately, things did change between them and Jimin sometimes wishes he can blame anyone else, but himself.

“I’m home.” The Omega says, pushing the door open and pushing any memories of Jungkook in the back of his mind.

“Just in time for dinner.” His mother told him happily, peeking at him from the kitchen doorway before she returned to her salad, adding a few more ingredietns.

“Did you lock the shop?” Jimin’s father asked him from the armchair, placing his pipe down on the small wooden coffee table, getting up and joining the rest of his family in the kitchen.

“Of course I did.” Jimin answered, not having enough energy to attack his father, why he trusts him so little and why he always makes sure that Jimin locked everything. If the Omega forgot to lock the door once, he would understand where his father was coming from, but Jimin always locked the door.

He always locked the door.

And he always double checked it.

Always.

“Jimin? Are you alright?” His mother asked him, placing the rest of the dishes on the table before she gently rubbed her son’s back. She noticed how strange her son was behaving for the past few days, but whenever she would bring it up, Jimin would just brush it off, saying he was tired and how she had nothing to worry about.

She wished she had nothing to worry about, but she knew her son and she knew when he was on edge from the lack of sleep... This was something else. Something else was bothering him and she could only hope that he would come to her and let her help him.

“I’m fine. Just tired.” Jimin answered easily, already prepared for his mother’s questions whenever he would come home from the shop.

“Leave him alone, woman. It’s been a busy week.” Jimin’s father spoke from the other side of the room, giving Jimin a look that the Omega knew all too well. He was bad at acting and he’s worrying his mother and soon his father will start worrying as well.

“I’m fine, really. The orders are stressing me out, that’s all.” Jimin tried again, sitting down and waiting for his parents to join him as well.

“Then we can cut some orders, if they’re the reason why you’re so stressed. You’re too young to look the way you do.” His father muttered the last few words underneath his breath, but his wife heard him anyway and she made sure she knew by kicking him underneath the table.

“We’re not going to cut orders, father. We never had this many of them. We’re doing amazing, better than we ever had.” Jimin answered, trying to keep his voice even because he knew his parents only wanted what was the best for him and this was it. Working, expanding their business, making sure someone will remember him after he dies, making sure he has something to leave behind that will last for generations.

Plus, he also needed something to take his mind off of Jungkook.

His parents don’t have to know about that one, of course.

“We’re just worried, Jimin.” His mother tried again, her voice soft, reminding him of how she used to talk to him when he was younger.

“You have nothing to be worried about, everything is fine.” Was the last thing anyone said before they focused on their food for the rest of the dinner. Once their plates were cleaned, Jimin helped his mom with the dishes before joining his father in the living room. There was a small desk in the corner of the room where Jimin would usually sit after dinner and work on new designs, but he had no inspiration for jewelry tonight so instead he sat on the carpet and stole a few smokes from his father’s pipe when the man wasn’t looking. His mother soon joined so they played cards, pretending like everything was alright and like their son wasn’t growing skinnier and weaker by the day.

Jimin pretended too, he pretended that the house next to theirs wasn’t abandoned. He pretended that a boy lived there with his mother and that they were finishing with their dinner right about now. He pretended that the boy was sitting on his windowsill and waiting for Jimin to come upstairs and talk to him, but for some reason the Omega couldn’t get up.

He couldn’t get up and walk up those stairs and to his room, knowing the second he opened his door he would be met with harsh truth. There would be no lights coming from the window opposite of his, there would be no one there sitting and waiting for him.

He would be all alone, left with ghostly memories all around him.
