The next steps were simply to go to the fields of Asphodel, subtly avoiding any scrutiny. Find a certain shrimp and annoy him until he was interesting again, and until he remembered how annoying the Demon Prodigy was. Dazai wanted to see that look of anger beyond anything else, a flicker of fire that had made him strangely warm. He wanted to watch that animalistic humanity and burning power, something new compared to the daily toil of ordinary despairing souls.
As he left the cave, mind mapping out a thousand ways to fulfill his mission, he heard Ranpo's voice call out behind him.
“Dazai. Listen, there's more I could tell you, but that would alter the threads of fate too drastically. So all I will say for now is this: the camellias will turn to blood, the warmth will turn to ice and ashes." A pause, nearly wistful in nature. "Even I can’t change some endings.”
OR: Dazai as Charon, ferrier of souls into the underworld, and how he met the child (also known as the Chibi) of the god of destruction.

I learned more about how gnolls work in D&D since writing this, so despite it being firmly couched in Forgotten Realms, the actual gnolls work a lot more like their equivalent in PF2e...
Also, I was gonna have this one ending worse for Fem!Reader, but it felt better to invert the power dynamic at the end (plus I love gnolls as a player race in D&D and their equivalent in PF2e so I wanted to make them a little nicer)

Summary
