“What do you want, Nora?” Alex asks.
“Can you stop being hostile to me,” Nora pulls harder. “just this once-“
“Me,” he can’t help but chuckle bitterly. “I’m being hostile to you?"
“Yes!” Nora nods, fully believing herself. “That or you’re just staring off into the void, numb. No fucking emotions at all."
Alex shakes his head, laughing to himself. He’s got about a hundred reasons why he thinks Nora is projecting but she doesn’t stop there-
“Your lack of self-awareness is alarming, Alex.” Nora says. She’s got her arms folded on her chest, as if she’s a school grade teacher and she’s there to send Alex’s ass to detention. “You came back after several years a completely different person. What the fuck happened to you?”
It’s like one trigger after another.
Alex turns and leaves Nora there.
