He is supported by his friends and family and yet he cannot stop thinking of his rival. But he and Ilya have never been more disconnected, so he resigns himself to fighting this without Ilya in his life.
Ilya knows he was an asshole last Spring. Shane has been ignoring him all summer. But he figures that once he's back in North America and the season starts, he'll be able to get back in Shane's good graces. And then Montreal announces that they have placed Shane Hollander on Long Term Injured Reserve and he panics.

“Good news- I can definitely see ghosts.” Izuku weakly explained. “Bad news- I might’ve underestimated how pissed off the ghost is.”
“You don’t say?” Katsuki couldn’t see the ghost, but he could see Izuku staring at a fixed spot as well and how the peeling wall paper started shuddering as the heavy feeling grew. “You’re the one who researched- how the fuck do we fight it?”
“I-”
The door slammed open again, blasting the ghost woman toward them. Izuku grabbed Katsuki’s arm in a tight grip, partly to make sure he stayed inside the salt circle and partly to keep himself from reeling back outside the circle himself.
Izuku hadn’t needed to know that her skin was more translucent than the bones he could see through it. Just as scary was the newest person to come to the party- a man in all black, whose equally dark hair whipped even more ferociously.
Through the ghost, Izuku saw the man’s eyes burn an even brighter, angrier red. Then he lost track of the plot what the ghost shrieked with a level of vitriol that had him doubled over in pain. When he could look up again, the ghost woman was gone.
The ghost man- now armed with a scythe- still remained.

But that’s not all there is anymore. He can still feel Carlos clinging to him as he was lifted to safety. He can still feel Carlos inside him, from nights ago, the angle he found, the way he moved. He can feel Carlos kissing his shoulder.

Lying at the foot of the bed, spent and breathless, the weight of Carlos’ sleepy head in his naked lap, TK running his fingers through his curls.

This group renames the state "Ferngilead" and attempts to create a nation built on TERF ideology after Ferngill has been seriously damaged by circumstances almost no one could have foreseen. This dystopia executes transfeminine people, forces transmen into surrogacy and domestic servitude to "reconnect them with their womanhood", and offers AFAB enbies a choice between being sent away to dungeons to die or becoming "guarded ones".
Three years after the founding of Ferngilead, Shane is now a "motherservant" assigned to Eunmi and Harvey to provide them with a female heir. After he reunited with Emily, now the household's "guarded one", he finds his resolve to survive and maybe one day reunite with his goddaughter Jas is strengthened by hope and love in one of the darkest Stardew Valley AUs.(After years of studying political science, I asked myself "what would a dystopia run by TERFs be like?" and now am trying to answer it with this weird crossover fic)
